Customer Reviews

nice lunch tour

we toured last week for our parents,we liked the idea of haverhill due to closeness of family. we had been in once before, and decided to give it a go again.we were told to go around lunch time to see / taste the food, very good.compliments to chef's who prepared a lovely meal,we had our own waitress ([name removed]) she was wonderful.we were waiting for the other shoe to drop and it did. saleswoman can be aggressive (nothing is for free ). we sensed urgency ( think used car sales pitch) we noticed lots of empty apartments, but were told ,"better make a decision quickly or will be gone" ?? building does not present well, lots of odors, dirty feel to it.we have a lot to think about.

consider the move

nice place, not what expected from other reviews.. not let down by the food.we had a lovely lunch, our waitress reminded us of our grand daughter..(smart and cute! ) we liked the apartment, the halls in the building look in need of a good cleaning,an off odor kept creeping in. saleswoman kept coming up with excuses for ripped carpets etc.over all we are strongly considering Haverhill. first because we have a good feeling about it,and second we live nearby..if you want a fancy place ,not for you.but the longer you stay and see other residents smiling you will like..folks in the restaurant seemed very happy, and the girls all knew their names and heard nice comments after they left the tables..( nice sign )..

Best Assisted living Community!!

I can not say enough about Benchmark Haverhill Crossing. They excell in all areas. The compassion caring environment is so comforting. You always see the employees smiling. You know they love there jobs. Knowing that my family member is being. Cared for here is such a piece of mind. We love it here!!

great tour

we had a pleasant visit with Haverhill Crossings, not what we expected ( we toured others ) not as fancy but the longer you stay very nice..first off nice woman gave us a nice tour,we were offered lunch! let me tell you the food was not as expected.. first class! from the lovely waitress ( haunting accent! ) we asked for salmon and a cheeseburger to keep things simple.the presentation was great, burger huge, and a great cheesecake for dessert how can you go wrong...ladies next to us invited to come back for lobster roll day!..we have a lot to consider apartments on the smaller side, some remodeled some others not? staff in hallways seemed nice, lots of hello's .for the price could be nicer looking, but we are looking for care.we will strongly consider

mom happy

overall good choice for us, we were promised first class by sales ( of course ).. has not lived up to that but good.. workers are pleasant ,noticed some residents are in need of attention. we like the dining area, girls in the restaurant are nice, and treat mom " like a queen".. we dine occasionally and have been happy..lobster rolls yum!..laundry and cleaning have had some hiccups, if you ask to get things done you will get results, annoying at times though. some turnover in management makes us nervous.over all happy

toured for mom

we had a pleasant tour last week, nice refreshments offered ( biggest muffin we have ever seen) fresh fruit etc. the apartment we saw looked nice, but walking thru we saw some other ,not so nice ,not sure if it is a bait and switch.people in the hallways seemed friendly enough, one thing we noticed was the aroma, like a bad air fresher.we couldn't put our finger on it as we toured. asked to use the restroom and we found it filthy.,urine smell and the floor very sticky etc.,noticed it had a grimy feel to it overall. we are considering because of the proximity to our home.we are hoping next visit goes smoother when we bring our mom

getting settled

so far so good...very happy so far.i am a little bored as the activities are boring ( they read the obituaries for an activity).the young man in the kitchen said we will have picnics and cook outs this summer, that will be nice, had one so far and it was grand.i like the dining hall, and the girls i sit is very good, and they seem to try ,and get me special treats the office is nice, help we with apartment bathroom need to be cleaned, housekeeping not very good.i have asked about my cleaning schedule but to no success.the nurses are far so good

Pretty Good

I have lived here for a while now. Things have been okay. People that work here and who I live with seem to be very nice. Food is good. Soups are really good. Girls in the dining hall are Pleasant. My room it's small. And needs to be cleaned more than once. I have asked for additional cleaning I was told we are short-handed doing the best we can. I understand that but for the money I am paying my room and bathroom are filthy. The girls come in very quick before I have time to ask they are gone. The supervisor is very rude sometimes when approached. I've spoken with my daughter and she said she will fix it for me ..I hope

felt the pressure

first off, had strange odor, like air freshener but not quite.carpet and lobby bathrooms were dirty. offered refreshments from a young lady from the kitchen, seemed nice.sales woman greeted us and wanted us to go to a room to talk.very pushy, asking a lot of financial questions. felt un easy. we were warned ahead of time of the high sales pressure, but we were not expecting that level.trying to create sense of urgency no rooms etc.,she needs to be retrained.we left and won't be back.we felt the need to leave the review to save another family from the same experience

Look Elsewhere

Started off great, going downhill fast. Original administrator and DON have moved on and the entire atmosphere has changed. BASIC CARE for MAXIMUM RATES now only. RCA staff has had huge turnover, can’t speak for nurses as you never see them. They just yes you to death and collect the $$$.

we were driving by ,saw a sign for tours today..we have looking for a nice place for mom,and we do not live to far away. first off strange odor, like lysol mixed with urine.. we used the restroom before our tour , set the tone for us,dirty and a strong smell of urine?.. offered coffee etc.and we were off. we mentioned we have just started the process, and the sales person went into high gear..tried to create sense of urgency that there would be no vacancies!.. we mentioned the new facility built near by and we were going to tour as well. we were wished good luck, and that we would be back?

needs to improve

first impressions not so great...had strange odor like lysol mixed with bad deodorizer. used the restroom in the lobby ,and was filthy ( urine on floor and base of wall .machine was out of towels to wipe hands.we told a person pushing a cart with supplies,we were told we are very busy right now??rude would be the best way to descibe.. after waiting in the lobby for ten minutes, we were offered some refreshments from the kitchen, person seemed nice ,but to late for us.we cut the tour short, as we did not feel comfortable...need to work on customer service..

first tour

we decided to walk in to take a tour, as this was advised to see day to day. glad we did,we felt the atmosphere to be hectic. we were not greeted at the door,in fact we sat ten minutes until we were greeted by a nice gentleman from the kitchen area. the building has a strange aroma, and feels dingy. my husband used the bathroom and found urine stains/aroma on the floor. hallway carpets are stained, and the paint was peeling in one area. we decided to cut the tour short ,as the sales person was asking to many personal questions...not for us.

Rude management

We first want to start off by saying overall we are very happy here in Haverhill Crossings. Mom has adjusted well she likes the other folks she lives with within the building. Food ,girls in the dining room Exedra all fine. The care mom gets is great. Laundry could be better but I think that happens everywhere. Our issue is with housekeeping. We have asked several times to have moms bathroom cleaned. Situation got better but now housekeeping non-existent again. When we approached the supervisor he told us we are doing the best we can only so many hours in a day and you will have to wait your turn. Not the first time

so far ,not so good

so far not so good.. the apartment is dated and dirty,we were shown a different apartment that was brand new? housekeeping is non existent, bathroom is in need of has been good, girls are nice in the dining everyday?,something else would be nice. care services ok,wait for your turn etc. .we are going to wait and see,but needs improvement. lots of gossip among residents and staff ,makes us nervous

I did not personally tour this place but my brother did. He found the staff he worked with
very friendly and informative. He thought the rooms he saw needed refreshening: They had seen better days. No kitchenettes but the facility had a "country" kitchen that residents were free to use. He was impressed that they offered in-house hospice when it became necessary. Room prices were reasonable; however, the cost for assisting residents with their medicine was $500/month which we both agreed seems very high.

Getting adjusted

We are pleased with most of what Haverhill Crossings has to offer. Mom has adjusted better than we hoped, moving to a small space can be a tough thing to do. Happy with care for the most part ( waiting for the nursing assistants to help out can be long).Taking part in some activities is also a good thing. We love the girls in the dining hall, and also pleased with the food quality and selection.( great soups/chowders) We are having issues with the apartment being cleaned, girls seem nice but rushed. We have seen the supervisor a few times, but can be rude at times. Over all we are happy.

not first class

First observations have been a mixed bag. I like some of the residents here, not many like to talk as much I do. My apartment is o.k , needs some updates ( new microwave oven ). I like the girls in the dining room , cute and attentive.Surprised by the food, very good so far,my family loves the soup/chowders. My laundry situation is not good, lost items etc. Housekeepers seem nice , but not very good. I don't think my bathroom has been cleaned in weeks.I have been told they will get to me when they have time. Overall not a bad place ,but not first class.

We are looking for placement for our Aunt , saw the sign out front offering tours so we stopped in. We waited nearly ten minutes before being spoken with until a gentleman from the kitchen came out to say hello and offer us some refreshments ( very nice [name removed]? ).The tour was brisk and the building felt dreary. We felt it had a dirty feel and aroma but we could't put our finger on it, lots of air freshener smell.Overall we did not feel comfortable,I am sure the people who work there are nice, but not for us..

Better options

we chose haverhill crossings because my aunt lived there six years ago. my how things have changed.. first off the smells in the building remind us of a bad nursing home, mom's apartment is filthy, suppose to clean bathrooms etc, housekeeping is non existent. supervisor very nice, but is not taken very seriously, always seems to pre occupied with out of work activities. bathrooms in hallways have a dirty is happy here but we feel guilty for placing her at haverhill.she loves the dining room and chatting with girls, playing bingo etc. we hope this review helps

I live at Haverhill Crossings, for the most part I am happy. Of course I miss my home ,but I have adjusted.. My findings so far: The girls who care for me are pretty good, some good some not so hot. I was surprised the food is very good, nice selection, the waitresses are very sweet. ( best is cheeseburgers and the hot soups).. My complaint is cleanliness..,my apartment is supposed to be cleaned, the housekeeper is not very good, the supervision is non existent. My visitors say the building is dirty and smells like urine.Bathrooms is the hallways are disgusting.Sorry to be so harsh, but I am frustrated!!..I will be looking elsewhere

False promises

Worst decision ever made. Poor management, the director seems inept at best. Mom's apartment is filthy, when we visit unannounced the staff seems surprised and tells us she has been "difficult" this a.m. Is that any excuse to ignore.?Never a straight answer from Director, always defers to another manager who is always to busy for us..Our mistake. We should have noticed the heavy smell of Lysol, facility is smelly and dingy when you visit before housekeeping arrives. One plus the fresh muffins and coffee supplied by the kitchen staff

bad experience

initial expectations were high due to a friends pleasant visit. She said food was great, waitresses were very good etc.we couldn't get passed the smell of urine, reminded us of a nursing home. we were offered refreshments but passed ,left as soon as salesman was done with his pitch

food was very good on our visit, cute and funny waitresses. building had an aroma of urine,no activities past four o'clock.not the place for us

We selected this facility as it meet our budget requirements and as far as we can tell was as nice and supportive of all the other more expensive options.

Great Staff!

The touring staff was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They were very timely and provided snacks. We did see residents participating in activities. The establishment is very quaint and austere. We were looking for a newer, brighter atmosphere for my relative.

A good place

The person that took us on tour was knowledgeable and helpful. This is an older building and they do try to keep it clean. This seems like more of a medical community than a social community.

Excellent Experience at Benchmark Haverhill Crossing

Benchmark facilities we visited were all helpful and informative. Dad picked the Haverhill facility over the others since he found a special connection with the staff and the most comfort with the facility.
The process was as easy as can be expected making dad as comfortable as possible in a difficult decision.
Mom is doing very well and the care she is getting is exceptional. The staff is caring, friendly, and always watching their residents. Guests are always welcome and highly encouraged.
I would not hesitate to recommend not only Haverhill Crossing but any of the Benchmark facilities we visited.

They have been excellent.

They have been excellent. I don't have any complaints at all. They are so nice, they go out of their way to help both the residents an the family. They were really comparably priced to the other places. I liked that it was close by and had plenty of room to park.

They were all overpriced, ridiculously high, so I'd give any of them one star.

The only thing I really don't like about it is the way they do medication. His diabetic medication is hard to manage. I'm not sure how much of it their fault; I have to be more involved than I want to be.

I like the location, because it is close to my brother and me, and in the location where he has lived for most of his life.

They seem to have alot of activities, all day long. They have movies, every Sunday they have a coffee hour, weekend religious services. There are four or five things going on each day. They had an antique car show there once; it was pretty neat.

When I had a couple of issues to raise with staff, they got back to it right away. On one instance, my father's room was too hot; they had a team meeting to discuss the problem, and the issue has been solved.

Very friendly staff

So far we have been very pleased with the services provided by Haverhill Crossings. The facility itself isn't the nicest or the newest place we saw, but the staff are all very friendly and professional and they've been able to provide all of the care that my loved one needs.

The staff at Haverhill Crossings was so friendly and it is obvious that they all are very attentive to the needs of the residents. The building is showing its age a little; the carpeting is showing some wear, but overall it is a pleasant place for my mom. They offer many activities during the week for the residents, and we just enjoyed a Halloween party for the families and residents, complete with trick or treating for the grandchildren! She loves the food, and there are always options to choose from when she would prefer something different. They plan trips, have a hair salon, laundry rooms, and plenty of "living room" areas for residents and families to use. The location is awesome- just off Rt 495.
