Customer Reviews

One of the nicest facilities i have seen since i started searching for a home for my grandmother. The staff and administration are so professional and nice that it really feels like everyone is family. I look forward to call Palmcrest the new home for my grandmother.

THE CARE AT PALMCREST GRAND

This facility is the worst place to put any person that you care about. MY BROTHER WAS HERE FOR 3 MONTHS.
The staff was uncaring, unorganized,overworked.
The residence receive poor care, poor sup, dehydration, falls and much more.
I could not believe the things that my poor brother experienced. Please do not place your love ones at this facility. you will regret it as i do.

A community for good care

We did like the care that we had for a short time. The staff was very kind and helpful to his needs. We liked that he did like the activities that they offered. This community did not have a large area for him to be able to walk through the community, We would recommend this community for the care of a loved one.

Very Poor Communication!!

This community has some very sweet and caring caregivers. The ratio of residents for caregivers is high it seems they should hire more caregivers. They have a lovely beauty salon for the residents. The food is good and the community is well cleaned. I really hope they can change the administrator she seems she is not qualified for her position. The administrator never answers calls or returns messages. There is a lack of communication between the administrator and staff towards the families.

Very Happy with Palmcrest Grand

We helped our friend find Palmcrest Grand. They gave us a full tour of the whole facility, including both dining rooms, kitchen, game rooms, reception area, medicine distribution, laundry, TV rooms & movie theater. They had a semi-private room that fit his budget. He was able to bring some of his own furniture and he has his own closet. He has been there about a month and feels very comfortable and happy with his room, the staff and the activities that he has participated in.

EMPLOYEE CONFIDENCE AT PALMCREST

The care at Palm Crest is magnificent. The administrators and assistants are friendly and professional as they walk you through procedures and facilities. We were initially referred to Palm Crest by A PLACE FOR MOM, of which we took full advantage and through the several referrals we all loved this one. They are clean, the workers are always present and the staff take excellent care of mom. The assistant is always ready and willing to help with any situation, she makes sure that mom attends her exercise classes and gets her meals on time, etc. Mom is happy and enjoys her stay at PalmCrest.

There have been some issues. They are very disorganized.

There have been some issues. They are very disorganized. The administrator, it seems, is always busy with lawsuits, her assistant is very unpleasant. There are small maintenance requests that have not been taken care of in the couple of months since we have been there. The food has been not good, and is getting worse. It's not what it represented itself to be. They recently changed hands, and I don't think it's been a very smooth transition, but now it seems money is the main focus.

The staff is wonderful to work with.

The staff is wonderful to work with. They were the best feature of this community. There is a little bit of a problem with the parking. We didn’t really have much of an issue with the laundry service as my mother was only there for a short time.

Friend is doing well here

I assisted a friend during his search for a senior community and Palmcrest Grand is the one he settled on. From everything I have heard they seem to be doing a great job here, and he is in a much better place overall!

A lot of there workers don't even speak English. The food is low grade cafeteria food. No good excercise program. If you have a tight budget then this place is for you. For 1500 more you can have a nicer place and way better food.

Palmcrest Grand in Long Beach - Recommended!

I can't imagine any better living arrangement for my 92-year-old Aunt Shirl. I have been her sole care-giver for the past year since my wife passed away, but a recent change in my employment requiring extensive time away from home has precluded that. The people at "A Place For Mom" and the folks at Palmcrest have been super and understood our needs immediately. Esther is very understanding and helpful. Aunt Shirl seems to be enjoying her new home and says the meals are excellent. There are plenty of activities if she is so inclined, or not. I found the facility immaculate and spotless, the staff friendly and helpful. My only complaint would be the parking, and considering the location, surrounding area, and lack of vacant space I do not see an easy solution to that.

I certainly would consider Palmcrest for myself when the time comes to retire.

from confusion to health and safety

I came from a place of confusion, coming from San Pedro, a bustling Art Community where I had to care for myself. I needed support, orientation, health and safety. With the help of Palmcrest Grand and their support, and medication management they provide for me, I get to rest, and learn new things, and reorient myself to a complete sense of rehabilitation.

Best Place on Earth

I love living at this facility, I have been here for over 2 years and never have I felt so happy. The staff here are great and i feel like they are my own children I would not want to be any where other than palmcrest grand.

My loved one's feedback has been nothing but positive. Overall, the staff has been very good for her! She is very happy with the caregivers. They've been consistence, which is good! She hasn't always been happy about the food at lunch, but she's a picky eater. She does love the breakfast! Also, if she's not feeling well, the staff will bring the food up to her room, which is very nice.

Great Experience

I placed my aunt at Palmcrest Grand Residence. From the moment I walked in, I noticed how clean and pleasant it is.

I walked in without an appointment to get a tour. Admission coordinator - Esther Hasenfeld came out with a big smile and gave me a tour.

She explained all the services that would enhance my aunt's care. What made my decision final, was how efficient and smooth the transition went for my aunt being that this is her first time away from home, after losing her husband.

I come to visit all the time and the staff and administration always greet me and give me continuous updates of my aunt.

I totally recommend this community. You will be as satisfied as I am.

I'm Grateful!

I would like to express my gratitude for the care my mother has received at Palmcrest Grand. The professionalism exhibited by the coordinator, activity director, and care takers are first class. I could not be more pleased to have my mother at this location. I visited numerous other locations and Palmcrest Grand is by far head and shoulders above the rest. Finding a facility to take care of a loved one is a trying time, and to find one that will give the care needed, is very comforting, especially when that person is left on their own for the first time. I again say this location is a place where you can relax and know great care is being provided. I would like to say on a personal note that the time my mom has been at this location I have met more of the nicest people here than in many prior years, and restored my faith that there are great people out there. Thanks again Pamcrest.

This would be the place for mom, when I walked in, I could feel the vibrant folks all around me. The facility was clean and equipped with CCTV throughout the hallways. There were also living room type settings throughout the facility to rest and watch TV. The rooms are a adequate size from what I could see. All the resident were interactive with the staff and each other. There is a diverse culture here that is important because that's the communities that my family lives. My mother would fit in nice at this facility and I look forward to returning to take a tour with her.

that one was kind of scary, I wouldn't go there. A lot of the people there were in wheelchairs and not really in the now. The rooms were really small and it looked like it was a converted hospital; really dark and dank and very large, long hallways. My mom needed more interaction with people and more things to do. It was more like 'park it and forget it' type of people. The lady was really nice, but the kind of atmosphere, I wasn't cool on.

So far so good, mom has been there 7wks. Everyone is really kind, she hopefully will get it, as far as living there? I wish she would get more involved in the crafts, not sure if the staff gets her or leave it up the the residents ? Linda is great and she brings her dog to work sometimes.

Roommate Situation

My brother has been having some problems with them lately. I was very enthused initially. The issue is he was in a double and his roommate stays up all night so he can't sleep and yet they wouldn't do anything about it. One night his roommate clogged the toilet let it run all night so their place got flooded. Then they put him in a smaller room which he thought was a single and then they moved that same roommate in with him. Finally they moved that guy back in the first room which they told my brother he couldn't move back into because they rented it out, but they let the other guy move back there.

He was doing well in the beginning but it doesn't' seem like anyone is really taking this issue seriously. It's a real terrible thing not to get any sleep. We were really so happy in the beginning. it's such a beautiful place and they have a lot of activities but when they have complaints it doesn't seem like they get taken care of.

They do a lot of good social activities and they get a couple of vouchers a month to go shopping or to the doctor. The place is really nice inside. He's had a lot of good social interaction with the people that live there, just no his roommate.

It's not that I wouldn't' recommend this place for someone, it's just that this current situation is difficult. Hopefully it gets cleared up.

Fine if you cant afford better

They took care of my grandmother... caregivers are nice, unskilled but nice. Management sucks. I came to visit 2-3x a week for a year. In that time... we had problems with mice constantly, roaches, cricket infestations and spiders. We reported repeatedly with nothing being done. And its funny how "everyone" gets the stomach flu at the same time... youd understand why if you went into their kitchen. Serving curdled milk? Nasty salad bar? Meat that smells spoiled. Uugh... we're going back to Sunrise.

Beautiful Place

It was wonderful but it was out of the price range for my grandmother. Everything was nice and clean. It was a beautiful facility. Everybody was very friendly and got back with us right away about our inquiry.

The manager was not available that day and knew I was coming. They had one of the housekeeper show me around. I was not impress w/the rooms or the staff.

Good for my husband

My husband complains about the food but I'm not sure how realiable he is so you have to temper that. I can tell you that they're big on sauces instead of serving them on the side. They give him his meds and they bathe him. The place is good for him. He need to be somewhere where there is assistance.

Loved the place, the Director was great. She answered all my questions and they have a lot of activities that my mother would enjoy. The Palmcrest Grand reminds me a lot of the place we had her in for 3 years before it got to expensive. They have a lot of the same activities. They also have a Adult Day Care center there which I am really interested in. She can start going to the day care center a few day week to see how she likes it and we can take it from there.

I toured this facility imprompto. The Director was very knowledgable and easy to talk to. This facility was very clean and the residents seemed to be happy there. The staff also seemed to be very content and anxious to accomodate visitors. She followed up the next day as promised and offered other suggestions after it was determined that I wouldn't be able to afford their facility as well.
