Customer Reviews

Look around especially if your loved one needs assistance

Our family was new to the concept of assisted living when we started with Elmcroft. There are friendly staff here and they do care about the residents. The facility itself is also nice. However, they are understaffed and promise to do more than they are really able to do. There were significant gaps in care. Accounting was never consistent and often a process of rechecking bills to verify their accuracy. This process itself was scattered and not consistent. After leaving this facility our family member stated over and over again that they didn't want to return due to not feeling properly cared for with medication and supervision.

My visit

This is a large community with an enclosed courtyard. The community seemed clean when I toured it. The people I met were nice. I thought this community was just a little to large for my loved one.

Thank you for your feedback! We are glad you enjoyed your tour and had a positive experience with us. We are sad to hear you went a different direction.

I needed to move my mom into a secure community that was locked. Recently my mom started wandering away from where she had been previously living so I had to make the difficult decision to move her. This place is the right choice for her. The staff is very nice and extremely honest they advised me not to visit quite as often to let her try and readjust to her new surroundings and as hard as it has been their suggestion seems to be helping mom. The community seems to be extremely clean and well maintained. The staff keeps the residents busy with things to do so they are not just sitting around. I think now that mom is in right place she will do much better here and now I don't have to worry about her getting out at night and something bad happening.

Thank you for the kind review! There is no greater honor than to be trusted with a very special member of your family. We know how difficult the decision can be and we are glad your chose Elmcroft.

Good workers but not truthful

They seem to be very good with all the elderly people there, including my mother. The only thing is they do not take the time to work one-on-one with any of them. They do not tell them truthful answers to questions and that should be done so the dementia patients can accept the reality of things.

Mom is Very Well

This is a very nice community, and my mother is doing very well since her move here. The staff is very kind, and helpful. I know she is safe, and in good hands at this community. They serve good meals, and have plenty of activities available for the residents. Everything is working out well for my family at this community, and I would recommend it.

Thank you for the kind words! We work very hard to create the best environment possible for our residents!

A tour for care

We toured this community. The staff were nice and were able to answer the questions we had on the care that is offered. They offer a nice menu and activities. The location was just further then what we were wanting. We would recommend families to tour this community for the care of a loved one.

Very Good Staff at this Community

This is a nice community, and my mother is doing pretty well since her move here. She has gotten involved in a few of the activities they have available. I know she is safe, and in a good place. They have lovely staff, they are kind and very friendly. The meals are decent, but overall well balanced. They do a good job with the cleanliness of the community. Everything has worked out well so far, and I would recommend this community.

Thank you for your positive review! We are so glad to hear that your experiences have been pleasant. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and we want to let you know that we love having your mom here.

I am not happy with the care that my friend is getting at this community. The staff are not taking her our of her room. The community is not as clean as it could be. There seems to be a lack of communication with the staff. I was able to speak with someone who was respectful, but she acted like she did not know what was going on. They have offered her activies, but she does not want to partivipate. I suggest other familes consider the care that is given here and take a tour for the care.

Thank you for your feedback. Our top priority is making sure our residents are receiving the proper care. We do have new management in place and we are more confident than ever that they will continue to enrich the lives of our residents. I am sorry you had a negative experience with us.

Not Even Doing The Basics

It has been a few months and I have noticed they are not providing the basic care for my love one. In the beginning I asked what I needed and they said they were able to do it all. Now I am exhausted making sure they do as they are suppose to. The director has a great personality and ensures things will improve but they it don't last. They have a mixture of good and unprofessional workers. To improve they can screen their employees better

Lovely Tour But too Expensive For Us

I had a decent tour of this community. Everything went well, and everyone was very kind to my family and myself. The community looks very nice, everything I saw looked nice and very clean. The staff was very kind and friendly. There are nice resources available for the residents. It was a lovely experience, but a bit expensive for our budget.

Wonderful music program!!

My mom and dad seem to be really getting involved in all of the wonderful activities this community offers. My mom especially seems to be enjoying the great music program they have on campus. They also have been going on many field trips and outings with the other residents throughout the week. I am very pleased on how active my parents are staying and how much they are enjoying there new living environment.

Nice place!

The staff here is doing a wonderful job with my friend. The transition has been hard, but with the caring staff and willing to help it has gotten better. The community is always kept clean and neat and my friend has not complained about any problems with the food. I would recommend them.

They Tried Their Best

My mother has since passed away, but her experience here a decent one. They do have some good people here. For the most part the staff tried their best to care for her and her needs. She had some problems before entering the community. There were some concerns we had. Overall for the most people they tried their best.

Mom Is Still Adjusting

My mom is getting the adequate care here. They have activities available for residents however my mom is not participating yet. The community is clean for the resident and guests. She is not really liking the food but it seems okay. Overall, it is meeting her needs but not her expectations.

Dad Is Doing Good

I am pretty much happy with the care that is provided. There is room for improvements. However, The community is clean and my dad'd room is also. The meals seem to be good for my dad. They have activities available for the residents and my dad to participate.

A newer community!!!

This is a clean community and the people that conducted the tour were friendly and knowledgeable. The building looked well taken care of. They were a little more expensive than the community we chose.

A great place to live!!

Mom is doing great since moving into Elmcroft. She loves the dining room and the food is good. The staff are friendly and my mom enjoys their company. I would recommend this community to family and friends.

The staff in this facility is amazing. They are commited to their residents feeling confident and happy at any age. The layout is great too!

Deb really sold me on this community. She was very thorough and informative about the services offered at this community. They offered all of the services on my must-have check list for my mother. The community is a beautiful property and very well maintained. The decor was modern and welcoming. It had a welcoming feel to it when you entered the secured building. The staff was very friendly. The rooms were great sizes and had large bathrooms to accommodate wheelchairs and walkers. It did not look or feel like a nursing home. It was priced within my budget.

They were prompt getting back to me. They were able to send me information quickly. Very helpful and really listen to our needs and followed up as well. I would definitely refer them and will use their services again in future if needed.

Three Stars

I am not completely happy with the Elmcroft of Twin Hills place at this moment. I really can not say anything about any improvements that need to be made at the facility, whether it is dealing with staff or the place itself.

The care is great, clean environment

I have only resided at the Elmcroft of Twin Hills for a short while, but the environment is fairly clean and friendless is okay the care services are great, overall I would say satisfied.

A Little Extra Goes a Long Way

I am very pleased with the service Elmcroft at Twin Hills is giving my aunt. She enjoys the beautiful surroundings as well as the kind staff.

very good experience

We had a very good experience with Elmcroft of Twin Hills. They were very accommodating, and great at communicating, letting me know how things are going and getting back to me in a timely manner.

Nice place, be careful with the medication service

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2015:
I have a post already on this page regarding the policy regarding medication and the use of their pharmacy.
However I now have several months of REALTIME experience with this facility, as my mother has now been at this facility since June 22, 2015 and todays date it Sept. 5th, 2015.
This is going too sound impossibly odd, but I have had an absolute SAGA getting the bedsheets changed weekly.
I've spoken to upper management 3 times, yesterday became the 4th time.
I arrived and asked my mom if the sheets had been changed on Thursday as promised by management, she said no, and that the spots were still there. Spots?????
I went and checked my mothers bed and there was feces smears on her sheet.
Management gave me the same excuses they'd given me before, that this was a training issue for staff.
My observation: Not enough staff for the actions required for the services promised.
I'd suggest you visit the facility a lot, if I was an absentee child, I have no idea how many days my mom would have slept on soiled sheets.
Depressing.

JULY 2015
In terms of the care provided by the aides and the facility in general I think Elmcroft of Twin Hills does a good job. However, I would advise families look very carefully into their medication plan, if they have a loved one requiring any sort of medication. Any sort of medication has to go through Elmcroft's pharmacy, which was not made very clear to us during the sign-up process.

I think she's doing well there.

I think she's doing well there. I haven't had any complaints about any of the staff, or about food. So far it's working out well. I think we chose this one because they were a little more reasonably priced than some of the others we considered.

You need to hire more help for patient care. The care takers or partners are overworked. It is too much to expect what you ask of them. Only one housekeeper. Really!

promises made but n ot kept

We put mom here in July. Told the staff about mom's dementia. They said they could handle mom with a little prompting. We were paying the lowest rate $71 per day. In October we were contacted and a meeting was scheduled. We thought they would probably want to increase her rate to the next level. We were told after they said they could handle mom and only 3 mos there we were asked to leave. Told us they were not a memory care place. The move in was tough on all of us but the move out has been very inconvenient. Be very aware of promises made and promises kept.

A Place for Mom 5 stars and Elmcroft of Twin Hills 5 stars.

I'm so comfortable with Elmcroft of Twin Hills in Madison, TN that I don't feel the need to check in on dad everyday. They have gone above and beyond the call of duty to make sure dad is safe and comfortable. He can't see or remember how to turn on his tv. They turn it on for him in the mornings. I've had to call and ask them to help him change the channel to the football game.

I'm taking a 5 day vacation soon and I will have no worries.

Thank you Liz Maxwell at A Place for Mom! I couldn't have done this without your help.

Great place and highly recommended!

I was totally at a loss when my sister needed more care than my mother could provide. She was also suffering with her health. My sister had a stroke and was still recovering. I called A Place for Mom and they were able to help my find
Elmcroft and I have been very happy with the decision.

Like that it has a 2 bedroo...

Like that it has a 2 bedroom unit in their price range

Nice community. Encourages...

Nice community. Encourages sharing a room with another senior. My Dad's not interested in sharing a room.

Small, Activities Director ...

Small, Activities Director and Nicole (assistant caregiver?) both friendly. Nice dining room, looked at studio and 2-bedroom (nice big bathrooms) popcorn every afternoon. Smell of air freshener a little overwhelming. Not able to meet nursing staff. Cust Rev = 2.5-3.0

There have been some real issues.

The first week she was there she was robbed, they took some jewelry, and then they came back a couple of weeks later and a few other people were robbed. She woke up in the middle of the night and there was a lady standing over her and said she was doing the laundry, at 3:00 in the morning. I have called and never have been able to get a response. There was another person who ran this community before and they were top notch, that person is not there anymore. The people in the cafeteria are nice and the nurses are really good, but Suzanne who really runs the place, doesn't seem to have very much business sense.

Care was not appropriate

We ended up not having a good experience here and moving my loved one out. The level of care was not appropriate. When we were touring they made it sound like the care they provided in assisted living would have been sufficient for my loved one, but it was not.
The facility itself was clean, and the staff were friendly, but be sure the level of care if appropriate for your loved one.

no stars

This is not a place I would want my loved ones I worked there for many years and only stayed because I wanted to be sure that residents were ok at least on days I worked. Should really think twice before putting anyone there.

This place is a disaster

We had nothing but terrible experiences here. They assured us they could take care of Mom, but that was NOT the case. One day we got a call from a family who had found Mom in a Burger King where some good samaritan had driven her when they found her wandering around near a busy highway. Mom had on a device that sets off an alarm if she leaves, and when we picked her up from the family that called us and brought her back in, sure enough, the alarm went off. We waited for a few minutes to see if anyone was even paying attention, and eventually we had to go try and find some staff, and they were all in the dining hall having a meeting of some kind. They had completely missed the alarm twice. We moved her out that day, and demanded the money we had paid back (which they did not want to give, but did eventually).
They were chronically understaffed, and the workers just seemed like they hated their jobs.

Wonderful so far

They've done everything they can to make my loved one happy, and he seems to be comfortable here. They've really gone the extra mile to work with him, as he can be difficult. The staff here is just great, and I really hope we're able to continue to work with them for a long time.

Close to perfect

We are very pleased with it, I hesitate to say someplace is excellent because there's always room for improvement but they take very good of my sister, she's extremely happy out there. She's well fed and extremely happy with her apartment. The staff is wonderful, they are so friendly, I guess from the first time we went in, course we met a few people when we first came in and they still have not forgotten our names. It's a small place but it's not that small, it's cheaper than every other place that we looked. She's had some medical issues since she's been there, nothing to do with Elmcroft by any means, but we haven't actually had a normal month because their monthly rent kind of goes with the amount of care they give. She is so well satisifed and she gets along so well with everybody.

Residents seem happy

There is some tiny thing they can do that would make it better. But our love one is better off here then she was at home. Since being here she now looks great and seems pretty happy. The people here seem to be happier then at the other communities we looked at.
