Customer Reviews

Very nice and safe independent living for seniors.

My parents love it. Food is excellent. Friendly people. Staff is nice and very accommodmating. Many activities. Higly recommended.

a very nice place lots of activities my mother was to Incapacitated two enjoy much of it. Staff was wonderful and good food. I didn’t like the management he was unresponsive

Parents love it here

My Mom and Dad have lived in Golden Oaks for 4 years, my Dad passed away n March 9th, he really loved it here, they lived in a 2 bdrm, 2 bath Apt, with their 2 cats, when my Dad passed away I moved my Mom into a 1 bdrm, 1 bath apt, and she loves it, The staff and the crew are absolutely wonderful, [name removed], [name removed], [name removed], [name removed], [name removed], [name removed] are so helpful and will help with whatever you need if it is within their capabilities, or direct you to a source for what you need. The facility is 3 floors, there are stairs for those that like the exercise and can climb them, they also have an elevator for those n walkers or scooters, everyday there is some kind of activity for the residents to partake in, my Dad liked Bean Bag baseball and Bingo, The facility is an Independant, all inclusive residence for seniors, if you are in the market to relocate and have many many friends your own age and want to join in the activities, then I suggest that you go take a tour of the facility and get a quote, you wont be sorry.

Too Much Like a Nursing Home

We took a tour here at Golden Oaks. The people were nice, and they had beautiful big fireplace. However, it just felt too much like a nursing home to my loved one, and that kind of turned her off to the idea of living here.

Aunt Is Doing Well

My aunt is doing great since her move to this community. This is a nice community, and I'am comfortable with her move here. I know she is safe, and good hands. The staff is kind, and helpful when needed. I enjoy the meals they serve, they are good, and well balanced. We have not had any problems with this community. I'am pleased with all they have done for our family.

Doing Okay After Move

Mom seems to be settling in here. She is slowly starting to meet new people and make friends. She is doing some activities and social events we are hoping that may increase when she gets more comfortable. She really doesn't like the food she doesn't think it is fresh but I have eaten there many times and I have liked it. The staff is very friendly and nice very helpful. We would recommend the community to anyone.

We like it

The staff have been helpful and they are involved with the residents. They offer a lot of activities to keep the residents active. The food is good. The community is clean and the grounds are well maintained. This community is close to family and I would recommend it.

Accommodating Staff!!

My loved one really has seemed to make a smooth transition into this community. The staff have been very welcoming and have made accommodations to make sure her needs are being met. I love the fact that she has been involved in a few of the activities and has made a few friends whom she really enjoys the company of. There are some complaints about the food but nothing major.

rent will increase dramtically

original rental rate increases dramatically, rate after 3 years has increased over $450 while inflation has remained flat. Very difficult to prepare for when on fixed income. Nice facility but very pricy

Wonderful location and great staff.

Friendly and great!

My grandma needed a place where people were friendly, but she could still get the care she needed. Golden Oaks is an independent living facility where she can get everything she needs. The caregivers are onsite 24/7 to be there for her, and we can pay for her level of care as she needs it. She has been there 3 weeks and has already made friends and has a routine. Everyone is so wonderful there, and the residents are very welcoming. We are very happy we chose Golden Oaks!

Attentive Tour Guide!!

The guide that assisted me with getting a view of the whole community was nice. Golden Oaks had a great scenery that my mother liked. The only available rooms were not on the first floor or close to the dinning room and activities center. The tour guide showed me a menu of the meals they sounded very good and nutritious. I liked that there was plenty of room outside for the residents.

Excellent Care

This community is wonderful and my mother is in the best care. The staff is excellent in making sure all of her needs are taken care of. The food is outstanding in everyway. They offer her activities to help her stay active. The community is very clean. I highly recommend this for excellent care for a great price and for everything that they offer for loved ones.

Communication Needs Improvement

The marketing person will tell you anything you want to hear to get you to move-in, and when that happens they turn it over to the manager who tells you something else entirely and so you are scrambling around trying to figure some things out. We asked several times if there will be wrist band for my loved one so he can contact the caregivers, but it was only for 911 calls, so we had to pay for an outside program and it was all just a hassle.

Not for disabled persons.

Definitely designed for independent living.

Not for Assisted Living needs

It is clear this facility only accepts assisted living residents in order to comply with the Fair Housing regulations but they are clearly not set-up to handle assisted living residents as well as facilities that were designed for residents with those needs. It is a shame they are forced to offer housing to persons who are clearly not going to be comfortable or feel accepted at this facility.

Hi, I'm Katie, I work at Holiday Retirement Home Office. First, thank you for bringing this to our attention. You are correct, Golden Mesa is an independent living community. However, we cannot refuse to rent apartments to residents with assisted living needs if the resident/residents family are adamant about them living in our community. Essentially, if the resident is confident that he or she can live in the community, we cannot refuse their application. With that said, if you ever feel that having residents with assisted living needs in your community infringes on your own rights as a resident, I highly encourage you to call our Resident Relations department and file an official complaint. Their number is [removed]. We want all of our residents to be comfortable, please feel free to bring your concerns to their attention if they are in any way escalated.

Thank you,
Katie

everything is great there

Everything about Golden Oaks has been great. It is a nice place with very friendly helpful staff and I would highly recommend them.

Friendly helpful staff and caregivers

They truly seem to care about the residents

The most impressive part of the facility is the management team. They truly seem to care about the residents. They also work with the family on any and all wishes.

Nice place, friendly staff.

So far so good. It's very clean, and the staff is friendly.

So far so good. It's very clean, and the staff is friendly. We checked around the area, and this wasn't the lowest priced place, but they were better for what you get than most of the places we saw. So far any questions, concerns, or requests have been handled well. My parents are pleased with the place and seem to be pretty happy. They haven't mentioned anything that needs to be done better, the food and the activities seem to be fine.

Staff could be happier

The facility is clean. The staff didn’t seem as happy – bitter and angry. Their price was higher than the other community we looked at and the parking was awful.

Thank you for noticing our attention to safety and cleanliness! Many of our residents choose to let us do the driving by taking advantage of our scheduled transportation service (included) and avoid parking all together. Also, our rates change from time to time, so be sure to check back in a few months!

Good Value

It takes PATIENCE to live here at Golden Oaks. Meal service is slow taking ninety minutes to complete the meal. Food is well prepared and there are four selections per meal. Activities are numerous but participation is low for a unit this size. The advertized Independent Living is compromized by many of the residents having outside caregivers. There are sidewalks for walking, exercise equipment and exercize class daily. Activities do not encourage physical performance to maintain a healthy lfestyle in my opinion. There is bus transportation four days per week to shopping and doctor appointments. There is good value for the money but residents are older and suffering from aging body parts. So there is good and bad.

Golden Oaks

The management team is very friendly and supportive. Terrie, the sales person, is personable and knowledgeable. Our dad is happy and enjoying his experience there. The price is competitive and the activities are frequent and varied.

They are great!

They are great! In looking at multiple different places, and they are all expensive, I feel like for what we get for our parents, the value is there. I think they have a good variety of activities. When I first got there I was a little concerned about the fire risk, but they have a good fire plan. We ate there once, and I think it's good food. It's always served very nice, and the presentation looks good. Their location was really ideal for us.

Golden Oaks senior retirement facility

My parents were victims of a Home invasion robbery last December, my sister and I found that my parents were having difficulties living in the home that they owned for 46 years, so I started to locate a senior independant living facility, I toured a couple of places, but I found that the staff, and the price at the Golden Oaks facility was what we were looking for. the staff was very knowledgeable on the facility and any question that I had they had answers. My Parents moved in the last day of february 2014, and are enjoying the meals, the activities, and getting to know new friends,

My father lives there. I’ve gone to ...

My father lives there. I’ve gone to visit many times. They have activities every day.
It’s an excellent place for independent living! I can highly recommend Golden Oaks. It’s probably the best community and I’ve toured quite a few. When you first pull up it’s just such a very welcoming community. Steve, the manager, was extraordinarily pleasant. It’s just a comfortable and nice place and the location is amazing. It’s in a very clean and nice area of Yucaipa.

Room for improvement

I rated this place pretty well, but there are definitely areas of improvement. The food is one of the biggest issues.. it could definitely be better. I was told that the staff would make the effort to get to know the residents' needs, and accomodate them. The food options are not great for those who have specific meal requirements. The staff does not appear to be aware of my loved one's needs, or of what food options they have. The options are limited, and are not prepared properly. The sales person assured me that they could accomodate all needs, but there seems to be a lack of personalization. However, this was the cheapest place I found, which is good. They keep the community very clean, and the staff members are friendly.

Great "hotelish" look

He was living at home and got a bladder infection, at the time I didn't realize how big of a deal those are for seniors but his primary care doctor didn't find it, they found it at Golden. When he got back from rehab they didn't have the nurses that he needed so we had to look for somewhere else. Golden was awesome though, it was the best facility I had walked in to out of the 8 or 9 I saw. It had a hotelish look of it, it didn't seem like it was just a board and care place, it was more townhomeish but they did charge you a lot more than the other ones I looked at.

Perfect on everything excep...

Perfect on everything except for the price just a little high for her budget.

I loved the site
