Customer Reviews

Excellent place. My mom lived there for 6 years. She made many friends, went to a lot of activities, and the staff was so friendly to both her and my family when visiting. Very clean which is something that is important when selecting senior care !! After a while you felt right at home with being greeted when coming in. The dining rooms were like you were at a fancy restaurant. Table cloths, cloth napkins, flowers on the table, staff all looking so nice, you could not ask for anything better. Food was good too. Senior care is something that is pretty special to your loved ones. They are no longer in their home and it is tough starting over. Layton Terrace makes that happen !! A great place !!

Review of Layton Terrace

It was difficult leaving our home of 46 years in Illinois. It was time to move in and we found our new home at Layton Terrace on Layon Ave. The last 4 years have brought us joy, comfort, and many new friends. We appreciate the caring personnel and they are especially attentive to make us happy in our new home. They provide many services to fulfill our needs.

My living

My husband and I moved here just about 3 years ago. My husband past away 16 months ago. I still live in the independent section. I have not had any complaints. Everyone of the staff and residents are very friendly.

Nice complex; tour was very complete and time was well spent. Impresses with the size of the rooms. Common areas clean and active with residents.

Stay away

Stay away it is all about the money. Communication is bad no return phone calls.

It’s unfortunate that we weren’t aware of this review earlier so we could have responded immediately. Having served so many wonderful residents and families, it is difficult to respond to a review like this without understanding the motivation behind the posting.
We have so many of our residents and families actively promote our community as being so friendly and caring that it is very concerning that this reviewer posted this. For those who are considering a community for their loved one, we encourage them to stop by, talk with staff as well as other residents, to understand what life is really like at Layton Terrace - - a warm, welcoming community with so much to offer older adults and their families.

stay away from layton terrace

horrible place. had some concerns about my mom's care and staffing. tried sending email and calling and no one answers my questions. my mom has dementia and lives in the spring house.
the spring house care is aweful. my mom was told she couldn't have dessert if she didn't eat her dinner. her room was ritger too hot or cold. dont think anyone even checked the temp. the cost for care is not worth the care .
turn over of staff is so great. I don't even think they are staffed fully to handle the residents they are assigned to. there are often residents roaming around looking lost and no one around to assist them.
please don't buy into the talk from administration what a great place spring house is .
would not recommend anyone sending their loved ones to live in the spring house memory care area.

The Laureate Group’s vision is and has always been to be the Provider of Choice by delivering outstanding service and value. We do regret that you feel your mother’s experience is not to your standards, though we are aware that other family members are quite satisfied with her care. Our understanding is that your mother loves the Spring House and has made many friends while being here. We are committed to providing quality care, and hope that if you have additional concerns you will let us know directly. We are a locally owned and operated company, and our leadership has always been accessible as needed to families.

This place is awful and all about the money. Expect to be overcharged for everything. Nursing staff charges for every pill given. i hope you don't live out of town as they expect you to come in and babysit your relative every time there is any issue whatsoever. Moms teeth rotted under her bridge and now needs dentures. There was no dental care of any kind. Staff is not trained to recognize medical issues as simple as a UTI. In the administrative/financial area THERE IS NO ONE IN CHARGE!!! Expect no answers. If you get one I can guarantee its wrong. Avoid this place. We are preparing to sue and we are not that kind of people

Dear B. Cary,

The Laureate Group’s vision is and has always been to be the Provider of Choice by delivering outstanding service and value. We do regret that you feel your mother’s experience was not to our standards, though we are aware that other family members were satisfied with her care.

Our community provides Assisted Living services which differ from services provided by Skilled Nursing Facilities. For example, there are times when a resident may need to leave the community to see a physician if the community Medical Director has not been chosen as the primary care doctor, or in the case of an emergency. This would then be the responsibility of the family. Whenever there is a medical concern, our guideline is to notify the family and many do choose to visit their loved one for peace of mind.

We are pleased that you were able to discuss and resolve your financial concerns with our Executive Vice President; her primary concern has always been the care and satisfaction of our residents and family members. We are a locally owned and operated company, and our leadership has always been accessible as needed to families.

Had toured Layton Terrace in early Feb. I believe. My concern with Layton Terrace is their limited participation in Family Care and emphasis on personal financial responsibility, giving the impression that when you run out of money you're out the door. I was impressed with the facility but not high on my list because of the financial impression.

Place has a nice entrance - living room type area. Everyone friendly and smiling. Memory area upstairs on second floor. it is secure. Bright area for activities and dining. Own kitchen. Some more able clients helping others. Couple of little sitting areas one with TV one with Organ. Outside patio area. No garden available since upstairs.

Very nice and updated, both the facility as a whole, and the apartments themselves. Down sides were location (not impossible, but a bit far south for easy visits from family), and the fact that the assisted living and independent apartments are separate from one another. Quite large, over 300 residents.
