Customer Reviews

I am very impressed with the service that [Name removed] and her husband give to those that they care for. Miramar home care is an example of how our loved ones should be cared for. They are very attentive and loving to those they serve.I highly recommend them.

Compassionate home

I am a NURSE case manager. I care for several residents at Miramar. Not only are the caregivers/owners very knowledgeable, they whole heartedly care for their residents and treat each one like family. They advocate for what is needed for each resident & is very informative and interactive with the residents loved ones. They are diligent profeaaionals and take pride in their operation of daily responsibilities. I would definately entrust my loved one to the home of [Name removed] & [Name removed].

Loving Home away from home. 🏡

I am now showing my client this site because I want to share how kindhearted and caring and loving Miramar Home Care is. My mom is there right now...home away from home. She loves it..we love them. We never! Want to move mom and she never wants to move. We feel extremely blessed to have found Miramar Home Care,[name removed],[name removed] and others. I can not say enough about the constant care and more my mom is receiving. We are very grateful.

Such a wonderful place

My Great Uncle that I considered my Grandpa received the best care here. He was discharged from the hospital on hospice for a severely infected bedsore that went to his spine (he received at another facility.) While here his received wound care twice a day. This wound actually started to look better. His pain level and anxiety level was always under control. And it is wasn’t just through medication. They sat and talked and prayed with him. Being in this type of environment meant he had more 1:1 time. He was one of 3 patients as opposed to one of 300+. The care that was provided him at Miramar was top notch. His bed was always clean. He was always clean. He had new clothes on everyday. They took care to shave him every day. They noticed that chewing food was tiring him out so they would purée his food and he was able to keep up his intake right up to the very end. I was always updated on how things were going. I just can’t say enough good things about this place. They took better care of him than I would have been able to do at my home.

I feel very fortunate to have found Miramar Home Care

I am very pleased with the care my mother is receiving at Miramar Home Care. I had a very calm feeling when I first walked in this home. It is extremely clean and very nice. The owners are great to work with and the caregivers are so nice. They care for the patients like family. They shower my mother daily, feed her, look after her health and talk kindly to her. Thankful I found Miramar Home Care.

Best Care My Dad Could Receive

My husband & I visited several care facilities before choosing Miramar for my dad. Although we believed he would have been adequately cared for at the other places, there was really no question in our minds that Miramar was the best choice. The facility is designed specifically for those with disabilities (wide hallways, wheel-in bathrooms & showers, etc.). The owners are careful to comply with all state rules and regulations. Their cleanliness is impeccable. We feel my dad is getting the best and safest care possible at Miramar during the last days of his life. As a former RN, I worked in home health and saw many care facilities, and have never seen one with the high standards that Miramar has, and with their high level of dedication and careful attention to providing top-notch patient care. Miramar may cost a little more than other places you could send your loved one to, but in our opinion, it is totally worth it for the quality of care my dad receives.

Smaller Home

This was a nice place, however, I didn't feel it would have been the right choice for my mom. It was a much smaller property than any of the other ones we had visited. The staff we met was friendly and kind. It was very clean and good looking.

Friendly Tour

I had a good tour of this care home. They have a very friendly staff, everyone was very kind. The staff was polite, and my questions were answered. They showed my all around the home, and everything looked nice. I was happy with my experience.

Loved the cozy home environment. The only thing was they didn't have activities for the residents. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.

I am sorry you were not informed of all the activities we offer. Most of our activity supplies are showcased in the living room for our Families and Residents to have access to. We also provide music and pet therapy.

By Far The Best Place For Your Loved One

Everything about Miramar Home Care is exceptional. They provided excellent care and caring for my parents. They are kind, knowledgeable, efficient, trustworthy, and compassionate. The home is beautiful, warm, inviting, organized, and clean beyond compare! I would HIGHLY recommend Miramar Home Care to anyone looking for a place for their loved one. You will not find any place better than Miramar Home Care.

The best place out there for your parents to be cared for.

Excellent care!!! They not only provide great care for my parents, they also provide invaluable support and help to me. They take care of so many details to help me through this process.

We chose Miramar Home Care

We chose Miramar Home Care. It was by far the nicest, cleanest, most organized home we visited. The caregivers are all fantastic.

A True Blessing

Finding Miramar was a true blessing. Our father wasn't there for very long before he passed. He was well cared for and treated with dignity. The caretakers are kind and caring. They do everything possible to meet the needs of the residents. They are cared for like a family member. The home is immaculate and residents are always clean. Our father had been in several places and complained daily. At Miramar he was happy. We were able the relax when we left knowing he was being cared for. I highly recommend Miramar.

Wonderful Agency

Our experience with this home care agency has been wonderful they have really done a great job. The staff that came in as been helpful to mother and her and her needs. They followed my instructions regarding my mother and was very attentive to her. The owner of the agency were very caring and and worked very hard.

Family atmosphere

This is a small facility with a small community of residents. It is very cozy and has a family atmosphere. The staff here is amazing. You can tell that they care about all of the people here as if they are family.

We were very pleased with them.

We were very pleased with them. We didn't have any complaints at all. The billing was easy, the insurance not so much, but the billing was fine. My loved one wasn't here long, but they did a good job when we were there.

Miramar Home Care, Inc. Epitomizes What Eldercare is All About ... Tender Loving Care!

Laura and Reuben Dorca, owners, and their staff are so caring and considerate! My family and I are so thankful to God to leading us to Miramar Home Care, Inc. My precious Mom's personal and healthcare needs are being met beyond our expectations. I have been in charge of Mom's care for over 11 years, and I have seen and experienced just about everything. I have had to advocate for Mom countless times. At Miramar, there's no need ... their word is their bond!! It is a blessing beyond measure to finally have our family's prayers answered. In just two weeks, we have seen Mom "come back to life." She is significantly more responsive, her color is much improved, and the brightness in her beautiful eyes has returned. I've been told many times over by the staff how much they love my Mom; that is music to my ears. I see it on every visit -- not only for my Mom, but also for the other residents, as well. Most importantly, Mom feels at home. She loves her beautiful room ... and so do I!! From her window, she can look out over a beautiful landscaped front yard, which she loves to do. The Miramar family is now part of our extended family ... we are so grateful!!!

surprised they are open

I wouldn't recommend Mirimar to anyone looking for a loving environment for their family member. Im surprised they are in this business at all, as it seems to only be a business, and not about caring for people. I do not recommend you try Mirimar, its hard enough to make this decision.

A great home for Mom

Our Mom fell and fractured her hip and after a hospital stay and two weeks in rehab we had to find the best place for her care. She could not walk and needed total assistance, dementia had progressed along with pulmonary fibrosis. As soon as we looked at Miramar Home Care we knew this was the best place for her care. Ruben and Laura and all the staff care for her with knowledge , understanding and attention to her needs. They helped us set up hospice care for her. The home is always spotless, well organized ,and the residents are clean, happy and well cared for. Mom has to be fed meals and they take time to feed her. We are so thankful to have found Miramar and feel they are outstanding in their care. Mom is content and says she is spoiled. We would recommend Miramar to anyone who needs care for a loved one.

Review of Miramar Home Care

Our mother had a very disabling stoke this year, and we needed to find the best place for her care. We discovered Miramare Home Care, and knew the instant that we walked through their door that it would be the place for her. The overall atmosphere was calm, soothing and organized. It's small and intimate, So clean and pretty. Everyone that cares for my mom is professional, caring and so understanding and respectful of her. She is always clean, happy and content everytime we visit. It was a blessing the day we walked into Miramar that we are thankful for every day. I would recommend Miramar Home Care to anyone who asked me for a referral!

A+ to them.

A+ to them. For the time we had them they were very good. We didn't really have any issues with them. Everybody liked my loved one. The caregivers that were there were very hands on, and one on one with his care, pretty much 24-7. I don't have any complaints whatsoever, I would recommend them to anyone. They do an outstanding job.

My Mom had Parkinson's Alzheimer's. In the beginning of her stay at Miramar, she wandered, was restless, hallucinated and had early stages of incontinence. Ruben and Laura took Mom in and immediately kept me informed of her daily life. In the 3 plus years Mom was there, she was cared for as if she was a member of their family. The house was kept amazingly clean always. Some of the other residence that stayed with Ruben and Laura were also incontinent, however; never once was their any odor in the house. Home cooked meals were prepared for her and they gave medications as directed.
Mom's hallucinations became worse and were quit frightening to her. She need antipsychotic medication to calm her fears. Trying to find the correct dosages was such a challenge as she reacted differently to each medication. Laura and Ruben comforted her in these times of stress, while at the same time continuously keeping me informed so we could have the doctor adjust her medications.
Mom fell and broke her pelvic bone. We think it could be that her pelvic bone broke and she then fell. The hospital signed her into a rehab center which was horrible. No one watched or cleaned her. They simply put her in a bed in her room, where she'd forget she couldn't walk, and was afraid. Upon our insistence, they released her to Miramar, where Laura and Ruben were so very happy to have her back and in their care. Mom was taken such very good care of by them and she immediately started showing signs of improvement they patiently worked teaching her to walk again.
There is NO place I would recommend other than Miramar. When Mom wouldn't eat they would feed her sometimes taking up to an hour to feed her each meal. The love & care they gave my Mom was more than anyone could have asked for. I will always have a special tender place in my heart for Laura and Ruben.

We hit Gold!

My sister and I needed a place for my father who was suffering from dementia quickly. He lived in Dallas and I had just moved to Canyon Lake, TX (45 miles from Converse, TX). We found Miramar Home Care of Converse, TX through A Place for Mom, and we struck gold! Miramar Home Care is truly home care in a loving home with two twenty-four hour care by Laura and Ruben Dorca. The first thing we noticed on the first inspection was the fresh smell of the house and the immaculately cleanliness. The house was nicely furnished and completely handicapped accessible. Also there was a security system connected to the front & back door. The Dorca's were professional about there business, but also compassionate to my father's needs. We were very glad we decided to move my father to Miramar Home Care. They were able to take care of my father with grace and dignity from feeding, giving of medication, bowl & urinary issues, bathing, and other issue needed to take care of a quickly declining dementia patient. My father never had a bed sore. We came to know the Dorca's & their family and feel privileged to call them friends. When my father passed, even though I was not there, I take solace in knowing he was not alone.

What an amazing place for mom to stay...

What an amazing place for mom to stay and be cared for. About a year ago, my mother in law was diagnosed with leukemia and pneumonia and was under hospice care at Miramar Home Care in Converse Texas. Rueben and Laura were so sweet and wonderful to mom. They fed her, bathed her, stayed up with her at night if she needed help or support. We brought Boost and other favorite drinks/foods for mom and they made sure that mom got what we asked them to give her. Her meds were always on time and they worked with the hospice nurses very closely to make sure that mom was comfortable until her passing to be with the Lord. Rueben and Laura are wonderful Christian caregivers and I would recommend them to anyone who would like a caring personal touch in the care of their loved one. They are highly recommended!!!! They always had time to talk to us about mom's progress good or bad. We noticed also that the others they cared for always were clean and well fed and taken care of. Thank you Laura, Rueben, and all who worked to make this the best place for mom and for your loving, caring attitude to everyone you cared for at Miramar.

I felt compelled to put my review onl...

I felt compelled to put my review online for Miramar and Silver Stone. At the end of 2008 my world changed when my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and Dementia. My Dad had been her sole caregiver until he could no longer do it due to his declining health. Being a caregiver is the hardest job on earth. I had to step in because they needed me. I was faced with the challenge of finding care for the 2 most important people in my life. I was not prepared for this emotionally or mentally. I started out with Assisted living and Nursing homes. I was appalled by what I saw in these places. I prayed for guidance from the Lord above. My Dad's one stipulation was that he wanted to be close enough to be able to visit Mother every day. My prayers were answered when I found Miramar and Silver Stone right across the street from each other. Vicky and John took care of Mother at Silver Stone and Ruben and Laura took care of Dad until he passed away Feb. 2013. Mother is still living at Silver Stone and in excellent health. I still believe it was Devine intervention that lead me to finding these wonderful caregivers. It broke my heart to see the lack of care in the rest homes and assisted living facilities. I wanted someone to care for my parents with the love and devotion that I would give them myself if I were able to do so. My Mother and Dad were welcomed into these private homes and made to feel like they were part of their families. I no longer had to worry about the care my parents were getting. I visit 3 times a week. They had the closest thing possible to having a real "Home" again. They had privacy, no strangers wandering into their rooms to run off with their personal belongs. They still maintained their dignity. My Dad was a retired Army Lt. Col. and a very proud man. I can't say enough good things about these fine people. It takes very special people that have compassion and genuine concern for others loved ones to be able to provide this type of care. I feel truly blessed to have found caregivers to provide this type of care for my parents who deserve no less than the very best. I would highly recommend these homes to anyone that requires this sort of care. They are loving and trust worthy caregivers. I only hope I will be so lucky when my time comes to find the same care. You won't find any place better for your loved ones to get the care they so deserve.

my father has always been a sweet, ki...

My father has always been described as a mild mannered, fun loving, goofy guy. He was living in an A level facility before arriving at Miramar for about 19 or so months, and never did we see for ourselves, nor hear from the staff anything that contradicted his personality his whole life, as a matter of fact, after his diagnosis, we were told it was magnified, and everyone loved him! Unfortunate for us, his level of care changed and, like most people with this disease, he needed more help, so we found a B level facility, the Miramar. I read through their testimonials, went for a tour, and was impressed. The home is beautiful, rooms gorgeous, and the owners had years of experience. So we moved him in asap. But I didn't follow my gutbon little things that were "different". The first thing we noticed was that he needed different clothes, and only 5 outfits, no shoes, and when we brought clothes in they had to be left on the tile to be washed their way before being moved into his room, and that the things he loved to wear were sent home. It was little stuff, so we thought that as long as he was getting great care, it didn't really matter. The next day (about 12 hours later) we were told my father was a violent man, and that this is just who he is now, and that they were seeing a whole different side to him. They also reported when we were there, he was different almost immediately after we left, and that he was doing things on purpose. I told them to call the last facility, as we felt almost accused of lying to them about him. We thought he just needed some time. So after a phone call, I thought we'd agreed to give it a week or so to see how it went, and if it didn't work out the rest of the month would be prorated. The next day, my dad seemed depressed, and angry with me for leaving him there, and it was reported to me, that his behaviors were not getting better, they were worse, So I talked to the owner who said they weren't going to kick him out, but he would need a higher level of care that would increase his monthly rate, starting the next month. I explained our finances would be tight, but we could sustain if need be. By the third day, my father told me not to visit him anymore and to leave, and seemed very upset with me. I knew then that something was truly wrong, as he normally loved our daily visits. I decided to look at other facilities. But, was told there were no refunds, and that I misunderstood our conversation, that our money would be prorated, ONLY if they kicked him out, and they weren't. .what a misunderstanding! So, I called the manager of my apt. Complex and got permission to bring him home until it was resolved. We took some tours that morning, and one that had been toured a month before that didn't have an opening for another month called unexpectly stating gqbnb_ now did. So, with that being the original place we wanted, the owner allowed him to move in unexpectedly. The last week has been wonderful, my dad has the biggest smile, the staff loves him already, and after a long visit with out if town visitors (we had planned 3 months prior) we are all so impressed! My dad is as happy as a clam, and back to himself, with no reports of anything we were told at Miramar. I can't tell you what was going on, because I wasn't there 24 hours a day, but I feel that families need to search their hearts, and listen to any red flags they might be having, and know that if little things seem out of sorts, it might be bigger things coming too....something I didn't listen to, because it all seemed so pretty and nice. Talk to other people, look at other patients demeanors, and go with Irf gut! I personally would not recommend the Miramar now looking at the whole situation, but it's very hard to make this hard decision as it is, I recommend lots if tours, and go with your heart. We saw very wonderful facilities, with warm, loving, caring people that made the choice very hard. There are wonderful places, look before you leap, you could regret it!!! You don't want anyone to go through what we did. Always have someone with you if you can, and discuss the pros and cons, take time you need, and read testimonials, they are invaluable. Remember, many people feel uncomfortable writing things that are not positive, because (i didn't know the owners would be notified) they feel that its better for people to figure things out on their own. I know I have had a real hard time, and almost didn't, but I had to, knowing that other familes need both sides if this very difficult time and decision. Good luck finding the perfect place for your loved one, I know how hard it is!

Thank you for your feedback regarding your father's brief stay in our facility. We are sorry you were not satisfied with the care we provided and chose to move him so quickly. It is always difficult for a resident and the family when a loved one is relocated and the transition can be hard. It is a new environment and new caregivers which can bring out behavior issues that did not exist in the past. After being in one place for so long and then moving into our home was hard on your father causing him to become incompliant and resistive care. We have experience in caring for all levels of care and would have loved to have your father remain in our facility.
I want to thank you for sending the payment on the curtain rod he pulled out of the wall, and am truly happy to hear that he is doing well at his new location.

Really like the residential...

Really like the residential home rather that large facility. This home is spotless, large bathrooms and private rooms. Laura is very knowledge about state and local policies. Very pleasant. My only concern is all male residents and night staff (husband) sleeps upstairs. Mom has wandering tendencies and is known to escape. New care taker employed 3 month but has long time in larger facilities. No uniforms Private suite available $4700.00 Ranked 2

Great one on one care here

They do an excellent job here! It's a smaller community and the one-on-one attention that the residents receive is really superb. They really go out of their way to always be available and accommodating to the residents. I haven't had a chance to try it myself, but my relatives who have visited say the food always looks delicious!

Nice place

So far they're doing a good job here. My loved one hasn't been here long at this point, but everything looks to be as promised. The facility is very clean, and the staff have all been friendly and professional.

From the Community

Miramar Home Care is located near Randolf Air Force Base, off of 1604. Our nearest hospital is Northeast Methodist Hospital.

Miramar is owned and operated by Ruben and Laura Dorca. With a combined 24 years of experience we run a home that is lively, supporting the needs of our elderly community. We provide care ranging from light to heavy, depending on the needs of the individual. Miramar provides assistance similar to that of a larger community, but in a more intimate setting with a higher staff per client ratio.

Our experienced team is trustworthy and reliable, assisting our Residents with care tailored to each client's specific needs. We follow a comprehensive care plan and assessment for all care needs from Dementia to Alzheimer Disease, activities of daily living to housekeeping, laundry, ambulation, medication management, food preparation, and much more.

Unlike large Senior Housing such as Nursing Homes Facilities with large numbers of seniors and not enough staff, our Assisted Living Facility is more intimate with care that is immediately available.

Our Residents tend to thrive better, eat and drink better, and be over all more happy. They are not in some large Nursing Home where they fade into the numbers, but they have a HOME and are cared for with love and compassion as they deserve.
