Hollybrook Senior Living

Kind, considerate staff, willing to work toward meeting financial limitations.

Was a nice place great rooms. Parking a problem.

Thank you for your feedback. We now offer free valet parking to all visiting Hollybrook Senior Living. We value your opinion and time taken to provide your feedback.

[Removed], our contact, was full of information and obviously LOVED what she did there. She spent considerable time explaining their program and as well as asking and answering questions. Our main concern was his isolation due to his many hours of sleep reversing to constant calling for something. He would not have used a button to call for help. He also talks to his own visionary relatives and friends and it would have been difficult with a roommate. PARKING was the other main issue. I believe they are working on resolving that; but, at the time we arrived there was no parking except in the driveway.

Some Improvements Needed

Overall, our experience at Hollybook has been decent, but there are some things that could use improvements. When we were looking to move in, the people there went out of their way to understand what kind of care my loved one would need when he was released from the hospital. Now that we are there, the staff is still friendly and helpful with the residents, but they are not very good at responding to the families. The rooms there are also kind of small, and the location is not very good. The facility is nice and clean though, and the residents seem fine with what they get as far as the food is concerned.

Would Have Been Very Convient

This community was very lovely however I felt maybe the lighting was a little darker than other communities we had been in. The staff was wonderful very kind and friendly the residents that we saw seemed to be happy there. If it hadn't been for another community offering a move in special I might have chosen this one primarily because it is much closer to me.

Gentle Care!!

I have no complaints about how things had went at this community for my husband while he was in there care. The staff where kind and made sure to accommodate his needs to the best of there ability. I would recommend it to anyone interested though

Great Care!!

My mother was recently in this community for a short period of time and I was very pleased with how things went for her. The staff where kind and I was comfortable with the care they provided her. They always where checking in on her needs and making sure to keep in communication with me about her progress and any updates. I am thankful for the overall staff at this place and think they are doing a great job.

I liked this facility and liked the price, but being in the center of S.A., not much outdoor room for residents and parking for visitors was bad.

Rooms too small, and everything is...green

Needs more socialization among residents

This is a very nice facility and we enjoyed the tour. We felt this wouldn't be a good fit for my mom because there was not a lot of socialization among the residents. I felt they were off doing their own thing and it wouldn't be easy for my mother to establish friendships.

Very nice inside. Very friendly the residents are very happy. Not as close to me as I would like. Reasonably priced. Clean. Hard to find parking.

Very homey environment

We loved this community when we toured! It had a very homey atmosphere. I loved that they had pets and children come in weekly to visit with the residents. They even had activities with the children who came to visit. I wanted to move my mother here but they unfortunately didn't have any openings.

Dad's Care

This is a nice community. I like how the staff is caring and friendly. The meals appear to be good and appealing. He is offered activities, but at this time and seems to be happy being involved with the other residents. We like knowing it is clean and maintained. We really liked the feeling of this community and would recommend it to families for great care of a loved one.

Can not say enough great things about this place!!

I am overly pleased with the outstanding service this place has provided my mother. All of the staff including the housekeeping , administration, maintenance, activity director, and the servers have all been absolutely amazing at making sure my mothers needs are being met. My mom was only at this place for a month period while I went out of town and she did not want to leave. She plans to move there permanently when she will need long term assisted living. I highly recommend this facility to anyone looking for a five star establishment.

The community is very nice. The staff is nice, but more communication. Very clean atmosphere to enjoy. The food is appealing. they do offer activities. Others might be happy each depending on what they are looking for.

Nice Tour

I toured this facility for my father, I did like the community, but it just wasn't the facility for my father. The community looks great, everything is very nice and clean. The residents were very friendly. The rooms do not have their own temperature cage, and my father likes his room very warm. It was a pleasant tour.

About 90 days in....

When I toured the facility. prior to placing my mother, I was immediately struck by the cleanliness, updated furnishings, things in their place and the various public areas the residents could use...nice outdoor areas, great TV/movie room with easy chairs...dining hall is clean and run like a restaurant so residents can choose and order...price is very reasonable for private room...and my mother is settling in and confirming the fact that all in all, she's as happy as she can be!

Very Responsive To My Concerns

I'am confident about the care my father is receiving at the community. I know he is safe and in good hands. This is a pleasant community, they do a good job with keeping everything nice and clean. The staff is nice and very responsive to my concerns. He has tried many activities. He is pleased with the food. It has been a pleasant experience.

A Place That's Secure For Mom

This community is so organized, clean, and provide help like laundry. I love to hear my mom involving herself in the many activities like picnic, scenic drives and social time. My mom enjoys her meals and I was also invited to a Mother's Day Brunch. The staff are friendly, respectful and always on time with her medication. The only thing I would mention, is to make sure even all the small requests are addressed. I would recommend this community because my mom is safe and secure.

HIGHLY Reccommended

Everyone at Hollybrook make you feel so welcomed when you are there. Everytime I visit my Mom the staff there are always so nice and make my family and I feel like we have been friends forever. I highly recommend Hollybrook to anyone looking for their family or friends.

Disorganized and unprofessional.

Hollybrook is very disorganized. Each person gave me a different story of what was going on and why my Father needed to move from there. The way they handled it was not good and I could not get a straight answer. The staff is very sweet and young, but unprofessional. They lost both pairs of his glasses and his headphones and we didn't find out until his last day there when we picked him up to move him. There is a communication problem. The activities were fine. There's no direct access for them to go outside on their own. It's a sterile environment.
I was happy with A Place For Mom and their help.

My Aunt needs a little more care and help than Hollybrook can provide. She felt she was mislead, she thought this community was oversold and they were able to provide more than what they can. If she was more mobile it would've been good. There's not enough staff. They didn't help her with her exercises. She uses a walker, but still needed someone to walk beside her for assistance if needed. They did have an exercise group once a week, but she felt there wasn't enough activities she was able to do or able to get to, it was difficult for her to get there. The price of the community was good.

This is the only place my father has felt comfortable at and he is the happiest he's been in 4 years. They are clean and friendly. I wish that they had better activities outside the facility. It's a great place.

Hollybrook was our first AL place we previewed, every little detail was adequate, I thought the shared rooms were too small but the residence didn't seem to mind.

Parking Could Improve

I would definitely say that they probably could improve on their parking a little bit, but honestly that is really the only negative thing I have to say about the Hollybrook Senior Living at Orange facility.

Pretty nice apartments

We are getting settled in and so far the transition has been going pretty well. The staff is helpful and attentive. This place is pretty reasonably priced. The apartments here are pretty nice. There are a lot of activities for the residents to participate in that they really seem to enjoy.

Looked like an apartment building. Price was good, but facility not as charming.

They were not interested in Mom. Too much behavior. Fun activities, Caring staff. Challenging parking lot.

absolutely amazing

My mother is not the easiest person to work with, and they have done an absolutely amazing job with her. She feels very comfortable there and is very happy. The food is very good as well. They are taking excellent care of her and we are very happy that she is there.

So far so good.

So far so good. We haven't had any problems with them at this point. No major concerns or complaints. It's pretty much what we expected.

My mom was there for a year. She had laundry mix ups. Her clothes, jewelry, bedding and ID missing. [removed]. People there make u feel it's u fault if u complain. The price is good, but u get what u pay for. Look around when u tour the place . It's really dirty. The managing staff ( I've dealt with) is young and not professional. I have to say there are a few nurses that are great. There are of course some staff members who also do a great job. I believe it is the upper management that has not given proper training to the few who need guidance. I would not recommend hollybrook from my experience. I pulled my mom out and she is happier. There are many places out there, take your time to find the right place. I was desperate, and I regret I wasted time and money.

My brother seems to like it here.

My brother seems to like it here. I haven't heard any complaints, about the food or anything else. That is a good thing! It's clean and the staff is friendly. Really he is adjusting well, and we like it. It's working out well.

very pleased

They are very friendly, and they do an excellent job caring for my father who has dementia. They handle him very well. They told me that it would probably take him about six weeks to get settled in and comfortable there, and they were right as he is in that phase of it now. They have been very helpful and I am very pleased with them.

Caring Staff

I think the staff at Hollybrook is caring and kind. Sometimes communication is lacking and there are frustrations-disappearing clothing, mixed up clothing etc. In memory care it is difficult to monitor everyone even second. But I think they really try to work with the residents in what can be a very difficult situation. My mother has been there about 3 months and while it has been a very hard transition, she does like the staff.

4 stars

Nothing bad to say good place

Very Happy

I am so happy we chose Hollybrook for my Dad, they have been great from my first call in through move in day and have really taken great care of my Dad.

Very Appreciative

My Dad lives here, we are so grateful for all of the support we had from every employee at Hollybrook from the day we moved all the way up to now. I can't say enough about how happy my family and I are that we chose to move Dad here.

Excellent Community

I have nothing but praise for this community. All of the amenities exceeded my expectations. The community is clean, friendly and a great value for the amount. The care services and activities available are excellent. My Mom is extremely happy there. We made a great choice!

Nurses friendly, location convenient, range of activities

My mother is happy there. The nurses are very friendly. They call her by name. They know me as well. Everything overall is very good.

The location is very convenient; right between my sister and me, so we are both able to visit on a regular basis.

They have different group activities; bingo, movies, gardening, they have weekly trips to go out to shop.

They do a very good job,

They do a very good job, it's clean and the staff is really friendly. It's one of the less expensive places, and they are very attentive, and responsive. They could use a little more variety, with the activities. She says the food isn't very good, and the variety isn't great for someone with a limited diet. She says it's not very tasty. They have been very nice though, and we are happy with them.

I loved everybody there, they were all kind and wonderful.

I loved everybody there, they were all kind and wonderful. I had a problem, because they placed her in assisted living, after her assessment. They thought she would be alright there, but I didn't think she was doing alright. The doctor wrote a prescription that was as needed, and the community was not able to use discretion about how much to give and when, and I felt like the result left her over-medicated. They can't change the prescription and they have to do what the prescription says. The facility is really nice, and I would do it again, but I would have insisted she go to memory care.

Hollybrook, an excellent adventure

The ladies who took us on a tour were very nice and concerned about my mother well being. The facility was well kept and bright. The staff was always friendly and interested in us.

Over all I was very impressed with Hollybrook and look forward to my mother bring able to get in. She is still in rehab.

Our questions were answered quickly. Our needs, as well as my mothers needs were addressed and we were assured that whatever she might need to make her stay comfortable, would be taken care of.

I feel secure in the knowledge that she will be well taken care of.

Not Impressed

I visited here with my mother, and was not impressed. The location is not great, and there is a lack of parking. Some of the staff we talked to did not always seem knowledgeable, especially when we asked them specific questions. When were were shown the memory care unit, we saw residents doing some activities. However, these activities seemed staged just for our visit. These were also the only residents we saw during our visit -- only staff was around otherwise. It is an older facility, so some things are not very up-to-date. When we sat down to discuss things with the staff, they talked over my mother and to me instead of taking into account what she had to say. It took them two weeks to call me back and give me an assessment of cost, which did not include some basic things (giving my mother her medication, etc.). Overall, it had a very strange atmosphere, and we were very disappointed and unimpressed.

Hollybrook is a pleasant, active community for seniors needing assistance.

Staff facilitates the residents to interact and participate in activities or at least be in the community rooms with others rather than just sitting in their rooms.

Staff was most helpful during move-in and getting things in order such as getting the TV to work properly, running line for oxygen unit up and around to prevent tripping, etc.

Appreciated that several residents shared how long they had been part of the Hollybrook community and that they enjoyed living there.

Loved that residents actually order from a menu at each meal and place their orders in the same manner as being at a restaurant.

Funny smell when you first enter but the rest of the facility is OK.

Residents' artwork is displayed in the hallways and pictures of the residents are placed near the doorway so you can learn names and faces as well as where someone's room is.

Bright, open friendly, Food...

Bright, open friendly, Food/snacks available any time, Breakfast 7am-9, open menu, options Open seating, would need to share room.

Mis-Quoted the Care Charges

They were very friendly at first but they really underpriced the care services when I asked what the maximum amount I would pay in care charges would be. The first said $500 and then later they quoted us at $1500 and that was a couple of days before we were getting ready to move my grandmother in. I called a couple of times about this and asked them to call me back right away. They never called me back. I was very disappointed in their response.

Mom's new home

I'm glad I selected Hollybrook Senior living in Orange I love the staff and my Mom is doing well there!

small memory care portion

My dad was there for about two weeks. I liked the facility and the people. It was small and more intimate. They weren't qualified to handle quite his state of dementia so he had to move to the memory care. The hallways is only thirty feet long and my dad is not that bad. It was too closed in for him.

The facility looked nice, however, it is further than I had hoped.
