Building repairs needed for 1 year. Water goes off 3 times in 4 months. Poor investigation of inappropriate behavior of male staff toward female residents. Until several ladies came forward. Staff was dismissed. On their 3rd chef. However, they catered food until new Chef arrived. Most of staff make great effort. However, management is slow to support changes.

Current Resident

November 1st will mark my one year move-in anniversary.
I have enjoyed living here from the very beginning. The residents and staff are wonderful and it feels like a large, extended family. We have fun together and watch out for one another. I am thankful for my home.

My family and I liked the Village at Woodlands Waterway very much. When the time comes to begin my move I will put my name into their list for a suitable apartment.
Thank you for your help.

Very nice, modern facility with independent living and assisted living apartments. Only downside is my Mom doesn't care for elevators, and all apartments are on upper floors. The elevators are large, well lit, and fast though. May not be an issue.

This is a beautiful facility with the benefit of 3 levels of care. This would definitely be an option if it was closer to where I live.

Food is fine

Ever since I helped my mother move in, we only dealt with one major issue. As I was helping my mother with her belongings into her room the AC was not working, it kept cutting off. We called the maintenance man and he came to “fix” it, but it kept turning off. He was in and out of the room multiple times to “fix” it. After the last time, we went out and my mother returned to her room and she was getting ready for bed. I called her up to make sure everything was fine, but she told me that the AC wasn’t working again. I had to call around 10:00pm at night to let someone know about the situation. Finally, the assistant director got a hold of me and said that someone will be there in the morning to fix it. I told him it shouldn’t be the regular maintenance people because they obviously do not know what they are doing. You have to get a professional outside the business. That’s what they did and the professional informed me that there was an issue with the piping which was affecting the AC to turn off. Considering that it was my mother’s first night there, it was really aggravating to deal with this. However, after this incident everything was fine. The staff seemed to be very friendly and knowledgeable. They are there for you when you need to ask them something and they seem to know everything. The other residents there are very welcoming which is a big thing. They are so warm and friendly and my mother likes that part of it. The food that they serve is average, not fantastic but it’s ok. My mother is a vegetarian and they don’t seem to cater well to that special dietary need. They do have vegetables and veggie burgers, but sometimes they have meat included in there. If you have issues that are similar to this, I wouldn’t recommend this location. They have a lot of activities as well. They keep everyone updated with printing out a calendar event sheet in their mailboxes along with the menu for their meals.

Common areas were small. I did not observe residents being social.

Assisted living has many issues, complaints on Yelp.

Very Nice community

This community is very nice, they offer a lot of amenities for their residents to take part in, they have a nice game and TV room. There's a beautiful view of the waterways from many of the apt windows and the apt's are very nice. The staff is friendly, they keep me well informed about my mother's progress. As for my mother's transition, she has been a bit difficult. My mother does have a private caregiver and they are encouraging her to be a part of the activities and to go down to dinner with the other residents. I would definitely recommed taking a tour here.

We Needed 3 Meals

We needed 3 meals a day, a huge bedroom for a king size bed, and at a reasonable price. We had a good tour and everybody we met was nice. They were professional and they were able to give me answers I needed. When I was shown around the community the bedroom was not large enough. Their meal plan is one meal with breakfast. They were not fitting for our needs.

No complaints!

I have no complaints so far, everything is going quite well! The staff are very friendly and the facility looks clean and inviting. My loved one also gets plenty of opportunities to participate in activities with other residents!

A tour for mom

This was a nice tour for the care needed for my mom's care. The community was clean and the staff was friendly and able to answer the questions on the care that is available. The menu appeared to have a nice variety of healthy meals. We the list of activities. We would recommend that families tour this community for the care of a loved one.

very nice. might take a second look, but not now.

Tour for care

We toured this community for my father's care. We liked the staff who were able to answer the questions that we had on the care that is offered. We like the cleanliness of the environment. They had a nice menu of meals and they do offer activities for the residents to participate. The community should be considered for families to tour for the care and the value that is available.

A positive experience!!

We are happy with our choice of Village at Woodlands Waterway. My father is doing very well. The staff, in general, is great. They have good meal options and the facility is always very clean.

Nice Assisted Living Community

We had a nice tour of this community, everything went well. The staff we met was kind, and friendly. They were informative, and answered our questions. It was a nice experience overall, but I felt my mother needed more care than they were able to provide.

Don't judge a book by its cover!

Don't let the pretty interior and nice location make you think the assisted living or memory care caregiving providers and food will be as good. Caregivers in the AL and Memory Care are poorly trained and spend more time visiting with each other than the residents. Uncertified personnel distributed meds in Memory Care. According to the nurse who only works 9-5, this facility is not licensed to have a defibrillator.

Unless you don't really need any personal assistance with bathing or transfers and can distribute your own medicine; and, if you can tolerate the inconsistency of the quality of meals served, this is not a good choice. Oh, and many residents went months without hot water. Hopefully, this problem has been corrected.

Very Nice Community, Pleased with My Move Here

So far everything is working out pretty well for me since my move to this community. I'am comfortable, and happy with my move here. The community looks great, everything is extremely clean. All of the staff is very nice. They have activities offered for the residents. The meals are pretty good, its what you could expect when feeding that many people. It is a very nice community, and I would recommend it. All is well so far.

Beautiful Community but needs improvements!!

My first impression of this community was really good, everything was really beautiful. They offer valet parking and the building inside and out looked very high end as well as a beautiful view of the water. Once I got to the residence I started to have concerns. They where at a very low capacity and I saw no interaction with the staff going on anywhere. I also witnessed a few staff members just standing around talking and texting.

The actual facility seemed nice, although I get the feeling that the Assisted Living residents and the Independent Living residents are treated differently. They don't even eat the same food. I did not get a happy, warm feeling from the staff or the residents. I felt rushed on the tour, which seemed suspicious. Saw a lot of staff "goofing off." And I read bad reviews about the food, the turnover in staff, and trouble with maintenance. While we were there, a resident's daughter was complaining that her mother's smoke alarm had been beeping for days.

Comfort for my parents!!

My parents are doing fine since their move to this community. I just saw them this week and they were happy. The community seems to have a lot of activities that my parents can get involved in and make new friends. The building is going through changes, and we have had a couple of issues but they are always quick to take care of them. They have a new chef is starting soon, so we are all hoping the food will improve soon. Overall, this place has been great.

My loved one is enjoying living at The Village at Woodlands Waterway because it has a positive atmosphere. Her favorite thing about the community are the drivers that take her to run her errands, they are always happy to drive her around. The place is clean and fairly new but has had some maintenance issues. The pool has not been working for a while. The meals could use some improvement as well, the menu they provide is very limited.

I love it here!!!

I have decided to make this my home! Love it here. It has everything anyone could want on site... and much more available nearby. Staff is helpful and caring, food is great and the entire place is clean and comfortable with many many activities.

It Is Going Well

My mother-in-law is doing well at this community. She complains that her room is small but she likes to stay near the activities room. She likes to stay in activities room and she enjoys it. The food is good. The staff are helping my mother-in-law get ready and give her medications. She has not complained about the help from the staff. I would recommend the community if needed.

Kept neat and clean !!

My loved one and I thought this place was kept very clean and spotless. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable on our tour. It felt too much like an institution rather than a comfortable senior living home .

Pleased with staff!!

Staff has been so good! They've gone out of their way to get my MIL settled on the memory care floor. [Removed] is so helpful. I can't say enough good things about everyone involved with this difficult transition. My MIL is adjusting well.

All Seems To Be Okay

My dad seems to be happy at this community but I feel that I am not getting the best communication from the staff. They use to call me weekly now they call me every other week. He does not seemed to in harms way but what they tell me does not sound like my father. Overall, I would like more feedback to feel confident about the care because I am in another state.

Pleasant experience

I stayed at the Village at Woodlands Waterway briefly, and I'd say it was a pleasant experience overall! The food was always on time, and generally very good, and for the most part the staff were friendly and helpful.

Good but needs additional staff

My experience has been that this facility is going through some changes and seems a little understaffed in the memory care unit. But they seem willing to take families input regarding changes.

Great place, great people!

After visiting several facilities, we decided on The Village at The Woodlands. We are very happy. The facility is very nice and the residents appear to be very happy as well. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and responsive.

My parents liked this facility very much and loved the corner apartment, however, the only two bathroom apartments were independent living apartments and the VA will only approve Assisted living, which are only one bedroom, one bathroom apartments.

Review of Village at Woodlands Waterway - The Woodlands, TX

The facility is very clean open and bright. It is a beautiful facility. We had lunch there and the food was exceptional. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. The residents that we met as we toured the facility were all very content and highly recommended the facility.

Review of Village at Woodlands Waterway - The Woodlands, TX

This is the place good size apartment and close to Market Street.

Penney showed me around. She is very friendly with the staff and residents. One of the more comfortable feeling places that I have seen. Very, very modern décor to fit the building was just a little too modern for me. Also, did have a problem with $100 per month parking but it is a covered garage so may be worth it to some. Would still be my second choice due to the great location and amenities.

SLC Texas

Local Representative

Thank you for taking time out of your day to compose this review. We agree that Penny is indeed wonderful and am glad to learn that you felt comfortable in our community. Our decor may be modern but our warmth and care is one of a kind! We hope to see you again soon.

Memory care is lacking.

My mom has been living in the memory care unit at the waterway for 15 months. Her care was very good when she first moved in but about 6 months in it took a nose dive. The level of care from the paid employees as well as the director, med tech and nurse on call is poor at best. You can walk in at any time of day or night and find employees grouped together and talking amongst themselves while residents are left unattended and uncared for. I had to hire a private care giver to come every morning and bathe her and help her get dressed after repeatedly asking the director to address her needs. As her incontinence has increased, I have come to her room to find her sitting in wet clothing and her room needing to be cleaned. To find her caregiver for help in attending her is also a chore. Recently the med tech called me at 6:00pm Friday evening to tell me she needed to see a doctor and even said they had noticed the problem that morning. I am moving her out ASAP. I'm sure it is a great place to live if you are looking for independent or assisted living, but the memory care unit care is abysmal.

We are pleased with the service

We are pleased with the service, it's well insulated and immaculate, and the people are very friendly. The food is very good that's where they are plus, plus. It's still very new for us, but other than, it could always be less expensive, we don't have any complaints.

Very nice looking place!

Very new, modern and sophisticated, definitely does not look like a senior living community. I would like to
live here myself. This gorgeous multilevel 8 story complex on the waterway is in a very popular area here in The Woodlands. And because it's a popular area the shopping complexes, including grocery stores are packed with limited parking available. Good thing there is a local trolley that stops by every hour for their residents. On site the visitor parking availability is zero due to lot line restrictions (they are working on other options) so they not only have problems with visitor parking but employee parking as well. The interior had extremely wide open hallways, high end lighting with windows at the end of each hall so it doesn't seem so closed in. The kitchens had higher ceilings and a more open floor plan than other communities I visited which included a washer/dryer in the room. Their social areas were big and the exterior balconies were spacious over looking the most beautiful views of local festivals and athletic competitions. Definitely a place to be for an active senior or even a not so active senior. They have a life alert style pendant and motion sensors for assisted living.

I liked it and the people were fine

We looked at a lot of different places. This was one of the ones we toured and considered. I liked all of the communities I visited, the people were all fine, and this was no exception. I just don't think this is the right fit for us, my loved ones don't want to leave their home.

They were excellent. I would highly recommend them.

As a team, we work hard each and every day to provide the best in-class service to both our current and prospective residents. We appreciate your recognition of our efforts and will continue to strive for excellence.

The location is not perfect, but clean. The majority off the staff is very friendly and helpful, but my Mom has had some bad experiences in assisted living and independent living. They didn't check very often on my Mom and she went 7 days without a bath.

When she was in independent living and her shower curtain broke. A cleaning lady came into her room and my Mom asked if she could replace the shower curtain. The cleaning lady simply refused and I was very surprised.

As of now I don't know if this is a long term solution for my Mom based on the experience she has had. I would rate this community a 3/5 because of the poor services and staff.

I have been very pleased.

I have been very pleased. The pricing has been very good as well. They do have a variety of activities. They had concerts there and they did outings. The food was the one area with some disappointment. The food would be cold sometimes, we did have it delivered to the room. The menus were wonderful, the variety was good. They don't have much in the way of guest parking, but there is a convenient loading area for picking up and dropping off.

It was definitely first class.

They did a good job. It was very clean, and the staff was friendly. This was a respite stay so it was one flat daily rate and there were no hidden costs or fees. The food was good, no complaints there. No complaints at all really, it was definitely first class.

A new place for Mom

The location is beautiful; my mom's apartment looks out over the Woodlands waterway. I am sure in time she will enjoy her daily sunset. Her one bedroom/one bath home is very livable. Her only complaint has been that not all of her stuff fits into the new place. (She had a two bedroom/2 bath apartment before this move; she is very possessive of her "things" and is reluctant to give anything away.) Her closet is much better than the one she had. The maintenance man added an extra closet rod to the closet before she moved in. He was very helpful in disposing of the empty boxes and paper. I have noticed that the residents seem very involved with the activities and can be seen during the day doing things; in other words, they are not just staying in their homes till dinner time. The twice a week art classes really interested my mom. Once she is settled, I am sure she will enjoy her new location.

We are very pleased with the facility.

We are very pleased with the facility. The food is the one issue, it was good initially but seems to have fallen off, the taste, as well as the food being cold and tough. The view from the rooms and the certified medical staffing, the closeness to activities, are some of the reasons we chose this community.
