Fantastic place for an elder person

The best place ever. Every one that works there whether they are on my Mom's reminiscence floor or not know her by name. The individual care and extra attention and care when needed is amazing. Within the next year I have to move out of state to Pennsylvania but thank God there is a Sunrise facility near where we are moving and that is where she is going. Never a doubt in my mind that this is a fantastic community for my mom and the loved ones of others. Don't hesitate to put your loved one into this facility

I’m not really sure why this didn’t rank as high with me but I guess because it is kinda more corporate than homey feeling. The staff was nice enough, but feel like there was not that warm fuzzy feeling. It is beautiful, light and airy. Great screened in porches, nice rooms, smelled good. Just not my fav.

Out of the two, my father-in-law was most comfortable with this facility and so were we. A homey place. It's nice to have a receptionist at the front, as well as a nice house pet. [Removed] gave us a complete tour and she also provided a good overview. The rooms were very nice. It was good to see a lot of folks in the common areas, of course we did go at lunch time. It is possible to walk to the bank and several places to eat. The in-town location was also favored by my father-in-law.

Great meals and activities!!

My husband is currently doing a short respite stay at this community and so far we are pleased with how things are going for him. The staff have been helpful with his everyday needs and I am comfortable with the care he has been receiving. He has had no complaints about the meals and is starting to participate in some of the activities with the other residents. Overall this place has been a huge help to our family and we would recommend it to anyone.

Very Nice

Brighton Gardens of St. Charles was a very nice and clean community that we toured. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. We chose another community because we were looking for all of the rooms to be ground level and it was a bit pricey.

Nice Community

It was was a very informative tour. The staff was very friendly and caring. It has an older, quaint feel to it. We ended up choosing another community because of the wait list and found a community closer to my home.

Family feeling!

My mom loves it here, she has really perked up since moving here. The staff is prenominal, they are on top of any issues that may arise. They are all so super friendly. She loves the food and won't miss a meal and the interaction. They offer activities and try and get everyone to participate. She enjoys going to the hair dresser every week. The community is very clean and smells great. My family comes to visit and have commented on how friendly it is. The location is great, it's close to my house and we go out to lunch often. They offer transportation to go shopping or take rides around the area. There are a group of residents that go out lunch once a week. So far they have brought in therapy ponies, and they have concerts twice a week. She feels very comfortable and at home here. She is celebrating her 104th birthday next weekend and they are throwing a party for her. She told her therapist it's like one big family, everyone looks out for each other!

The staff at Brighton Gardens of St Charles spent lots of time answering our questions. The facilities are beautiful and the staff is very responsive. It would have been an excellent choice for my mother, but another provider was closer to her doctors.

After speaking with [Removed] (she was wonderful) we will consider Brighton Gardens for my Mom. I like their overall philosophy of care and think my Mom will feel comfortable and well taken care of. The facility seems a bit tired in some areas.

Care for mom

My mom is at this community and she is liking the care from the staff. We like knowing that the community is clean and she is please with the menu. They have activities that are offered to the residents. We would recommend the care from this community to other families for good care for the value of a loved one.

Friendly people!

I also had a good tour of Brighton Gardens. It seemed to be in good shape, and everyone was friendly. The tour guide was able to answer our questions and give us good information, it was a good experience.

A good experience!

My mother is doing fine at the Brighton Gardens of St. Charles. I like the care she is receiving from the staff as well as the activities they have available. The meals that they provide there are very good. I would recommend this place to anyone looking.

A tour for mom

This was a nice your. The community is older then what we wanted. It was like a hotel that was remodeled. The staff was nice and friendly This community was clean but did not have what we were looking for. The activities would have been helpful for her. We would recommend that other families tour this community for the care of a loved one.

Friendly Staff!!

The staff was all very friendly to my loved one and I during our tour. They made sure to show up on time to our appointment and greet us with a warm welcome. There property was very well maintained and had lots of great amenities to it. I however did not like how they charged for every additional thing my mom would need at this facility and at high cost.

Big Facility!

The Brighton Gardens of St. Charles was a very large place, very busy with a lot of activities. The people were very friendly and the community was maintained very well. It was also on the pricey side.

The Best Care for My Father!!!

My Father is 87 years old and suffered a spine fracture in September 2016 from a fall at his home... he also has level 2 dementia.... he's been in rehab and other facilities and things weren't going so well for him... We then did some more research and learned about Brighton Gardens... we decided to move him in there about a year ago... since then he has been improving immensely... We are amazed at the excellent care that my Dad has had at Brighton Gardens... he's in great spirits and is more involved in social events, etc... The staff at BG REALLY CARE about their residents and their well-being... They always go the extra mile to accommodate and help their residents and their families in all ways possible... it's like a breath of fresh air with positive energy everywhere at BG... Their motto is "The Joy of Everyday"... they really do bring it... We're convinced that it's the best memory and dementia care facility in the country!

We toured 2 times. Very helpful staff. Caring community. We talked with several residents too. Love this place. This is also private pay.

Extremely happy with Brighton Gardens.

I have three family members that call Brighton Gardens home. Two are in the assisted living and love the care they receive and the third is in the memory care and thrives there, I love the care she receives.

Above and Beyond

We are so thankful to have found such a wonderful home at Brighton Gardens for our uncle who has dementia and resides in Reminiscence care. From the interview process to moving him in to his new home, the staff at BG has been exemplary. Since day one, they have treated him like a member of a close knit family with love, consideration and kindness. They are a staff of truly caring individuals with a servant's heart. My uncle has been a resident now for over 3 years and we hope that he will be able to live out his life in the care of these special people. Aksel, the care manager has gone above and beyond to help our family with decisions for our uncle which are in our uncle's best interest. While some assisted living homes appear to be run as a business, Brighton Gardens stands aside as a home whose staff truly cares for their residents and their families.

Brighton Gardens of St. Charles, IL- Above all the rest!

Where should I begin? The journey of having an aging parent with Alzheimer's really is a tough one. Brighton Gardens staff have been nothing short of exceptional throughout this entire process (from the greeters at the front desk baking cookies to the caregivers doing hard work with a smile). I am a nurse myself and have seen and given a lot of care. The caregivers here are beyond what money can pay for them to do their job. Led by an excellent team leader, Axsel, this group of staff truly feel the love for their clients. From comforting hand holding to painting nails to just listening to the clients. My Dad entered looking pretty bad and is now thriving and in the best condition he has been in for sometime now. The staff makes the difference and no job is ever too big or too small. Not to mention that it is beyond clean and a lovely environment filled with music, pet and even natural light therapy (with bird noises) for the residents to enjoy. My Dad is happier than he has been and so are we. I feel 100% secure that they will do what is best for him and we are much appreciative! What a gift to have so many dedicated and loving employees all in one facility! Thank you Brighton Gardens!

So pleased we found BG for Mom

Our mother was at BG for 5 months. I can't say enough about the loving, knowledgeable staff that interacted with her and with our family during her stay there. We attended exercise class, played board games, joined residents for meals, and stopped in frequently, always feeling welcome. Unfortunately, my mother's health was declining rapidly when she first became a resident. A couple months in it became clear that she needed more attention to daily needs, and we supported her care provider's decision to move into the memory loss unit. Everyone at BG who cared for her was thoughtful and had Mom's health and well being at the center of their decisions. The staff addressed our questions and concerns willingly, either in person or by phone, at all hours. They took time to help us know how to best support our mom in her last months of life. My siblings and I are forever appreciative and grateful for the nurses and staff we interacted with at Brighton Gardens.

A wonderful place

Our family's experience at Brighton Gardens was exceptional in every way. The public spaces and residents' apartments are spotless, the food was delicious, and the attention to Mom's care exceeded our expectations.

Mom required much attention and she received it lovingly from the administration, the caregivers, the nurses, the housekeepers, and the program coordinators. The staff at Brighton Gardens not only cared for Mom but for all of us, too. As Mom's health failed our family spent a lot of time at her bedside. The entire staff filled us with emotional support along with coffee and tasty treats from the kitchen 24 hours/ day. Our questions were answered clearly and always with a smile. We could not have asked for a more wonderful place for Mom. Every day, every effort was made by every staff member to engage her mind, body and spirit. Many thanks to all at Brighton Gardens for their loving care of our Mom. We could not have asked for more and we will miss our visits with administration, staff and residents alike.

So thankful for the staff at BG

I can't say enough about the loving, attentive staff that cared for my mom for the 5 months she resided at Brighton Gardens. Unfortunately, my mother's health was declining rapidly when she moved in, and we agreed with her care providers that she would be better served in the Alzheimer's unit where the staff patient relationship is more personalized. The staff members who cared for her in both wings were thoughtful and knowledgeable, and they were always available to answer our questions as we chartered this new territory as a family. They were kind beyond words, and they continually sought to improve our mom's quality of life. Staff members took the time to help me and my siblings support our mother from the start to the end of her life and we are forever appreciative and grateful. Thank you so much to everyone at BG!

Wonderful understanding caregivers

Our mother came to Brighton Gardens with a chance of improving her health after her husband had died of cancer. That never happened and unfortunately my mothers health deteriorated rapidly -- at no fault of Brighton Gardens. The people couldn't have been more cordial and helpful to my Mom. They know how to deal with difficult situations and put my mind at ease knowing that Mom was getting the best help possible

Very Accommodating

My mother has adjusted amazingly to community she really loves it! She is doing very well at Brighton Gradens it is a very nice place to move to. It is a very clean looking community never had any concerns with that and it looks super nice on top of that. The has been really helpful with everything they really helped my mother adjust well with the move there. She has made new friends and even tried some new activities and that is very nice for her. They have been very accommodating with everything we are really happy with this community.

Great place for Mom

This is an excellent facility for assisted living, and they also offer Alzheimer's care. The staff are highly professional, proactive, cheerful, and fun to be with. I include the nursing staff, caregivers, activities people, and kitchen staff in this assessment. There are many activities and local excursions to restaurants, shopping, and entertainment such as movies and theater. There are also frequent, wonderful guest performers that come to the building to entertain the residents. It is a very active and positive community. Prices are competitive, and the facility is well maintained. We have been visiting mom here for 3 years now, and are very pleased to have found this community.

Great staff

This is a large community with a great staff. It does seem like they have a high turnover rate, but that is how it is in the industry. The staff that is there is caring and helpful. There are plenty of activities, but the food could be better.

I'm very happy. The people are wonderful, very caring.

I'm very happy. The people are wonderful, very caring. It's more like a hotel, no funky smells. There is no dread to visit, the room is very nice. The food has been wonderful. They were in line price wise with other places of similar quality in the area.

Very nice people and caring people. Food could be improved. Currently appears to have a large staff turn over.

She thinks it's just great there.

She thinks it's just great there. She thinks the staff is just tremendous. We are very happy with it. I would definitely give it a five at this point.

I really liked this one too. Lots of activities and "fancy."

I was very impressed with this place! The staff all were so friendly and helpful. The director took great time and care to educate us on assisted living and how it could benefit my mom. Lunch was terrific - even the chef came out and introduced himself! The staff were all tenured, most of them over 6 years - even the wait staff - who introduced themselves to us at lunch and knew each resident by name. The idea of a personal care manager gave me peace of mind, knowing there was one person who would be caring for my mom and making sure her experience there was enriching on a daily basis. My mom's only hesitation was the size of the apartment - which was very small - like a hotel room. Other than that, this would be my clear choice.

Friendly, accommodating staff

They've done a good job so far at Bright Gardens of St. Charles. The staff are very nice, and they've treated us well. Really the only negative aspect is that the community is a little on the large side.

the residents there are happy

They communicate very very well, and they make you feel very comfortable. It also seems like the people there at Brighton Gardens of St. Charles (the residents) are genuinely happy. They have also been very patient in dealing with me through the transition process, which I really appreciate.

Would not recommend

We have had a terrible experience with Brighton Gardens, and I would recommend avoiding them. We've had problems with the care, communication from the staff, and just staff attentiveness in general.

They are doing a pretty good job.

They are doing a pretty good job. It's pretty clean and the staff is friendly. Their rates are pretty good. The variety of activities to participate in could be better. The food is pretty good, I would say about a four. Initially we were in the memory care unit, and recently moved to another floor. When he was in the memory care people would wander into his room, they could keep a little better tabs on the wanderers. There were also a list of repairs that never got tended too. We chose them based on the actual way that they would care for my loved one rather than just letting him be on his own.

Review of Brighton Gardens of St. Charles Alzheimer's / Memory Care in St Charles, IL

Outside garden in MC was nice - Do not think there was avalibility in MC

Great assisted living facility!

Brighton Gardens is an excellent choice for placing your loved one in an assisted living facility. My father has been there for the past 3 1/2 months and I am pleased with the amount of assistance that he receives. The staff is friendly and really seem to care about the people in their facility. The room size is adequate for his needs.

Very friendly and caring staff!

The staff here are absolutely wonderful, and I love seeing the relationship they've developed with my love one. They seem genuinely interested in her comfort and well-being. The staff are also very good about staying in communication with our family with any updates on how she is doing.
One thing I would like to see are a few more small daily activities in the memory care section. They've had some great bigger activities for holidays but it seems like when I visit they mostly are just sitting around.

Looked nice

We toured this location when we were looking for options for our loved one. It seemed like a nice a place, it was clean and the staff were friendly, but compared to others we saw it fell a bit short. It was an older facility, and it showed a bit. The residents also didn't appear to be as active as other locations we saw.

I wanted a place that feet like home for mom

I frond it to be a feeling of a home that my mother wood like .

Awful food

They are doing a pretty good job. The food here is awful. It is overcooked, the meat is dry and the coffee is just awful. They do a nice job of keeping rooms clean and taking the residents for walks and exercises. They are not as attentive medically as I would like. Overall it is not a bad community but it could be so much better.

This is a very nice community. We were paying about $5,200 a month. They are more costly then comparable communities. It was very clean and staff was very nice. We really liked this community and felt it was a good choice. It seems as though it changed hands or under different management because it is not as good as it once was. Since the change it just wasn't what we were used to and was not as impressed.

Friendly staff

Part of why we chose Brighton Gardens was the friendliness of the staff, and also the look of the place. Brighton Gardens of St Charles is very clean and has homey touches. Also, the look of the studio apartment is very well done. They have a variety of services they offer and are quick to respond to questions. I looked at six or seven other places with different options such as memory care, assisted living, and home care services. Brighton Gardens was the best fit including its location. They have followed through with everything so far.

ease your mind

It's been 3 and a half years, since they gave mom 90 days to live. I can't give a great enough rating to the staff and facilities at brighton gardens. Having had the experience of a grandmother in a state institution in the 50's, My anxiety level went to a 10 when we had to make this decision for mom. Three years gives me a reason to rate this facility at the top. Coming in at all hours, I have never had cause to question the care mom has received. Cleanliness is impeccable. Care givers treat your loved one as their own. Nursing staff is on top. Activities coordinator Great! Food good! You are immediately informed of any problems.. If you choose brighton gardens for your loved ones? Your prayers have been answered!!!!!

Absolutely fabulous! Top of my list....

Absolutely fabulous! Top of my list. Great staff, activities appear to be what I believe we would need. I like the fact that there is a life-enrichment person to take him on walks around the facility. The room he would be in isn't the most appealing, but adequate for this point. Don't really like the fact that the shower is not located in his room, but willing to accept this one drawback for all the rest of the very positive features they would have to offer.

Homey, comfortable feeling, therapy dog, cat, individualized care. Nurse not 24 hour, but one on call at night. Receptive to new activity ideas.

This is an Assisted Living home with ...

This is an Assisted Living home with roughly 100 residents, about 1/4 of whom have Alzheimer's. The Remembrance unit keeps the Alz residents from wandering, and the caregivers in that area were very, very kind to the residents we saw while there. Seemed to be trained in dementia-care (as opposed to just elder-care). The visit went on a little too long, but we got a good look at the facility. Odors in some areas, and the 2nd and 3rd floor hallways were really confusing even to us. No colors to help guide you to certain hallways, everything is the same color, yellow. Home has a resident dog - Peyton. Kind of cool, unless you don't like dogs, or are allergic to them. Residents can have pets as long as they take care of them. More expensive than other places we have seen. Levels of care as needed are added to your bill. Outdoor area for Alz residents was small and not conducive to walking for exercise. Unfortunately, the Alz area was also not built to the new specs of dementia research; needs short, wide hallways with a window or door at the end, color-coded areas and doors to identify their room or their area for starters. Training for caregivers is done on site. Doctors see them in their room. Beauty salon was nice and inviting. Dining area was also nice and open with great older music playing (big band). Many residents were downstairs in the community area. Well-groomed and waiting for visitors. It's an assisted living facility really, with an area for Alz since many people end up with that disease, but the plan is really to leave people alone (independence) instead of addressing alzheimer's head-on with proven methods of care. Their selling point is that they design the care around the resident - whatever their needs are, they will be taken care of.

This is definitely a possibility for ...

This is definitely a possibility for Mom. I was very impressed with the tour.

From the Community

Brighton Gardens provides assisted living in an apartment-style setting that offers the simple pleasures - nutritious food, comfortable surroundings, and the support of a warm, caring and competent staff. A separate Special Care Center for residents with Alzheimer's or other memory related disorders is also on-site. The key to our success in the Special Care Center is our dedicated and compassionate staff, which receives special training and supervision. Our Special Care programming offers a variety of activities designed to achieve memory enrichment and positive social interactions. Caring for residents with dementia is a partnership between the community and the family, frequent family visits are encouraged and support groups and advisory councils are arranged. A Short Stay Program for seniors who need short-term care may also be available. It is the ideal alternative for recuperating after a hospital stay, while family caregivers are on vacation or if you just want to try out assisted living.
