No Homey Feeling
I toured Hanover House, and I was not very impressed. I felt that it had no homey feeling at all, and I cried when we walked through the memory care unit. There were just lots of people sitting in the hallways doing nothing. It was heartbreaking, and I knew that I did not want my mother there.
This place is not what I want for Mom. It is, however, nice. The staff was helpful and answered all of my questions. The nursing staff only consists of a CNA and Med Tech and there are 30 Residents. I think Mom might do better with a little more one-on-one care. FYI, They did not seem to be expecting me, but recovered well and the tour went smoothly!
Thanks for recommending New Hanover House.
The community is really nice and clean. The staff is outstanding. The food does need improvement if a few areas. They offer a lot of nice activities for her to enjoy. They take their time in helping you feel welcome. We would welcome families to this community for good care and a nice family environment.
From the Office
One of the great selling points of the New Hanover House is that we do not charge Levels of Care as most of our competitors do. In other words the rates I have just quoted are the actual rates you would pay monthly if you chose to place your mother with Meridian. When shopping the competition you will find they will provide a Base Monthly Rent and Add Additional Rent based on you mothers care needs for things like bathing, dressing and mobility. New Hanover House is Meridian’s flagship property in the greater Wilmington area and one of the newest most state of the art “green” communities in town. The property was built just 5 years ago and has all the amenities you would expect from a modern day Assisted Living community. We have daily activities provided both on site and off site in the community for our residents enjoyment. We offer different nutritious food options daily at every mealtime with snacks provided in between meals and even “late night" snack options available. We offer the North Carolina DHHS required 1:20 Aide to Resident Staffing Ratio in our Assisted Living and a 1:8 Aide to Resident Staffing Ratio in our on site Memory Care.
