Customer Reviews

I really liked this facility. The staff greeted all residents by name and many residents were out in the common areas and not hanging out in their rooms. The PT staff was very friendly and helpful when we spoke. Wish the same facility exited in Maryland closer to us in Annpolis!

I recommend Kyffin Grove

We have had a great experience at Kyffin Grove with our Mom. I know some have had issues, but they seem to have ironed out some staffing problems and just did a lot of redecorating so it looks great. Any time we've had a problem, it has been addressed promptly. Overall, we're very happy.

Wonderful place

Love this place! The staff is wonderful and it is so cheery and homey inside. The food is really good and it has lots of activities to attend.

DO NOT send your loved here

When this faculty first opened it was excellent. We felt great about moving our loved one here. Since it has been taken over by Sage Senior Living and renamed as Kyffin Grove the facility and the staff have gone down tremendously. The director’s focus is completely misdirected. Our loved one has little to no interaction and the floor is dirty with stained carpet and seating. DO NOT send your loved one here!

Do not move your loved one here

It was fine when it was managed by The Arbor Company. Things have gone drastically down hill since Sage Management took over. Consistency of care and staff is all over the map. There is no clear vision or leadership. Communication between management, staff and family is very poor. Trust level are very weak between hands-on caregiving staff and management. The lack of trust and unhappiness of the staff is palpable and trickles down to poor trust levels between residents and caregivers.

If your looking for quality care, engaged living and peace of mind that your loved one is safe and well cared for, keep looking. Do not move them here.

Toured here in 2015. Was very nice but was a little more than our budget could handle at the time. I'm not sure what it's like since it changed names.

Very disturbing

I have a loved one in the facility. The place was great when it was Solana. The facility has gone down dramatically since Sage Senior Living took over. It is clear there in no accountability for the quality of care provided to the clients. The facility in general no longer appears clean and has an odor. In the memory care unit there is consistent smell of urine. The staff are not interactive with the clients they had been when it was Solana. There is constant turnover in staff. The residents laundry is poorly done. On more than one occasion I have found other residents clothing in my loved ones room. They are supposed to label all the residents clothing this is rare at best. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Not pleased...

I am not pleased with my loved one's stay at Kyffin Grove. There is a high level of staff and management turnover, so there is very little to no consistency. They don't seem to be able to keep their staff very long. I have also found that the care for residents is very low quality. I would not recommend this facility to anyone.

Care away from home

This was the nice community. The staff was nice and friendly and caring. We liked knowing that this community was clean. they meals seemed to be very good. We would recommend this community to other families.

Very nice!

This is a newer community which was very nice. They only had shared rooms available at the time we looked. We also had another community a bit closer to where we live that was comparable in pricing and newer.

All Smoke and Mirrors

Don't be fooled. Words can't express enough how horrible our family member was treated by management. Don't expect to get what you pay for if your family member needs any type of care. You must always keep on top of how your family member is taken care of and treated. The Facility was beautiful initially but went down hill with lack of proper up keep. Basics such as daily housekeeping and laundry is lacking and annually cleanings are needed. This is not a place where your family member will "age in place". Management will try to have you believe they treat everyone like "family" but don't be fooled. It's all about the money and not the residents. Some of the good staff are truly remarkable but the amount of staffing turn-over is unsettling. Sorry we ever thought this would be a "home" for our family member.

Disappointed Daughter

Seems like all of the good staff are leaving. Communication with nursing has gone out the window since Justin left. If you ask a question now to the head nurse in charge your are lucky if she knows what your talking about. Brittany is missed dearly by my mother and me, as she always made sure that mom was engaged in conversation in the mornings. Mom still complains about the food daily to me, and the bistro often is bare of snacks when I come in the evenings. Some of the receptionists even bring in treats for the residents to slice them because of the area not being stocked as it should. Mom's room has been much cleaner now that I said something about it a few months back. Overall the care givers are good, but you can tell some of them don't want to be there and they are only there to collect a check. For what my mom is paying, she and I expect a lot more. I'm writing this review in hope that things start to improve, or we will start to look elsewhere.

Horrible Facility

I have always looked up to my grandparents and have helped them with everything. Once they started to age we placed them in Solana. It started out great until they were bought out. It started to go down hill from there. The facility has a smell like it hasn't been cleaned, missing clothing out of my grandparents room, no help from the staff. Due to the fast decline of this facility we decided to place my grandparents into another home. Move out day was worse, my mother caught staff [removed] my grandparents furniture, and then the staff lied to her face. I would not recommend this facility to anyone.

Horsham's Best!

I can not begin to explain the love that myself and my family have felt the staff of The Solana give to my mother since she moved in. The caring and professional manner at how they are there for you to answer your concerns is above and beyond. Communication with nursing is headed by Justin and he makes sure that we stay informed about mom and her care. The staff on Bridges, where mom lives, has been wonderful. Jasmine, Carol, and Darcel care for mom as if she was their own mother. I am so happy that my father and I can rely on The Solana to provide the kind of care that we expect her to get, but can no longer do on our own. Check this community out and you won't regret you did.

Nice looking place

I toured this community while looking into care options for a loved one. The facility was well kept and clean, and all of the staff I met seemed friendly and professional. We ended up selecting another community, but this is somewhere I would have considered as an option for my loved one.

Excellent care

The Solana Horsham has been wonderful, every step of the way. Their admissions person, Kylie, is excellent. She was so supportive helping us make our decision. She seemed to genuinely care about my mom since the moment she met her and brought her her favorite treat, a frappe, while my mom was still in the hospital.

In Solana, my mom gets wonder care. They are very attentive. There are always activities going on that seems fun, there is always music playing, the atmosphere is wonderful.

My mother is now on hospice with end stage Alzheimer and hospice comes in to her in Solana. The staff are still able to meet all her needs and exceed my expectations.

I am glad that my mom is spending her end there with such good care.

Best place for my Mom!

Excellent facility. My Mom has lived there for 2 months so far. The staff is wonderful! Everyone knows Mom by name and they treat her like their own family. The nurses and aides have been very attentive and ensure any potential issues are proactively managed. The facility is lovely, and Mom enjoys the food too. So glad we found Solana Horsham!

The solana Horsham is a very respectful and clean facility the staff is great and management is always hands on the rooms are always clean and it always smells so fresh its a great place to live for your loved ones.

went out of their way to ensure our visit went well. Moved to top of the list. Friendly, clean and bright.

5 Stars for Solana Horsham

My uncle and aunt needed to move to assisted living because my aunt was fading fast. 24-hour care in NY, where they lived, was too expensive. Solana Horsham, nearer to family, proved the best home for them both financially and because everything about it spoke to happy and caring employees and residents. The staff couldn't have been nicer and gentler; the food was fine and the snack bar area for "in betweens" was a caring and happy touch. Residents on all floors were well cared for and seemed happy. Many gave us such positive testimonials, it helped cement the deal. If your family needs assisted living, do not think twice: ask for Migdalia Cosante, and you will be very pleased.

Very Fine

My mom has been at Solana for almost two months. The people who work there are amazing!!!! It is a beautiful facility, very clean, very friendly, and I feel my mom is getting good care. BUT I have had problems getting paperwork submitted to the insurance company and that is a real issue. Also, my mom is not happy with the food (I will acknowledge she is picky, but there is a happy medium where lunch and dinner could get a bit better and she could expect less). Other than that, there are no complaints, just gratitude that we found such a good place with great people. I will post back in a month to say whether my issues have been resolved.

Trust me, Solana has it all!

Trust me...Solana is wonderful "gift" for your loved one!

The "NEW Solana"...now under Arbor Company... has it all.
Mom has been there for a little over a year now. I have been through the ups/downs and sideways of the establishment of this facility...it is a little over a year old itself! I likely know all the previous folks who have commented. One thing is for sure...this management has a TRUE open door engagement with family members.
NO concern will go unheeded. the new director has a picture of her smiling grandma that is placed on her desk for all the staff to see...inspiring the staff to continually strive to place that kind of a smile on ALL residents' faces!
And trust me....they do! Whether the awesome nursing staff, engaging Brittany at the welcome desk or the support staff..food delivery staff...they all know, respect and shower love on her. Even the housekeeper tells me sometimes she stays a little longer in mom's room when mom is excited to chat with her. Only a truly caring staff provides the "extra" care we really want for our loved ones.
As far as programs...they really try to sync up activities for each type of resident. They characterize them by "gem stones" ..ask them about this...Really nice empowering way to "meet them where they are at."
The BIGGEST UNIQUE offering Solana has was MY key decision. Unlike all other facilities that have just an "assisted" section and "Alzheimer's section"...Solana built an -absolutely gorgeous- "transition section" called Bridges for those folks who are not fully able to be merely "assisted' and yet who are not in a state of much more need in Alzheimer's sections. Activities match them and keep them stimulated wherever they are in the most warm, safe and stylish space.
I think it is an overall "win!" Please do yourself a favor and check it out for yourself.

Was super-impressed with Solana--the physical space and the people and the atmosphere and the program.

Ask lots of questions

Problems continue at this facility. There is a constant turnover of personnel. They have not yet had an Activities Director that has related to the residents in any meaningful way. At this time, they are again without one and supposedly actively searching. There is a new management company and that, too, has brought some problems. They have substituted med techs for LPN's. A med tech doesn't have the background to pickup on problems as an LPN does. The caregivers rarely seem to relate to their charges...they lack warmth and caring.

Bad Experience!!

The professionalism at Solana is horrible. My mother put a deposit down on a room and followed all of the steps Solana asked and all of their directions. When it was close to her moving in they informed us that the room had been given away. No notice. No communication. Communication through the whole process was poor. They took days to return phone calls. They gave wrong information. Promises were broken. If this is the way they are before someone moves in I have to wonder what it will be like after.

Beautiful facility. Went to Brunch, food was excellent. Prices are a bit on the high side.

Very good overall, with room for improvement

This place is brand new, and it's a beautiful facility. The staff are very friendly, and it's got a personal small family atmosphere.
There are a few areas they could improve on, however. The activities aren't very stimulating, I feel like they could improve on both quality and quantity. The housekeeping service could also use improvement.

It's a beautiful, beautiful place, the rooms are nice and activities and all that...

It's a beautiful, beautiful place the rooms are nice and activities and all that, but there are so many problems with the staff, that two of the daughters of a resident have organized a residents family meetings. The horror stories that come out of there, they have even called in the investors that own the building to let them know this is what is happening at your residence. We talked to the manager and he just allows the staff to be disrespectful to the residents, I think, is the main problem, he doesn't controll the aides and I don't even know who their supervisor is, I've asked three of them and they don't know they can't even answer that question. They had five typewritten pages of complaints from residents families that they gave to the manager. They are going to have these meetings now every month and they expect to see progress. I have a friend that was bleeding to death, she pressed and pressed her button on her necklace but nobody came until the med tech came to give her meds and found her. There are bad apples, most of the staff is good, all of the med techs, the kitchen staff is good, the servers in the dining room, the activity people are good, the CNA's are just running wild. They need a different supplier for the food, it has it's good days and it's bad days. The manager is not up to snuff. I wanted a large space and I was on my way to sign up with another place but they offered me a deal that was too good pass up. They have so few residents I don't know how they stay in business, one of the servers told me that there was only 16 women (there are men here too) So there are not that many people here. I'm on the second floor and there are only 3 occupied rooms. I'm really considering whether or not I want to stay here. They have a dementia area but I don't have any experience with that.

Looked very nice, and was brand new

This place was brand new when we toured it, some of the areas were not even open for move-ins yet. It looked very very nice, and the staff who gave the tour were friendly, but we were reluctant to put our loved one somewhere so new, since we didn't get a real chance to see how they'd operate with residents around.

Really nice place, but management issues

This is a really nice place, it is clean and the staff are friendly. Mom is really enjoying it so far. But it is going through some growing pains due to a change in management. All of the issues have been discussed, and are currently being addressed, and once they have those worked out I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Amazing Place with Amazing Staff

From the moment you walk in the door and are greeted by Brittany, everyone is always so pleasant, residents and staff alike. I have a loved one on the Clare Bridge Memory Unit, and it makes me feel so good going home to know that such kind and caring staff care for them. From Crystal the Activity Director, to Nancy, Kay, and all the aides, and espically Justin one of the most caring, kind, compassionate nurses that you will ever meet in your enitre life. My family and I toured a lot of places, and we can not agree more that the place for our family is with our new family at The Solana. If your considering checking it out, do yourselve and your loved ones a huge favor and do!

Excellent! The whole family loves them. A's across the board, but I'll give them a C for letting people leave. They will let us take her out to visit, but they even let them go overnight. The whole family is very well pleased. We had brunch around Thanksgiving, it wasn't bad, infact it was good. They do have a lot of activities for her and she is starting to participate now. The beds are not alarmed, but it's assisted living so you are supposed to be able to get out of bed on your own. They do not take Medicaid.

Best out of the local options

They're very friendly, I find anytime I've been there if I need any help they've been very helpful and attentive. They've had some car shows and outside events that they take the residents to, they're very centered on the residentrs and the children and grandkids.
For us, the location was great, but that's a personal preference, the way the building set up fit for what we were looking for. My mother has dementia and is on the third floor, it's a very bright area, very nice and I'm very happy that they keep my mother active. We were very impressed with this one in comparison to the others locally.

I have my Mother there and she is getting excellent care. The staff could not be more helpful.

Happy Overall

My mother-in-law fell while she was therea and layed on the floor most of the night. She's currently in rehab because of that.

On the whole, I'm very pleased with the facility. The people are generally caring. The staff seem to take great interest in their clients. I would certianly recommend family members to go take a look at the facility and talk to the staff there. I'll be glad when my mother-in-law can get back to Solana and back to her routine.

Overall good care, bad food

There were some people that I thought were great and there were others that were not so, the majority were extremely friendly and helpful and there were some that seemed like they didn't want to be there. Taking all things into consideration, it was a new business and like any new business there were new employees and it takes awhile to weed out the ones that should be there and find your core staff. Overall I would say the care was good, it seemed very expensive to me but I don't really have a frame of reference. The bottom line is, I think my mom did well while she was there and that was our number one goal. She really did et better and better to the point where she could go home. She felt she was too young for this place and I got the same feeling. But she was not happy in the least bit with the food, I tried it once and it seemed okay but she really wasn't happy with t. When you're retired the food is what you look forward to so it's really important and she was not happy at all with it.
