Customer Reviews

Our family member is happy here.

Our family's experience so far has been positive at Walnut Ridge. We took our family member out of another place when we found him with unexplained bruises. We found the staff to be kind and helpful and understanding of the residents. They worked with us on the costs. When our family visits, they have yet to say no to a special request to make our visits more enjoyable. I smelled no cigarettes as one reviewer commented. There is an institutional odor, but that goes with the territory. The rooms are clean and the philosophy of keeping residents engaged seems to work. They seem to understand the progression of memory diseases and are patient with the residents. We found there are always many family visitors, so there is a sense that overall it is a caring community.

Horrible facility

This place is horrible! First off, then entire facility smells like cigarette smoke. 2nd, the staff are rude and the owner [Removed] will tell you anything you want to hear. My grandma was in this horrible place and had to be taken to the hospital in an ambulance due to the lack of physical cleanliness. I helped take care of my grandma for several years and I can honestly say I've never seen her in such bad shape. They didn't even bathe her regularly! That's the reason why my grandma got an infection and had to be taken to the hospital. The owner [Removed] is a[Removed] who knows nothing about patient care and will lie through her teeth to make it seem otherwise. She even made a big deal when a few of us came to eat dinner with my grandma trying to say we weren't allowed to do so. If you have a loved one in this place I hope you promptly remove them!

Terrible. Please don't place a loved one here!

I wouldn't use this place to board my horse. I can't shower fast enough once I leave.[removed] Just a bad environment. The staff is just as rude to patients. [removed] I couldn't get my aunt out of here fast enough. Seriously terrible management and it really shows in the direct care staff. Sad because it could be a nice place but the care is the worst I ever seen and I'm a social worker at the hospital and have been to a lot of places.

I think it's excellent. I am very happy with it.

I think it's excellent. I am very happy with it. The staff is really good. I don't have any complaints about food, or activities, or anything, they do a good job. I would say they were pretty competitive in price, and maybe even a little less than some.

A caring staff who are willing and available to support the family, as well as the residents.

I contacted A Place for Mom (APM) in a panic. My mother with dementia became violent and had been "kicked out" of a facility, 3 days after moving her in. She was admitted to a psych facility for evaluation. APM, within minutes, put me in touch with an advisor, Joe, who was a godsend. After some questions, he suggested several facilities. Walnut Ridge Memory Care had availability, as did others that we toured. The managing nurse was knowledgeable, gave us guidance and information about the procedure for psych evaluations and next steps, and she was a caring person. What we learned of the owners' approach to the facility's management was very encouraging, as well. Walnut Ridge is memory care only--exactly what was needed. And cost 20% less than the first facility who tossed her out. One week later, Walnut Ridge sent her back to a psych ward for medicine balancing because she became irritated again. Unlike the first place, they were helpful, keep up to date on her progress, and will take her back when she is released. They talk with me every day and respond to my million questions quickly. Place is attractive, has basic amenities (hair salon services, etc.), medical care, and they take care of ADLs.

Memory Care? I think not.

Just awful. If I could give zero stars, I would. This place is a circus. Do your family a favor, and keep your loved ones OUT of this place. Ridiculous.
