Customer Reviews

This is a nice friendly facility but sadly they didn't have rooms available for respite care.

Only been a short time...

It has only been less than 3 weeks but we are very satisfied with the care and attention our mother ( Adele Rodgers ) is getting.

I recently moved my parents into an apartment at Oakleaf Village. We had toured two other places prior to our decision to move our parents here. They have an excellent, knowledgeable, and friendly staff and fine facilities. The deciding factor was that the memory care unit was right on the grounds, connected to the assisted living apartments. It is a relief to know our parents can visit each other and not have to drive anywhere.

Great place for your loved one

Staff is very friendly and professional. They display a genuine care for the residents. My father is in the memory care unit so this is important. Would like to see more in house activities as boredom seems to set in at times. Musical entertainment is bought in at various times. Also, the Life Enrichment Coordinator will take the residents in the memory care unit on bus excursions to various destinations in Lexington and Richland counties, usually once a week.

Our visit to Oakleaf was wonderful!! Karen is amazing, helpful, & so caring. We had a fabulous tour - as Karen explained all aspects of their facility! Mama would be very happy there!

I think they are doing a very good job.

They keep it very clean, the carpet could stand to be replaced, but other than that it's clean. They are very friendly. When I am there and I bring anything up, they get right on it. They are pretty good with communication too, they let me know right away if something happens. They take him out for a ride sometimes, and they will bring entertainment in, and do activities with him. The food is good, and he is definitely eating. Sometimes I wish instead of a 1:8 ratio of staff to resident, it was more like 1:6. I don't have any complaints though, I think they are doing a very good job.

I spoke with Vicki Caldwell who was very informative and polite. We had a very nice tour. Our visit lasted around 2 1/2 hours. The rooms turned out to be somewhat smaller than I had expected. I liked the type of activities provided which fell in line with my father's interest. The views from all the room windows were very nice to see. I liked the care charge packages.

A deposit was put down for a room. We are still concerned about moving her, but it seems to be for the best.

Too "lock down" for me

This was very nice. It was clear that here, mom would need to be in memory care and to me, that just didn't seem like a good fit. There was no smell but it felt closed in to me, I wanted my mom not to be locked into a place but have the freedom to go out. I remember they had all these recliner chairs lined in a row and they said some people liked that and some people didn't, and I guess I was one of the people who didn't.

Some medication mishaps, but they fix it right away

I don't really have any complaints per se, I've had to follow up a couple of times on her medications. One time, she was given an incorrect medication that morning and recently she's been starting on metamucil everyday, and they didn't start that until very recently. They've been really good once I bring things to their attention and they always answer my questions promptly. It's been a big adjusmtent for her but she's happy at Oak Leaf and people have gone out of their way to make her comfortable, she's made some friends and she likes the staff. her only complaint, and this is probably not a valid complaint, but she says that they give her smaller portions than everybody else.
She is getting good care and even though there ahve been some mishaps with the medication, the caregivers have about 30 people they look over so I understand that's going to happen, just as long as it's not everyday.
