Customer Reviews

My mom loves it!

Mom is eating better and getting stronger since moving into Rosewood Estates. She is going to exercise almost everyday, so she no longer needs her walking cane to walk. She has made many new friends and has fun cutting up with them and picking at each other! She dressed up for Halloween for probably the first time since she was a kid and she's 86! She had so much fun, she couldn't quit talking about it. It is not like a nursing home. This is independent living, but with others around to talk to and interact with. Personally, I am delighted she decided to move there. So is her doctor! I highly recommend it! Tell them [name removed] sent you!

Hi there! Thank you for sharing your mom's experience! It's great to hear she is thriving at Rosewood Estates. How she is living now, is how we want all older people to live. Have a great day!

Nice Community

We went on a tour here and my mom loved it. We were impressed with the place and the layout. There's lots of trees and a walking path for the residents. They have a lot of daily activities. The staff was nice and they answered all of our questions. They were good at following up with us. We had a deposit made but unfortunately mom changed her mind about moving just yet.

Rosewood Estates

I looked at Rosewood Estates while looking for a place for my husband and I, and I thought the apartments were just too small here for us. I was really looking for something more spacious, so we continued our search elsewhere.

HIGHLY recommend Rosewood Estates

I am a RN for 46 years and the last 17 years has been in Tyler TX . I work at an agency that has to interact with facilities all over the East Texas area. When it came time for my 86 year old mother to stay in a place that would meet her needs and be best suitable for her fixed income, it was quick response for me: Rosewood Estates. The facility is well groomed and landscaped beautifully. GREAT food. Mother was 78 pounds when we transferred her to my care, from Dallas area, and the other day she weighed in at 105 pounds. We have NEVER BEEN charged to eat with her. Her grandchildren and friends come and always a place for them or myself to eat. The staff is always looking in on her. The residents have bonded with my mom and makes sure she comes to meals; participates in activities, in church. Her room is cleaned well each week. Again I need to stress: I have seen many facilities but the best of them all is Rosewood Estates. They make sure dignity, respect and integrity of care is promoted. We are now going into our second year at Rosewood Estates. Mom will stay as long as she is able which I greatly appreciate. When she needs additional support the staff welcomes outside agencies i.e. mine and provides all the support to promote great health benefits. Thank you to the staff and friends at Rosewood Estates that is enhancing my mother's senior years to the fullest and finest.

Love Rosewood Estates

Mom has been at Rosewood Estates in Tyler for two months now and loves it. It was the perfect fit, the residents and staff have made her feel so welcome and it is very encouraging when everyone is happy with a smile on their face every time we are there. Mom is very independent and shy, after her stroke she withdrew as she could not speak very well, when I visit her now she is happy, has made new friends and is talking so much better. Our mom had to be taken to the hospital, while we were out of town. [Removed] took care of contacting us and assuring mom that everything was going to be OK, she also made arrangements with another resident to take care of moms dog till we could get there. My brother and I have a huge comfort in knowing that she is around others, and that they have a genuine interest in her health and well being. This is our first experience with independent and assisted living and I would highly recommend Rosewood Estates. They have all been such a blessing to mom and to us.

Cleanliness, and Meal Quality Needs Improvement

My mother is doing great since her move to this community. However there is room for improvement in areas around this community. One of our issues has been the cleanliness, they do not do a good job with the cleaning. The room cleaning is not very good and you must constantly complain. Also they need better quality in the meals they provide, and more of a variety to choose from. They are charging us for these services, so they do need to correct and improve. The staff is very friendly and helpful "most" of them. They have great activities and really encourage involvement. They were very helpful when moving in and went out of their way to help us. We wish they had an enclosed dog run and better security on the property. They are thinking of charging guests for meals and I think that is wrong as that discourages visitors from coming and my parents don't eat every meal we are paying for. The cleaning and help staff eat more meals than the visitors? And their meals are really not very good, but we want to spend time with our folks. They need to stay fairly competitive in price range as they do not have the best food, no fences, no private dog run, and cleaning services really need help. But the staff is great, the activities a great for my mom, and the location is convenient! Wish they had WIFI in the rooms.

Care and options

This is a nice community for someone who needs more care. We like the staff who answered the questions we had. My mom did not need the care that they offer and wanted something different. The menu is good and they do offer activities. We would recommend this community for the care of a loved one.

The food is on a scale of 1-10 only about a 5! ! My parents do not eat all their meals everyday and they now want to charge when we visit them if we eat a meal. This is not right, then give us a credit back when they don't eat all their meals ! Yet the staff eats for free everyday!

The cleaning which is included in the rent is terrible!
Many of the residents know and have said something to management but nothing has been done about it!

The dining wait staff is not always helpful or friendly.

The cleaning which is included in the rent is terrible!

The dining wait staff is not always helpful or friendly.

Not exactly what they told us and promised us prior to move in!

What they tell you prior to signing the lease is not what is exactly happening after the lease is signed. They changed things.

Also the cleaning services they promise are NOT good at all. All the residence know cleaning is terrible but they don't do anything about it. The management staff is not listening.

The food is not that good on a scale of 1-10 (10 being the best) the food is about a rating of a 5. The wait staff in the dining room some are friendly some have attitudes like they are doing you a favor and yet your are the paying customer! They do not offer to help or go out of their way at all.
They have elected now to charge visitors for a meal and the meals are not worth it, especially when the family members living there DO NOT eat all three meals everyday so why should they have to pay once in awhile for a visitor meal!
They talk a good game in the beginning when you are looking at places but the follow up on services need work.

Highly Recommended

We have had our mom at Rosewood Estates for about a month. She had a stoke two years ago that left her unable to talk. Mom has always been fiercely independent her whole life and after her stoke she lived alone but was very withdrawn. We can see a big change in her she is very happy, alert and trying to communicate. Mom looks forward to what activity will be next and has made friends with several of the residents. My brother and I were amazed at her change. Mom is still able to be independent in her apartment but can socialize with others. Rosewood staff are very caring and friendly, which makes me feel so good about her being there. The price was the best for all the amenities and services that Rosewood offers. We are very blessed to be a part of the Rosewood family!!!

A great community to call home.

This is an excellent community for a loved one. The staff is so very nice and friendly. The community is clean and they offer a good menu of meals. They offer activities and we are happy that she is now getting involved with. We would recommend this community for good care and value for other families.

Wonderful exercise classes available !!

I have really enjoyed my stay so far at this community, the staff have all done an excellent job at making sure I am comfortable and that my needs are being met. The meals are very tasty with healthy options and perfect sized proportions. I have really enjoyed the activities they offer throughout the day including the exercise class.

So Wondeful

My mom is doing absolutely wonderful in her new community. She is happy with the meals that are served there. The community is clean in public areas and my mom's room is well kept. The staff are attentive and courteous. I would recommend this community to family or friends.

Tender Loving Care!!

My friend has been enjoying the activities that are offered to her. The meals have been great. I would definitely recommend Rosewood Estates to family and friends. It's kept clean and organized. The staff has been wonderful communicating. I really like that the staff personal are really nice as well.

Everything is going great!

Rosewood Estates has been a great transition for dad. He has been doing very well. My dad has been very happy since moving to Rosewood Estates. We are pleased with community and the care that they are providing for dad.

My Tour Was OK

This community is very nice with nice people all around but it did not appeal to my mom. There are long hallways and the room that was available for my mom was too far. I felt that she would always have a problem walking down or up the hallway. I don't know what I would do without A Place For Mom's help!

Loved the feel of the community and the independent living. With the age in place program I think Mom will be very happy there. She seems to be very pleased with the arrangements.

A Home for Mom

When we toured the facility we were so pleased. Once we chose it and mom
Moved in things were great. She did very well and loved it. Staff changes a lot and that's hard for the elderly. Aside from that, the only other issue is the dining room. My mom hardly wants to go down to meals now, due to not having a set person to sit with or a set table. All the residents have certain seats and people they've always sat with and won't allow any other person to sit there. I think they should assign seats according to apt number. This way people branch out and everyone has a place to be. The way it is now, makes my mom feel insecure and upset to be asked to " not sit here or there". It's quite childish to be honest. Some of the elderly are a lot like small children. The staff should step up. This is after all "HOME".

This was a really nice place.

We had so many wonderful options to look at. This was a really nice place. I liked that they had three meals a day, and the rooms were all so lovely.

nice place, but can barely afford

Rosewood Estates is a very nice place. I am living there now and the people here are very friendly and helpful. For my particular circumstance I am on a very small tight limited fixed income and it can be a little difficult to make everything work financially.

They were pretty good

The Holiday in Tyler was pretty nice, and their meal service was quick, the residents didn't have to wait too long for their meals. They were pretty good, I would give them a four out of five.

Things are going great

Things are going great with Rosewood Estates, my loved one is so much happier here! It's a clean, well kept, nice looking place, and the staff have all been wonderful so far! The place was always well maintained.

Great Retirement Place

No institution will match a home with a loving wife and family. However, for a widower who no longer wishes to care for a large house, Rosewood Estates was the best substitute I could find. The apartments are roomy and well appointed and management makes every reasonable effort to accommodate the needs and wants of each perso n living here. The food overall is delicious and nourishing, well-balanced, and served at the table by caring waitstaff. Again, one should not expect food like one's wife of many years prepared; there are many people whose needs have to be considered in the planning and preparation of the food, and the chef, the sous-chef, and their crew do an excellent job. Activities are numerous and varied; one can participate in one, all, or none. The atmosphere is friendly and positive and the premises are maintained wonderfully well. It's the best substitution for a family home that I could find.

Very nice place!

Things are going great with Rosewood Estates, my loved one is so much happier here! It's a clean, well kept, nice looking place, and the staff have all been wonderful so far! The managers are super, and have really bent over backwards to help her settle in. They even offered to help her box up and move all her things!
The only real issue we've run into is that their transportation vehicle does not accommodate wheelchairs or scooters, so we are having to look into other transportation options.

It's going really well!

It's going really well! The kitchen staff is very caring, and about 90% of the meals are really, really good. They have pretty good variety, too. They use fresh ingredients. They were such a good price, we couldn't pass them up. There is a supervisor on call 24/7, They have an ambassador for the first 30 days to come and get you involved. They have some sort of credit system too, where you get credit for coming to activities. They have lots of different activities. It's a good fit and it's reasonably priced. The residents are allowed to have pets, it's pretty big, they don't mind if you put up a bird feeder outside. They are willing to accommodate people to help make them feel more at home. My only complaint is that there are a lot of trees in the parking lot and you get a lot of debris on the car, if they took them down they would lose the nice view though.

Cost is $2,500-$2,800 for a one bedroom, seems a bit high. The Apts. have only kitchenettes and no internet service. Meals are served after everyone arrives. Our wait was over 1/2 hour.

She likes it so far. Everything has been good.

She likes it so far. Everything has been good. We haven't had any complaints and neither has she. The facility is nice, and she likes the food.

Well Maintained, Helpful Staff, Some Issues with VA Funds

My brother-in-law was there. He had people that the ate with and men that he became friends with there. One thing that I didn't like with the Rosewood was that they led us to believe that he would be getting VA money long before he did. I waited the 90 days and then I started checking up and the organization that they had recommended had gone out of business so we had to start all over. It was 18 months before we got funds. I wish they would be more upfront and realistic about that because if they had we might have spent his funds differently and looked into other options like medicaid. They raised thier price too which I didn't like. I know they have to but I didn't like hearing that in a letter from corporate.

My brother-in-law liked it there. He was so much better that at home. The place was always well maintained. Everytime we were there it was clean and the people were helpful, particularly for us being so far away.
