Customer Reviews

Closing

We were perfectly happy with this place, up until they informed us that they are closing in July. It would have been nice if they told us ahead of time. One aspect that could use some improvement is the dining room, and the way they handle their food service. Also, having more staff would have been nice. The quality of the staff is great, but there's just not enough. They really don't have a great amount of activities. They have a few, but they're not very fun. However, the style and the design of the rooms is great. Whoever the architect was did a great job! Also, it's not as expensive as some of the others in the area. They were very helpful in getting our insurance going. Overall, we were pretty happy here until they told us they are closing.

If you don't need a high level of care then it is great.

I would suggest that anytime someone is coming from a nursing home that you not push assisted living. She is not getting the care she needs. She is miserable there. The only thing that is really good is the food, some of the aides and the medtechs are really good and the head nurse is fantastic. They do some of the things that need to be done begrudgingly. They don't have the facility and the capacity to take care of someone in full need, even though they said they could. They told me that they would take her around and help her get acquainted the first week this did not happen.

Increasing Rent

I loved it, it was just that when I was signing paperwork, she mentioned that the rent was going to go up each year. It was already high, and I think it would go up 5%, but I am not sure. They tried to promise all types of stuff after that, but I didn't want to mess with that. They had the definite transportation, and they would have taken him back and forth to dialysis no problem. Sometimes I wish I would have went with them, but I knew that the money was going to be outrageous.

Our 2nd choice. I liked this place alot, and had some advantages over the Windsor (bigger apartments, surrounding residential neighborhood, more interesting excursions. But Windsor's approach to multiple levels of memory care was very clear, while it was vague at the Vickery leaving us unsure. It took a long closure phonecall with Jeanette for me to understand how they approach different levels of memory care. It sounds like it may be very suitable, but I sure have liked to see it clearly laid out somewhere, instead of having to almost interrogate them for the explanation. That said, it is still my 2nd choice, and I suppose most other places do memory care similarly.

Impressed with the openness of the facility. Well stocked library, common areas were clean and well kept. Security cameras were prevalent and apartments were spacious and updated. Residents were active, throughout the facility and I even witnessed an exercise class. Staff was friendly and active....the atmosphere was upbeat.

Exceeded Our Expectations!

My father's in independent living so he doesn't use the care services. There's housekeeping and meals and those are good. I could eat there everyday and they'll actually let you! We haven't had very many problems with them at all. We had some problems in the apartment like the phone didn't work. That turned out to be AT&T's fault. We had some plumbing issues and they sent someone up right away to fix it. If they can do something they do it. They've been above my expectations. We're pretty satisfied with them. My dad was very critical at first but he's coming around. He's made some friends and he loves the food there.

Helpful in answering our questions

We chose Vickery Towers for two reasons: location and cost. Vickery Towers is located close to my sister who will be my mom's primary caregiver. I did the research in finding places and my sister contacted the places I had found. All of the places she contacted were eager to reply, however, Emeritus at Vickey Towers was the most helpful in answering our questions. My sister was very impressed with their responsiveness. Initially we had thought our mom would need assisted living care but after talking with the staff we learned that she could choose independent living [which she wanted] but still receive additional care services that she needed. There is a doctor on site that can see her when she needs them.

Vickery Towers is a very nice facility. We met with director and she was very helpful. Their Memory Care floor is very attractive and is decorated very appropriately. Unfortunately they do not take medicaid for memory Care residents.

we very much liked this community. They were not expecting us but spent alot of time with us. It is in a very nice neighborhood and loved the security they have. Liked the facilty, very, very nice.

Very large rooms, which is nice. But - the building felt very old, carpet dingy and had a smell. We were in the tower that took medicaid so it was a bit rundown. I'm sure the other tower is nice.
