Smiling

My grandmother has never been happier. [Name removed] is amazing and her caregiver [name removed] is dynamite.

Mommajoy

Awesome staff always helpful My family and I are so happy we chose this place.

Love this place

Amazing care and home like environment. You feel like you're home when you're there.

I am so happy with the care that is provided there and the staff is amazing

Great experience

My mother was a resident for years and the care she received was thoughtful. My mom wasn’t always easy to care for but the staff persevered. Anytime there were any issues I felt comfortable to address them with the administration.

Happy

My Uncle has been a resident for about a year and is thriving which makes us very happy

My mom has been a resident at Amber Court in westbury for 9 years and I love walking into this warm friendly atmosphere to see her. Everyone knows her and our family and we couldn’t be more thrilled over how safe we feel knowing how well she is being taken care of. Administration is always visual and willing to help. ❤️

So Disappointed

I live out of state and was eager to visit my aunt. I was disappointed and saddened by the conditions at Amber Court of Westbury. Although the receptionist at the front desk was very nice, no other employee greeted my aunt or any of our group during our visit. We spent quite a bit of time in the social areas… and we seemed to be an inconvenience. Employees were not motivated to help when simple requests were made.
I had hoped/expected that the environment for the residents would be inviting, cozy and colorful… at least something that came across as warmth, but other than the entrance, it is shabby, barely decorated, and institutional. There is a strong smell of urine near the elevators. When we went to her room, there were clothes on the bed that had been laundered. When I went to help put them away, I was stunned to find that they were VERY damp. It was IMPOSSIBLE that the person who had that responsibility could have missed that. Evidently, that is a common occurrence. In addition, belongings of hers are frequently lost (or [Removed]?).
There are numerous problems here. How could this facility meet the standards that are required by the board of health? How could it have received accreditation? Aren’t the employees accountable? Don’t they have frequent evaluations? There should be regularly scheduled training sessions that all employees are required to take as well. Sessions that explain dementia and its ramifications, that recommend techniques for dealing with challenges and develop compassion. As well as courses that teach professionalism and courtesy.
Facilities that accept Medicaid are few, but I would not expect that they would be substandard. I would NOT recommend this place and hope that reviews of this nature will prompt some action to improve conditions for all the residents there.

Amazing, a true family of care

My grandfather is in this assisted living facility and he is loving it.[Removed] the recreational manager is the best, her energy and enthusiasm brighten everyone's day.The staff is extremely helpful they treat every resident like family.

Stay away

The help could care less, [removed] and the management of the facility does nothing about it. All they care about is collecting money, and the management of this so called assisted living facility will lie to your face. I would liken this place to more of a morgue than assisted living. Stay far far away from it if you want your elders to live out they final years with any form of dignity. Too bad I had to rate it is 1, wish I could give a negative rating, and it would be a big number, trust me.

Poor living and sanitary conditions at Amber court westbury

Poor sanitary conditions in dinning area. Dirty carpeting through out the dinning area. Dirty table cloths on the tables . Poorly maintained living quarters. Injuries to residents go unreported. Theft of clothing. We had to replace numerous items of clothing that were stolen or gone missing. We were told by a staff member not to leave her clothing at Amber Court. No one in the facility wants to take responsibility for anything. My mother in-laws suffer a broken foot that we discovered on a visit. We notified the supervisor about the injury. She said she did not know what had happen to my mother in-law. Someone tried to cover the injury by putting her shoe and sock over the foot. My mother in-laws foot was swollen and completely black and blue. It appeared to be an injury that was at least a couple of days old. No one knew or took responsibility for the injury or about reporting it. We found urine soaked diapers in her draws alongside clean clothing. All of our complaints seem to fall on deaf ears. I would not recommend this facility to anyone who cares about their loved ones.

Amber Court Assisted Living and Home Care

The decision to place my mother in an assisted living facility was difficult. It was made easier by the staff at Amber Court. I know that my mother has help 24 hours a day. Daily activities keep her engaged. The meals are delicious and remind me of the foods she cooked. The facilities and serves are excellent, but what really impresses me is the staff. Most importantly, she is safe. I know that she has immediate help if she falls or needs help. She has a sense of independence, but with gentle and supportive supervision. I will happily recommend Amber Court Assisted Living to anyone who asks me.

Perfect staff

I just met with the staff here. They are very professional and passionate about their jobs. I will definitely recommend this place.

Do your own research! Just observe....and taste the food if they allow you to!

I took care of a relative that lived there for 4 years. If I was not actively involved, my relative would have been neglected. When she ordered food to be delivered, it was left at the front desk for an hour or more. Food provided in the dining room is limited in choice and does not taste good. (In contrast, the Bristal Assisted Living home is amazing and will provide visitors with samples to prove it.) As for Amber Court's cleanliness? Carpets in the room are not cleaned if spills occur. Counters in rooms are not cleaned either. Couches & seats often have urine on them... as do the residents. The activity room is run well despite the limited resources the management chooses to provide for entertainment. Laundry is not completed in a timely fashion and items are frequently lost despite having to write the resident's name on each item. The case workers do not get involved unless needed and beware of leaving anything valuable in this facility. Once a custodian took a large 'tip' from my relative for doing his job. The administration charges you for more services/care than are provided.

It is a sad place.....

It reeks of urine, the bathrooms are shared and filthy. The rooms are dirty, never dusted or cleaned. Patients have other peoples clothes in their drawers and cabinets. A poor excuse for a "recreation room". When you ask a question they say "I don't know" , no one seems to know anything. My mother was sent to the hospital and when I asked, "I don't know, I just came on at 3'oclock" was the answer. It's just a sad sad excuse for senior housing. Keep looking...

Not somewhere I'd choose for my loved one

I toured this community when I was looking into care options for my loved one. Overall I just wasn't impressed by what I saw here. It seemed crowded, and I did not like that there were shared bathrooms. I understand that they accept medicaid, and it is good that options like this are available for those in need, but it isn't somewhere I'd pick for a loved one if I had a choice.

It is crowded but ...it accepts medicad

My mother lived there for nearly two months . It was not the place for her. Her dementia was becoming too bad. She was found lost wandering around and confused by me a few times. Before you place your parent in any assisted living make sure they will be coherent enough to find their room, operate an elevator and can walk the distance needed.
This place is very crowded and confusing for someone with bad dementria. It is a bit worn and tired looking, they really need to replace the carpeting.
The staff I have mixed reviews on, most try. The activity people are very good and there are a few really nice people working there. The dining hall was a nice experience for my mother. They accept medicaid but beware they will most likely be placed in a small 3 person room. The main problem I had with the place was the overcrowding , I hate to think of a fire in this place and what would happen.
But reality is there is little choices for those who can't afford the private pay only places. So really depends on your parent , I think some adjusted pretty well to it and some living there do okay.

Not impressed

We looked at this place when we were looking into options for Mom, and we were not impressed at all. The overall quality was just low, especially for the price. It felt more like a warehouse than somewhere that people would live. I wouldn't have felt comfortable with my Mom staying here.

They had a lot happening

They had a lot more happening than others I had seen. Look at the programs of what they are offering during the day. This is very important. This community didn't offer the level of care we needed but was beautiful and a very nice community.
