Customer Reviews

wonderful staff. [Name removed] was a wealth of information and really helped in narrowing down what kind of assisted living my dad would be happiest in. The University Village setting was not appropriate given his personal preferences but I liked it a lot.

Went as scheduled but front desk knew nothing about appointment, had no one available, had no brochures. Didn’t like feel of tiny lobby with locked door to rest of facility

Hello , my name is Terra Jones and I am the Administrator at University Village .I am sorry you were unable to meet with someone. I am not sure when you came, or who you were scheduled to meet. If you had a tour scheduled , it would have only been scheduled with me. We do not keep brochures available at the front but I am always available to share information and help with resources for our potential families needs. We are a secured community because we also offer a safe environment for our residents with Dementia & Alzheimer's . I am always available if you would like to reach out again. Kind Regards,

FIRST PLACE WE VISITED ... and am now moving into this facility. I really am impressed with the graduated level of care they offer here. My husband will go into the facility as ASSISTED LIVING. He, if and when he neeeds it, will be able to transfer to the MEMORY CARE. This facility is unique as they offer assisted living first. PS BTW ... They have a "house dog". A beautiful Labber-doodle. Pretty neat place. Would rate them a 100

I can see she may be his favorite already...Lol ! Thank you for trusting us and joining our family .

Review of University Village Memory Care

[Name removed] is an outstanding Exec Director- been there 11 years. Hands on with residents AND family. Invaluable! Caregivers are tender loving, talk to family about loved one. Can call at anytime and ask about resident! This place raises the bar for it's compassionate and loving care!

Thank you so much for your kind words. I agree we have amazing caregivers and lots of love. It is never easy for a family to move their loved one, and we understand it is a difficult decision when you do. You trust us with your loved one and we are honored to be a part of your family. Thank you for letting us do so :)

Really nice except for dorm showers and not private ones.

We do have some apartments with private showers, so there is a option. All of our apartments have private bathrooms but not all have showers in them. The design was to offer both for our residents. The ones that don't have a shower, are a great option for a resident that could be a fall risk. We do have lovely spa rooms in all neighborhoods and they have walk in tubs, as well as showers. Thank you for visiting our community.

Dad is doing great

We love that we put Dad here at University Village. The staff and caregivers are friendly and responsive to Dad's needs. The food id great here. Everything is always clean and tidy. They have really good activities that he loves such as games and they also go on a bus and go to parks or out to eat. He is thriving here.

Kind, Friendly Community

My father seems to have adjusted well to this community. He likes it, and is doing well since his move here. I do feel comfortable with his move here. He is safe, and in great hands. The staff is great, they are kind, and have been helpful whenever needed. They are quick to respond to any concerns I may have. The community, and his room are nice, and clean when I visit. They provide good meals, he is pleased with the food. This is a community I would recommend, it has been a good experience for us.

I am so glad you feel comfortable with your fathers move here. I agree with you that we have a great staff :) I cant tell them enough how much I appreciate all they do for our residents each day. Thank you for allowing us to care for your father, and thank you for your feedback

Things are great

This community is great. The staff have done everything they can to help my in laws get adjusted to living here. My mother in law has improved a lot since moving here. They offer good healthy food and make sure they are getting plenty of liquids. They help with their medications. This had been a great experience so far.

Thank you so much . We don't have many couples, so I am thinking I know exactly who your in-laws are, and we love them . They are so sweet and I am so glad the adjustment has went so well. Its hard making a move from your home into a community but to have help and not be the caregiver, makes such a huge difference. Thank you for your feedback .

My Love One Is In Good Hands

No place is perfect, but so far my love one is doing well in this community. She is still taking some time to get adjusted to the routine around the community. However I do feel comfortable with her move here. She is safe, and in good hands. The staff is great with their commutation, and taking good care of her, and her needs. The community is well maintained, and they do a good job with the cleanliness. She hasn't had any complaints about the meals, and they do offer activities for the residents. They have been helpful with transportation to and from her doctors appointments. This is nice, safe community, and I would recommend it to my family, and friends.

Thank you for your recommendation. I truly believe that our families feedback is so important when someone new is on this journey. I am happy she likes the community and is adjusting well.

Feels Like Home

I'am very pleased with my fathers move to this community. From the first day I walked into this community I felt at home. Everyone was very welcoming, and kind. I felt like I was at home, and I knew if I felt like that my father would too. The staff in this facility is awesome. I know he is safe, and in great care. The staff really goes above, and beyond for their residents.

I am so glad you are pleased with your fathers stay here. We are glad you made the move to University Village. I know when looking for a new home for someone you love so dearly, can be very scary. I have to agree that we have an AMAZING staff. I am so fortunate to truly work with each staff and let them know how much we appreciate all they do. Thank you for your feedback .

Comfortable Place to live

With my mom not being a social person, she tends to remain in her room so space is very important in that regards. The overall appearance of the community is nice the staffing and residents seem nice and get along well. There have been no issues with housekeeping and they keep my mom's room very clean
The staff is very accommodating when I have an issue or a concern. If asked I would recommend this place to anyone.

I am glad that she is comfortable and I will defiantly let our wonderful housekeeper, and staff, know what a great job they are doing on housekeeping. Thank you for your recommendations and for your feed back.

Couldn't Be Happier

I love this place it's wonderful. I couldn't have asked more a more calming and soothing atmosphere for my dad. There is natural light coming in the walls and the carpet or a soothing color and it just gives off a calming vibe all around. The staff from the administrations to the nurses and the aides housekeeping are wonderful. They are attentive to my dad and they keep me well informed on a constant basis. I love how the floor is setup so that no matter where dad is he can be seen by the nursing staff.

Thank you family :) I too love the layout of the community. I always highlight the layout being very friendly when monitoring a resident, and being able to really see everyone without going down halls and around corners. I will defiantly share your kind words with all our staff, so they also know how much you appreciate them and all they do. I do too !

The best option...

University Village is fairly clean, and they have been very helpful. The location is not the best, I am spending a lot of time going back and forth. I checked out other places before making a choice and this one has more caregivers per people. They constantly try, but I do have to follow up a lot. I like that they have good meal options and with a lot of fresh vegetables. Also, if she does not like what is on the menu, they will take her a grilled piece of chicken or something else for her to eat.

terria jones

Thank you for your feedback. When we first opened University Village in 2011, we were not as congested as we are now. It is hard on families when the location is difficult, especially if you are going back and forth a lot. I am sorry for that but I do believe that when finding the right place, you can trust all will be ok, if you don't make it by one day you were planning to see your loved one . Thank you for your feedback on follow up. I strongly believe that communication is the key and very important for not only our families, but also our residents. I always look at feedback as a wonderful way to help us get better in areas that we need to improve. I appreciate you.

I took a tour!

I toured many communities and one of them was University Village. It was a good experience and everyone there was very friendly. The facility was clean and seemed to be maintained well. I did not notice anything negative.

Thank you for taking a tour of our community. I know that it has been awhile, so I am not sure if you moved your loved one in and I respect that you remain anonymous. If you have, thank you for being a part of our family. If you have not, please let us know anytime if we can help in anyway. If you were just visiting, we love visitors and are so glad you came by.

Great facility with great staff

My father was at University Village for a month before transferring to a skilled nursing facility. From the very beginning deciding on University Village thru ultimately transferring my father, working with [removed] was an absolute pleasure. [removed] and all the staff I came into contact with seemed genuinely concerned about my father and his well being. Special Kudos for the hands on staff who had to help my dad through his heightened level of personal care needs. The staff dealt with this in a very caring and professional manner. The level of engagement provided through planned activities with adequate and appreciated. I would recommend University Village to anyone needing to place a loved one in an assisted living memory care environment.

Thank you Kevin.
Your father was such a delight and we are so glad he was here with us, when he was. I know it was a difficult decision to make the move to skilled nursing ,but you and your family were so wonderful with both your parents.

When We Explored The Community

They did a nice job explaining their practices and services when we were getting walked through the community. It was fine but not as new as we wanted. It was traditional, like a type of nursing home setting. In nice words, it looked old school. To be more appealing they can update the facility to what it is like at other newer communities.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We are glad you did visit and take a tour of the community. I always understand that each family is looking for different options, and that is why we are so fortunate to have many more communities with many choices. When describing University Village, I describe it more as a intimate home environment. However our visitors feedback is greatly appreciated. I also strongly believe that what is most important is what is under the roof of each community. The love, dedication and caring staff that cares for your loved one everyday. Building the community is the first part, staffing it with amazing staff and providers is the most essential. Thank you again for your feedback and your visit.

Moving Mom

Really seemed knowledgeable and caring in meeting my mom's needs. They were very helpful as this was a crisis move when my father died and they did everything they could to help get her in and settled.

Beverly. We are so thankful your mother is here with us. I know how difficult it was to make the move, and all that was happening during that time. Being a part of a very difficult time for you all, and seeing how she settled, warmed my heart. I know that we have had our changes and challenges as she goes through the months but we are so glad she is here with us. Thank you for all your kind words when visiting and your support with your mothers changes. We appreciate you and your family.

Lovely place

So far, I am very pleased with every aspect of University Village. It's clean, the staff is kind, and the facility doesn't smell bad! Food is good and presented well, and the director, [Removed] seems really on top of things. One of the main reasons I chose this facility is because it has a therapy/workout room, too, and a hair dressing salon. Also, security is tight. Rooms are nice & can be customized. There is also a doctor that can be called if necessary, and prescriptions can be filled immediately.

Thank you Suzanne. We are glad to have your family member with us and appreciate the feedback. It is always hard to assist in moving any family to a community, and out of their home. Your family member is lucky to have you too ! Thank you for all your support.

Excellent Care

The community is very nice and clean. The staff is excellent and caring. The food is good and appealing. The activities are wonderful to stay active. We would highly recommend this for great care and value to others.

Highly Recommended

This is a great community for my wife. She is under great care with the staff . This community is clean and well taken care of. They offer her activities to enjoy. She is happy with the meals that are served with a great variety. We would highly recommend this to other families who are wanting great care for their loved ones.

Great Communication!!

The University Village has been providing great care for my father. They are making sure that he is safe and he is being secured so he doesn't get hurt. The caregivers and staff are really nice and communicate well. If something is going on with him they notify me right away. It's also kept cleaned and organized. I would recommend the community to families.

Very Informative Tour Guide

My tour of this community went very well. The lady that gave me the tour was very helpful and informative. She gave me more information about dementia care. The community looked great, everything was nice and clean. It was a very nice tour, this is a lovely community.

A really nice place-excellent!!!!

No question about it I would recommend this community. My mom is doing well since moving into University Village. While they do offer daily activities she only participates in a few. The grounds are very nice and they will be having a luau this weekend. The food is good although it is a little bland for her taste. The staff is great and are very good at keeping us informed of her care.

Review of University Village - Round Rock, TX

University Village Tour 4-10-2016 Is a very clean and organized place Terria was attentive and listened to our needs and requirements Informed us of their directive toward the care and responsibility for their guest. This was good to know in that our love ones are being cared for as we care for them. Terria gave us a tour of the layout of the facility showed us some rooms to get an idea as to what are looking at and let us know our part when I asked. Informed us of activities planned and of areas that we could utilize if needed to do something of our own. Terria also provided a take home booklet it over with other information and pricing. Overall was a very good clean and safe place

Review of University Village - Round Rock, TX

Felt claustrophobic. Rooms small with standing wardrobe. No showers in rooms. Constant beeping noises. Large patio noisy with road traffic. Staff nice offered lots of information. Gardening patio not covered would get full sun ..too hot for mother. Do not think mother would be very happy here. Night motion detectors. Place felt regimented. Can have but not much room for a small refrigerator. Rooms are cramped feeling.

Review of University Village - Round Rock, TX

The director was amazing and so knowledgeable!! She shared helpful information that will help us on this new journey with our mother and she seemed genuinely concerned... not just about selling us the facility but about our situation.

We liked University Village when we toured here.

We liked University Village when we toured here. We especially liked the level of activity. The reason we didn't choose it is windows, not every room had windows, and some only looked onto the courtyard, not the "real world", which was important to my loved one.

Thank you for the review. I am sorry you didn't feel that every room had a pleasurable view. Our building is really well lit with natural lighting since the roof in the common areas is large sun roof. Every single resident apartment has a large window, some overlook green spaces, some overlook the neighborhood roads, and some the courtyards.

We are very pleased with University Village.

We are very pleased with University Village. On a scale of one to five, I think they get a five. No major complaints so far, I would give them a five.

friendliness is outstanding

At University Village their friendliness is just outstanding. They are extremely welcoming. This is such a nice place. I would rate the friendliness 6 stars if I could. Everything here has just been great!

I'm not happy with them..

I put my mother there thinking that there would be activities every hour. When I would walk in, nobody would be doing anything. When I asked the staff about the activities on the board, they had no idea what I was talking about. I'm not too crazy about the food either. The cost is ridiculous. It seems like a rip off. When I first got there, they tried to charge me an extra $400 because they said my mother's level of care has gone up. She wasn't even there for a day yet. I am just not happy. Other than that, the people were very friendly and it was clean.

Molly Nedley

Local Representative

I am sorry for your negative experience with the activities program. We have worked very hard at training not only the Activity Director, but also the care staff to take an active role every day, in helping keep our residents active, social, and engaged throughout the day. As far as the Level of Care goes, our policy is to give families a 30 day notice if their loved ones level of care needs to be raised due to their specific needs. Thank you for your feedback!

My mom has been there a little over 1 week but really seems to be adjusting well.....she is still dealing with anxiety issues but we hope her condition will improve over time....a very clean facility and friendly staff!

Thank you so very much for the kind words! The adjustment process can sometimes be short, and sometimes lengthy. We try to help make it a comfortable transition.

Very Nice Overall

We visited this community while looking into care options for a loved one. I though this was a very nice looking, up-to-date community, and the staff all seemed friendly. The facility was clean, food is good and da s seems happy.

Wonderful place!

They do an absolutely fabulous job at University Village! I've had experience with quite a few different communities and University Village is one of the best places I've seen for memory care! The staff is friendly, professional, and always willing to listen and help solve problems. I really can't say enough good things about them, I highly recommend them!

Nice looking place

We visited this community while looking into care options for a loved one. I though this was a very nice looking, up-to-date community, and the staff all seemed friendly. The facility was clean, and had some attractive architecture. I also liked that they had walk-in tubs.

My mother has been at the village for two years. During the last two years, I have been continually impressed with the facility and the staff. Recently, her decline has increased her level of care. In a very loving and caring manner, the staff and administration has responded to her needs.
Thank you

Great people and care

My mother has dementia and it was getting extremely difficult to watch after her. It got to the point were we had to find her a place ASAP. I found University Village through and they have been amazing. They were able to get my mom in on a Sunday and made her comfortable enough to stay the first night, because she didn't want to. They have kept me updated on her meds, health and other documentation I needed. I go to visit Mom once a week and they are so friendly and know me by name. They make me feel so comfortable about Mom being there.

My husband is happier there than at home.

My husband lives there. The staff is great. The community is bright and cheerful, not like they are locked up. Staff knows the patients and knows about them. Attention to personal details. I couldn't be more delighted. My husband is happier there than at home.

Great place

It was great. All I had to do was call give my needs for my father and they found the home perfect for him. Made my life so simple moving him from Missouri to Texas. Great help I recommend everyone who needs help with their love ones!

1,200 mile journey to 'home'

We moved my 98 yr old father with dementia from his home in Ohio to University Village while awaiting my mom's discharge from a rehabilitation facility where she was recovering from a broken leg. Since she had been the primary caregiver and this was no longer going to be possible, I had to find a place for dad. After contacting the Village the staff immediately went to work to make this happen quickly and smoothly. When I had to leave to go back to pick up mom they kept in touch with me and when dad suddenly had to be hospitalized, they made all of the arrangements and not only sent a staff member to stay with him in the ER but when he was admitted, someone was there every day helping to keep him calm, encouraging him to eat and even brought food in for him. Needless to say they went above and beyond and since I have no other family members in the area, this meant more to me than I could ever express. They treated him like family.
Dad is doing well and is feeling more at home every day and even ask me what I think of his new 'home'. The facility itself is clean, bright and homey. The staff is patient beyond belief on days when dad is less than easy to get along with. They are respectful and attentive to hygiene needs. Potential fall alarms are address immediately by one or more staff. Everyone from top administrative staff to maintenance are involved with residence and knows them by name. Meals and snacks are nutritious and individualized to meet the needs of the resident.
Mom is living with me now and we visit dad several times a week and we are always greeted by our first names with smiles from everyone. What a joy to have dad in a place where she can see how well he is liked and taken care of. She no longer has to feel responsible for his care so she can enjoy the time she spends with him.

Great Amenities, Clean, & Spacious

Nice, new building. Well maintained and very clean. Beautiful outdoor areas for gardening or lounging, but secure enough for memory care residents.

Large, comfortable living areas with plenty of computers, tv's, games, etc.

Nice amenities - hair salon, exercise room, and more. The food looked delicious.

University Village is an answer to prayer.

I was very pleased with University Village. The surroundings and the facility are open and clean. The staff are friendly and responsive. At my first visit, I knew that this was the next home for my mom -- that Mom would be valued and cared for and that I could take some time to rest while knowing that she is in great hands. University Village has been an answer to prayer and my mom and our family feel very blessed. Thanks also to A Place for Mom for contacting me regarding room availability!

63 residents. Shared room, level 1 3950. level 2 4350, max 4750. Great medical staff on premises. Sounds great. Spoke with Terria Jones.

Demenia Care Quality -

University Village is a great uplifting building with home-like atmosphere in all 4 units. Caregivers are friendly and cooperative. Administration little slow on following through with paperwork.

Very nice, but not the type...

Very nice, but not the type of living quarters I need for my aunt. She needs to have a private living area (not just a bedroom) and her own complete bath.

review of University Village experences

My mother has been pleased with her new residence. The room ,though small, is very plesant once decorated with her personal belongings. She has a private bath that includes a sink with ample under storage and a toilet. She goes to the Spa 3 times a week for her shower or bath ( walk in tub). This system works well as Mother has dementia that makes unsupervised showering dangerous.

Her closet is very small which requires that I bring only one week of clothing at a time. In reality this is probaly better as choosing from more clothing would probably be confusing to my mother. Mother is happy with the food and with the care given her by the staff.

My mother still has strong social skills. Sometimes I worry, in spite of the activites offered in residence, that she may not be having her social needs met . However her memory issues make it difficult for her to navigate daily life without support . It is difficult to find the exact balance of care for her. University Village keeps her safe with compasionate care

No Outside Walking Space

We went to University Village. Their activities, it seemed like they had a lot but there wasn't much to do in the way of going outside. It was more like a hotel or a hospital. I'm sure they had an indoor activity room but no place for my husband to walk outside which was important to us. That's what he does and where he is now there's several other men that like to walk outside too so it seems to be fairly typical, at least in my experience with Alzheimer's.

They're very friendly and seem very c...

They're very friendly and seem very concerned but I'm having difficulty with getting follow ups from the night staff. After an incident they said they would call me and follow up with how things are going but I had to call them to get updated and that's happened a couple of times. I would expect a call back instead of me calling and trying to get ahold of them. They're trying to figure out some sort of alert signal to prevent more incidents, some of the time I'm not sure it it's because of his age and dementia and how much they can watch him but I wouldn't rate them lower for that. I think that most of them are very friendly and caring, they seem receptive and with the day staff and the administration I can expect follow through. The facilities are very nice and always very clean, I don't have anything to compare it too but it seemed very similar to other ones I looked at, the levels of care were nice for cost.

Great Community Great Staff

We chose University Village because they had immediate availability and the staff here is really friendly. When we toured the community we really liked the people and the community. So far we have been very happy with them and would recommend them to anyone looking for a memory care community.

27 March 2013. Loved the natural light in this property! Appreciated having all of the bedrooms opening into the common area for each 'village'. The low wall between the dining and activity area helped the visual room flow. Of the two wings, lower functioning residents are separate from higher functioning ones. During the timeframe I needed to make a decision, there was not a room available. There are private rooms within my price range. Would recommend this property to others.

This is a very bright and open place wth high staff to resident ratios. The residents have access to 2 outdoor courtyards, and indoor walking area. Family and pet visits are encouraged. They also have a day option and respite care.

Amazing facility. The director smart, up to date. Clean, upbeat, focused on things I know Mom needs that I cannot do or she won't let me do.
