great place

My dad moved in over a month ago and he love it. the staff is amazing, very very nice and my dad say the food is good so thats a plus

Haven't Spent That Much Time Here

My wife hasn't spent much time here due to her being ill. But the little time that she has been here there have been I have not been overly pleased with the attitude of the administration or the nursing staff. There have been a couple of people in the administration that have been helpful but for the most part, I have not been pleased. I wish they would offer transportation to places like dialysis treatment centers even if it were an additional cost it would make my life easier.

My mom is doing well

My mom is doing pretty well here she likes her apartment and the staff has been helping her with her transition. She does like going down for the afternoon bingo and she has a special table in the dining room where she joins her friends during lunch and dinner.

I See Mom Happy

My mom loves it there. She loves the people, they are friendly. Everything is good. She thanks me every time I visit her, which is everyday. I like that the community is open, airy, fresh looking, and exciting.

Pleasant Tour

I had a nice tour of this community. Everything went well. The community looked nice from what I saw, and everyone was nice. The staff was helpful, and my questions were answered. The experience went well, but this was not the right community for my mother.

Very nice place!!

I have no complaints about the tour I had taken of this place, I actually was very impressed. The property was very well maintained and you could tell the kept up with all of the cleaning throughout the building. They had a great floor plan with lots of great amenities for all of the residents and it was easy to navigate. The only concern that I had was they did not have enough long term memory care that my mom would have needed.

Mom is adjusting..

My mother has been slowly adjusting since her move into American house. All of the communities are different, so I can not say that I would really recommend this one in particular. The meals are okay, but they are not geared towards anyone with a special diet. It's been a little bit of challenge. Right now I would say different parts of the medical team there are better than others. In home care are good, but the daily care I have not been very impressed by. Other than that, my mother is doing well and still adjusting.

I love that everyone onsite immediately wanted to know my mom's name. This was during the tour. When she moved in 2 weeks later, all the staff called her by name. Each staff member I come across for what ever reason acknowledges who my mother is and her apartment number to be sure they understand exactly who we are discussing. My mom has been here 6 weeks. MY MOM LOVES IT HERE!

A good community.

My dad had a good stay at American House. The staff are accommodating, patient, supportive and went above and beyond to accommodate his roommates needs. They offer daily activities. The food was average and the one thing I think they could have approved. They do offer additional service for an extra charge. The apartment was nice and this was a good location for us. I would recommend this community.

Father's Home

I like this community for my father's care. The staff are very nice and caring. My father does not participate yet. They need to work on getting a generator if the power goes out. This is a nice community and we are happy with the care and the value.

Great Community

We toured this community and it was wonderful. They have a lot of great things going on They had a good variety of meals that are offered. Activities would have been nice if we would have moved to this community. It appeared to have a good feeling here. We would other families to this community.

Our top choice!

When I toured the American House I wanted my friends to move into it. It was very clean and everyone was very friendly. [Removed] and another lady took us around and they were very nice. The reason we had to chose another place was because of the price, it was higher than what they could afford.

I loved this place. The residents were so happy and engaging. It was clean with lots of activity. The rooms were very nice and so were the common areas. Unfortunately the prices were very high and my mom cannot afford this facility.

Very Nice Place!

The Southland place was very nice and well maintained. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. The placed provided meals and housekeeping. The only reason I did not move in here was it was out of my price range.

Positive Atmosphere!!

It really amazes me to see how all of the staff know everyone by name even though it's a really large community. The staff always have time for the residents and are really attentive with them. My loved one enjoys participating in bingo, painting and their meeting class. I would highly recommend this place they go above and beyond.

Place for Dad

My husband's family found this a reasonable and applicable place for their dad. He now has an apt. but has not moved in yet. We can not grade care services at this time.

Tour was wonderful!

The staff that took me on the tour was very knowledgeable and kind. The community was very clean and well kept. The food is served and I prefer to make my own food. They offered many activities. I would recommend this community to friends and family.

Would not recommend

I toured this community while looking into care options for a loved one, and overall I was not impressed at all by what I saw. The staff here just did not seem to engage with the residents at all, and the community did not have a very friendly vibe in general. I also received conflicting information from various staff during the tour, which did not really make me feel at ease. Based on my experience I would not recommend this place.

Not a great place

My parents have been there quite a while but we are looking to move them out. One elevator breaks down about once a month and the last time it took 3 weeks to fix it - which meant the residents had to walk a lot further. They do not have a back-up generator, and they lose power about 4-5 times a year, sometimes for a couple of days - this is scary when residents live on the second or third floor and have no elevator. The staff try hard, but cannot overcome these difficulties. The doctor only comes once a month and the Physician's Assistant is not equal to a doctor. Supposedly a Podiatrist or Chiropodist comes regularly, but every time we asked, we were unable to get an answer as to when, so we finally just went elsewhere for foot care. The place looks decent, but there is also a lot of traffic noise.

I really thought the first visit was open,

I really thought the first visit was open, friendly and welcoming. The environment had a lot of light, and better cleanliness, than the other American Houses I saw.

It was a nice place overall.

I toured here. It was a nice place overall. They were very friendly. I was surprised that there were not more inclusive options. When I went I saw the residents at the lunch meal, and that seemed okay. I saw the activity rooms but I didn't get to see the activities in progress. There is some difficulty with having one loved one that has high care level needs, and one that is fairly independent.

Nice looking place

I toured this community when I was looking into care options for a loved one. I actually looked at two American House properties, and I was pleased with both of them! This is a nice looking, clean, well kept community, and all the staff I spoke to seemed very friendly and professional. I ended up choosing another option based on proximity to family, but this was somewhere I was considering.

I am very happy with this community!

I am very happy with this community! Mom is doing great, and adjusting very well. I would give them fives across the board. The place is clean, and the staff is all very friendly. I really don't have any complaints or anything I would like to see done better.

Not impressed

My loved one hasn't been entirely happy here, which may be due to the fact that she wasn't quite ready for this level of care. In general I haven't been impressed with the community overall. The patient services and kitchen staff have no been particularly friendly, and the activities could use a lot of work.

The food would be maybe a two.

The food would be maybe a two. They could be more flexible with the meal times they have assigned sessions and most of the residents want the later session. The big meal was in the early part of the day around eleven or so, a late riser would have breakfast then have a large meal right after. The price could be a little lower. They have contracted out services that could be brought in house that would be great.

Looking for a place for my mom

I took my mom here so she could get a feel of how it was. They set up a luncheon date for us and then a tour. After our initial interview with the director we were introduced to a resident on their welcoming committee to have lunch with. We were able to see the dining room and the residents at lunch. The food was delicious and we were given choices to choose from. We were able to ask the resident questions about the place and then we were taken on a tour of the rooms and the common places. My mom really liked it and it seemed to fit in with her lifestyle which is a little more active and she chose this place after touring 3 others. She has been there almost a month and is very happy there.
