Customer Reviews

This one did not feel as warm and comfortable to us. It had great options, but we didn't get the warm "at home" feeling we got from other places.

2 Thumbs up

We choose Addollorata Villa because it offered our Mom a continuum of care we believed was best. We have seen firsthand the Addolorata staff show extreme compassion to their patients and residents. They have been extremely attentive to our mother's needs and kept our family updated along the way. The spiritual environment is a comfort for her and our family. We highly recommend the community of Addolorata Villa.

A Caring Community

Everyone is so friendly here, but find most have English as a second language, so communication with the staff was sometimes difficult.
There is a definite issue with clothes. I did my mom's laundry myself, and even with a big sign on the closet door, clothing disappeared and I would have to hunt it down. GET IT LABELED, OR LABEL IT YOURSELF! Having the staff label laundry could take up to a week.
The building is old and the rooms are small but the facility is clean. Windows need replacing. Took both hands and a lot of strength to open mom's window, only to find the screens torn.
Other than that, mom seemed to get very good care. Nurses reported every medication and other changes to me regularly. Physical Therapists really work their butts off with the patients, and it shows in the results. Activities attempt to get every resident involved. I particularly loved watching the wheelchair bowling! The staff really gets to know the residents.
All in all, yes, there are newer places out there, but I'm glad I picked this one for its caring atmosphere.

Pretty Nice Tour Of This Community

I had a nice tour of this community. Everyone was kind, and friendly. From what I saw the community appeared to be nice, and clean. The staff I met was polite, and my questions were answered. The experience was a good one, but I did find a better match for my love one, and her needs.

My mother did not care for this place. It is an older facility and the hallways seemed dark. It is a long walk from an apartment at the end to go to the dining room.

Very Religious!!

I liked this place it had some of the things we were looking for that my father would need. Healthy meal plans and activities. It was very big and everything was nicely placed. I thought it was very religious and this didn't really work for my father. I like the people and the tour guide they were attentive with me and answered any questions or concerns.

Addolorata Villa looked like a nice community!

This is a very religious community. The person I spoke to seemed quite standoffish and they were not very helpful with my questions. They do offer outings and were getting ready to go on one when I was there.

It's a beautiful place and the people are nice.

number one in my book!

In the past four years I have been to 18 different facilities looking for places for my two sisters. Addolorata Villa has been the most outstanding of all of them because it was obvious to me that they cared about the person, not about the money that they would be getting. Other places talk big but do not deliver. Not so here. I have been really impressed with the intake people and process. They are number one in my book!

Review of Addolorata Villa Alzheimer's / Memory Care in Wheeling, IL

St. Francis should be most known for helping the poor. People today are a little confused in thinking that he loved animals more than people. When people are doing the right thing, money is no object.

I liked the caring atmosphe...

I liked the caring atmosphere that I experienced here. However, the ratio of caregivers to number of residents seems too low.

Superior care

My mom did respite, she did rehab, she did nursing. It's an older building, it's worn down, it's almost a little dingy. I was not happy with it but that's just the physical aspect. On the other hand, the care is superior, we had no issues with any of the caregivers or nurses or aids. They were not willing to work with her medications right away, they said you had to go through their pharmacy and we had to pay 300 dollars outright for her incontinence care but they provided the pullups for her.

Level of care diminished

As my Dad's care needs increased due to back pain, they insisted he move from assisted living to nursing as they said they couldn't handle more than one person assist where he was. We didn't think he needed that, and an epidural pain treatment ultimately confirmed that
We had an overall bad experience dealing with this facility, his care was spotty.
