Happy Aunt, Happy Niece

My aunt has lived here almost since the place opened. It started off great, then there seemed to be a lot of staff changes last fall, which concerned our family. We decided that it was not a good idea to move her around and around especially since she loves being there and she was still getting the care she needed. Thank goodness she stayed. She is so happy and has made good friends there. The staff seems to have stabilized too. I was able to attend the last resident meeting and hear all of the good things that the people had to say. They only negative I would say is there are sometimes kid like activities and not for adults. Not all of them, but some of them.

Caring staff

The team at Cedarhurst has been wonderful to my uncle. We have seen great care every time we visit. Staff are warm and caring. The Director has made time to answer our questions when we call for updates and when we are in town for visits, called us daily with updates when he was sick during the holidays. We were thrilled to receive a Christmas day so he could tell us Merry Christmas. We are so glad we chose Cedarhurst to care for him.

Lots of Empty Promises Here!

Our loved one has been a resident since the facility opened in March 2018. Wow...it seemed to be a perfect fit when we toured with [name removed], who was awesome, but no longer there like most of the staff we met. If only they could deliver what was promised in the beginning. Staff turnover is obnoxious, Executive Directors have come and gone, a Regional Director was overseeing last we heard, which is a joke. No structure, no follow up, no compassion for resident needs whether medical or preferences. Missing personal belongings that are labeled. The onsite, "state of the art" medical clinic still under construction...supposed to be done May 2018. It's unfortunate because it really is a pretty property but don't let looks fool you. I would not recommend. We are in the process of moving our loved one to another facility.

Neglectful

My mother has lived at Cedarhurst since it opened. During most of that time they have not answered call buttons timely. It can often take over an hour for assistance. They are perpetually understaffed. Terrible care. Feel sorry for the employees that are there.

Regional Miss Direction

Having gone through several Executive Directors, Maintenance Directors and numerous staff, we moved our parent out!

Having now placed a Regional Director in charge that is a absolute travesty to all staff and management as well as residence, was the final straw. Employees are seen crying, upset and quitting on a regular basis. This is not the place to be a Dictator! Show compassion, love and understanding.

Dining experiences are short of expectations when half the time there out of food. We have even been told by staff that the Regional Director tells them there is no more money for things until the end of the month.

Safety is a great concern. Hot water regularly runs through the cold water lines and drains continually overflow. We even had a Fire Alarm go off and no one knew what to do. Not even the staff or Project Coordinator. Please don't do this to your loved.

Staffing

Beautiful facility and great residents to work with. Unfortunately, they are looking for another executive director -this would be the fourth one I believe. And to top it off, turnover rate for all departments is very high for a new facility. Yes, this happens at a lot of facilities, but mind you, they just opened in March. There’s an issue when most of the nursing/clinical team had resigned in span of a few weeks. Residents and families are not blind to the lack of staff needs and they are not naive to what goes on and what is told to them by upper management. It all starts at the corporate level. When you don’t have owners who are experienced in healthcare who don’t know what goes on in their facilities and only care about how fast they can have people move in, then you will see how much they don’t care about the staff who are taking care of the residents. The ratio to staff to resident is unrealistic. The acuity at Cedarhurst Naperville/woodridge is very high, just like one of a skilled facility. If corporate cared about the well being of the residents and staff, then the turnover rate for staff would not be high.

Choose wisely

Would not recommend. Brand new facility and excessive turn over with 4+ Executive Directors. Care issues and complaints. Consistency, relationships and security should be a priority!

I visited and toured the facility on Saturday [date removed]. I was very excited about the beautiful lobby and the rooms are very nice. [Name removed] was very helpful in explaining everything available and what the costs and specials were!
