Right Next to a Beautiful National Park

Birch Bay Retirement Village borders Acadia National Park. This means there are myriad opportunities for hiking, bicycling, kayaking, snowshoeing, and just plain walks in the park. For less athletic residents, proximity to Acadia means opportunities for scenic drives, boat rides, and horse-drawn carriage rides to enjoy the spectacular scenery. There are also many dining possibilities and cultural experiences available in the town of Bar Harbor. Birch Bay's excellent maintenance crew takes care of gardening, snow removal, routine maintenance, and any special repairs, so that residents can spend more time doing the things they want to do.

Upon retirement 25 years ago,we made our home in Trenton,Maine .Four year ago,we moved to Birch Bay for health reasons.the atmosphere is friendly, empathic and caring.the food is delicious and compares favorably with many of the popular local restaurants. There are many activities to choose from.A van is provided for shopping trips, walks in the park and occasional meals at local restaurants.the local physicians, nurses and other health care professional are good.It is comforting to know that they are quickly available.the grounds are beautiful and well take care of by the maintenance crew.

Nice but expensive.

A lovely place but prohibitively expensive. Intended for well planned or those who are well-off individuals. $390.00 per day for their Safe Harbor wing.

Disappointed

Was great at first, but under staffed and a big turnover. Music is almost non existent now and for what they pay the food is unacceptable. Very disappointed at how it is going downhill.

Dissapointed

Was a nice place at the beginning, but going downhill fast. Under staffed with a big turn over. Very little music entertainment and for what they pay the food is bad most of the time. It's too bad but starting to think we should be somewhere else

A+!

Beautiful facility; brand new in 2003 and very well kept. The grounds feature beautiful gardens and a 1/4 mile walking path. The food is delicious and prepared by a talented chef. Music Therapy is offered to Residential Care residents. The staff are personable and professional.
