Assisted Living Near Rochester, NY
On the southern banks of Lake Ontario, Rochester has long been known for its landscaping and parks. An urban oasis of beauty was created from some donated city land by the father of American landscape architecture, Frederick Law Olmstead. Olmstead designed Seneca Park, Genesee Valley Park, Maplewood, and Highland Park among the city’s 3,500 acres of parks. Plus, the Genesee Greenway Trail, an eighteen mile path that links eleven parks, and the Erie Canal Heritage Trail are among the many nationally recognized recreational trails in Rochester.
While commemorating battles and other historic sites, another highlight of Rochester’s natural surroundings is the 1812 Bicentennial Peace Garden Trail. Clubs, exercises, field trips, cards, crafts, and other weekly senior programs are provided by the City Bureau of Recreation at the Danforth Community Center.
In addition, among Rochester, NY’s many summer and spring festivals are the Clothesline Art Festival, the Rochester-High Falls International Film Festival, Fourth of July, two Greek Festivals, the Lilac Festival (which attracts more than half a million people each year), St. Patrick’s Day Parade, the Rochester International Jazz Festival, and the Rochester Music Festival.
Rochester assisted living facilities give seniors the benefits of living free while still providing the services commonly found in continuing care retirement communities. Elderly care from trained staff members is among the services often found in these facilities. They are available to assist with treating minor injuries and illnesses, supervising of medication, finding medical and dental care from doctors of the resident’s choice from any of the many hospitals in Rochester, and more.
There are several areas for residents to socialize in many Rochester assisted living facilities. Since the summers are warm and sunny, some of these areas are outdoors. Older adults in assisted living facilities can expect to be part of meeting hall get-togethers, game nights, day room discussions, and other indoor and outdoor scheduled activities. There are also cafeteria meals, so seniors can pass on cooking for themselves while sharing a meal with friends.

That is, the cost of living is so low that you can expect to spend 80 cents for every dollar you would have had to spend elsewhere. Even more impressive is that the cost of housing is only 35 percent of the national average.
To live in a one bedroom apartment in an assisted living community in Rochester, it will cost you $3,700 per month on average according to one survey.
