Customer Reviews

Toured this very posh, large facility. While the rooms and amenities are great, monthly payment + level of care is more than I want to pay for my father.

Peace of Mind is Back

This is a loving environment that doesn't smell like a hospital. Knowledgeable staff and homey atmosphere relieves the stress with patients transitioning into their new

They provide great support to families as well, in counseling them on what to expect with impaired awareness brought on by dementia.

It's a difficult situation when you feel that you aren't doing enough for your parent while you are burning yourself out, both mentally and physically. This a disservice to your loved one. Acknowledging what's best isn't easy and this facility let's you see how evidence based quality practice is beneficial to patient as well as their families.

Marymount has been a game changer for my mom

My mother has been at Marymount's third-floor memory care unit for about 2 years now. I have to start with the fact that my mother was coming from a previous elder care home, I won't name names here, and was not being taken care of AT ALL. My mother came to Marymount smelling of urine, with open sores on her heels, ingrown toenails, teeth that needed to be looked at, unkempt hair, stressed and combative....she was in very bad shape. I have a very young special needs child at home and am not able to be as on top of things as I would like, I just don't have the hours in the day, so I really rely on her residence to take care of her day to day needs, as they are being paid to do. Back to my mother arrived in very bad shape, I was stressed, skeptical, but knew that she had to [be] moved from where she was. My questions to [remove] were really about the staff, cleanliness and how tolerant the staff would be of my mother's bad attitude. I was assured she would be well taken care of. As I have visited her over the last two years she has been getting progressively better, if you can believe that! My mother has dementia, she is schizophrenic, can no longer walk and is extremely strong willed! She has always been extremely difficult to deal with and try to help or take care of...somehow Marymount seems to have cracked the code! As I said my mother was getting better and better, in that she smelled better, her skin looked better, her hair was always clean, her teeth clean, her sores healing, she gained a bit of much-needed weight and her attitude was better-unbelievable! The last time I saw her, just 2 days ago, she was in a great mood, we went to a Dr. appointment, she had blood work done and voila her blood work looked great, kidneys great, liver great, triglycerides great, no high blood sugar, no hypertension...etc... This is all in stark contrast to her health at her previous placement AND my mother was in a really good mood! My hat is off to Marymount for taking such good care of my mother when I cannot. I feel confident that she is in good hands and being treated with the utmost consideration and respect. Thank you so much, Marymount.

Brother Doing Well Since His Move Here

So far my brother is doing pretty well since his move to this community. It has been an adjustment for him with his move here, and he has had a couple of set backs. However they a good staff, and they are looking after him the best they can. He is comfortable, and so far everything is working out pretty well for us with this community.

My Dad loved the Area this was in - Downtown San Leandro, he liked that they Furnish the Room, but for $6,500 per month he expected it to be a little newer then it is, he liked it but wants to see a few more before he makes a decision.

Good care for a short time

We liked the care that we got for the short time. The staff was friendly and caring. The community is clean and a good environment for her. She liked the meals and the activity. We would recommend this community for the care that is offered for a loved one.

A Much Better Place

I feel so much better after we moved from a friend out of the place she was to here. I am able to relax knowing that she is in a much safer environment and that she is not being [Removed]. The home is always clean and smells good. The staff is wonderful very caring and attentive and professional. She is now eating well the food is good. She feels more secure being here and that makes her feel happy. It is exactly what she needed for her to thrive

I was impressed by the cleanliness, the atmosphere, meeting the Chef, the shared-room is very nice and could be the next best thing to "home." [Removed] was professional, provided me with information I need to make a decision for my Mom. [Removed]

It Is A Good Place

My friend is progressing and I feel pretty good where she is. They let me know that she is not doing well and the staff are trying to help. I am glad. that she is there. The community is clean and had good meals. I am told she goes down to the dining room and eats with everyone. I would absolute recommend this place to family or friends in need.

They feature bingo as an activity.

Amazing Assisted Living Home

It's such a difficult time making the decision to put a family member into an assisted living home. Using A Place For Mom to help me find Marymount Villa was a great help. We visited two other places and Marymount was the best one. It was the perfect size for my dad, not too big and not too small. It is beautiful, like a nice hotel. There are places where you can go sit outside and nice blocks to walk around in the area.

The people who work there are friendly, happy, patient and are angels in my opinion.

It's nice having the option of eating in the dining room with him when we visit.

They take him on outings, to his doctor appointments, and have afternoon entertainment every day.

I know my dad is safe and well taken care of and the piece of mind in that is priceless. The cost is very much in line with the quality of care that he receives.

Staying at Marymount Villa

Although it has only been a month since my mom has been living at Marymount Villa, I have not seen any problems. The caregivers along with other staff are very friendly and eager to be helpful. I like that my mother is kept busy and around many people.

Personable Place

Everybody is outgoing and they get him to do stuff and he's not pressured into anything. They were very upfront about everything and very helpful. I was hesitant at first because it didn't have an open feeling like another place we looked at, but it was smaller and that's what we wanted, just something more personal. We are very pleased with it, they are very understanding.

really great

Marymount Villa is a very nice facility. I like the way the elevators are close to the rooms. The entire layout really is very nice. I do not have any complaints about it. They seem to do a really great job.

Would not recommend

When I went in to take a tour of the Marymount Villa it was fine but when they found out he was a gay male they couldn't provide the level of services he needed. I wouldn't recommend the Marymount Villa.

not a memory care place

this place is all about what thwy can charge you and do as little for the patient as possible . they call themselves a memory care unit but are not equipped to handle any of the issues that happen to a patient with dementia i.e. wandering and agressive and or aggrevated behaviour.
When i moved my husband and came to pick up his stuff i found pee smelling pants laying on the floor in the bathroom that had been there since he went to the hospital 5 days earlier.they refused to let him return there until they kept him for 15 days which the hospital refused to do or unless i hired someone to follow him around all day to keep him from going into other patients rooms. After he was moved they refused to repay moneies that should have been returned since they breached the contract. would never recomend this place, they sais they would stimulate his mind but from what i coild tell they did nothing.

Newcomer at Marymount

Clean, friendly staff, kind attention to residents. Lots of sunlight. Lovely areas to sit and visit; sunny terrace, garden area, sitting room. Food is good. Plenty of activities. This is a very pleasant place to be. The staff seems to be genuine in their caring for residents with smiles and kind words. Attentive staff answers questions and helps.

Smells good!

formerly working in a facility made me really picky about smells and cleanliness. This facility doesn't look like any other I have been's more of a small hotel for those that need help in senior years!

We love this place.

We love this place! Everything I could want for my Mom. The staff treat her like a member of their family, and she feels it. It is clean and comfortable, and modern and efficient. Her room is lovely, and she gets to have her dog there. Very happy!

This seems to be a wonderful place. Good location, clean, nice smelling, pleasant. The residents seem happy here. The price is reasonable for what you get. This is definitely a possibility.

Too Pricey

They were like $4400, and I didn't find anything that they offered that Sandoval didn't, except that it was a little upgrade as far as furnishing goes. It was brand new, so that was expected.

Good for Independent People

My mom was there and when she was more independent it worked out better but as she needed more care services I think that was not a good fit. They say they do have memory care but it's just not a good fit for my mom. I think a larger facility maybe but because it's large and they have a lot of staff doesn't work well for dementia care. People with dementia need a very limited number of faces to deal with. I think that their care givers lacked training in general care.

Not Quite Right for Our Needs

I thought it was okay. We had pretty much decided on another place when I went to see Marymount. It was a little more expensive but that wasn't the issue. My father-in-law needs more full time care and this place struck me as one more geared to people who could get around and just needed help with meds and things but were more independent than my father-in-law. It's just didn't fit our role.

Lovely surroundings. Nice rooms and facilities. Seems like it has some nice activity offerings. Didn't get super warm fuzzies from the tour guide. Not sure if it was just her or if that's kind of the feel of the place.
