Customer Reviews

Kudos tp Maplewood Stony Hill

Maplewood at Stony Hill is a place that I never thought we would have to use for our family member but we did and I can't say enough about the caring and compassionate staff that is there. The Director of Nursing, The Assistant Director of Nursing and their activity director are amazing. Customer and consumer focused; there to help and listen. Living out of state; I rely on calls from my siblings regarding the care my mom receives. The staff has gone above and beyond reaching out to me with updates and just calling to see how I am doing. Being in health care myself; makes it even more important to have my mom in a positive environment where she can enjoy her remaining days. All the staff there are very kind and my mom enjoys talking with them. Thank you for taking care of my mom.

Mom''s final journey!

Maplewood at Stony Hill has been great and not just for Mom but for me as well. They are equally as caring for the seniors as they are supportive to the family. They give Mom a sense of independence yet they are there for her on every level. I so deeply thank them for giving Mom a safe place to live. ...

Great Experience

The staff is wonderful. My Dad has been at Maplewood for 3 and 1/2 months, and every staff member there knows his name, and cater to his needs. I finally have him at a place where I am relatively worry free.

Oh, what a tangled web we weave,...

...when first we practice to deceive!

To truly understand this facility, I recommend searching for employee reviews at Indeed because appearances can be deceiving.

The good: Cleanliness and food. I have to admit that while my family member was there, the place was better than hotel clean every time we visited - even the room. The food offered was always good and if my family member didn't want the choices available, the kitchen was always willing to make them something different as long as it was simple (e.g. sandwich, some pasta, etc).

The average: Staff was always pleasant when talked to. Some were more caring than others - more so in the dining and cleaning staff, less so with the people providing care. I suspect the care workers are given far too much to do and it will show after a while.

The bad: I quickly felt that it was all about the money and appearances, not about what is best for the resident. It seemed like a lot of care staff are just there to earn a buck and do the bare minimum to complete their assigned tasks. Saw some residents get ignored for long periods of time, even when they're yelling for help and have pressed their aid call buttons. Nursing staff was rarely available to talk to.

The unforgivable: Communication with the family is beyond bad. Multiple medical incidents were never communicated to us. Medical tests done incorrectly or on a part of the body that didn't need testing. Medicine ordered that was never needed. Needed medicine ordered from their preferred pharmacy instead of from the one that insurance pays for leading to extra charges. Lack of care leading to residents needing outside medical care. Disclosure of aspects of resident medical history to non-family.

Remember that if you tour, it's a "dog and pony" show to convince you to spend money, not necessarily a true representation of what the facility is like. Fortunately, my family member has left this place and is getting much better care now. We've even run into former staff in the new facility that are glad my family member got moved.

The staff did everything possible to make the transition possible. They are always there to help resident & family adjust to the new situation. The care giving staff treated Mom as if she was one of their own family.

[Removed] sentence in a beautiful environment.

Beautiful environment that lacks proper care for it's elderly residents. Fourth stage pressure sores can occur for residents that are wheelchair bound. The nursing staff is limited and care is minimal. Preventable pressure sores can occur with serious infection to take the life away of a resident. Do not expect the nursing department to be pro-active and to avoid situations that could of been avoided.

I toured this community

I went on a tour her it was very very nice and clean. The tour was good. It was like walking into a Hotel Resort. It was to far for me and my sister to visit her. They gave us a pastry at the end of it.

Beautiful Community

Maplewood at Stony Hill is a beautiful large community. It is very new and clean. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. We ended up choosing a different community because it was located closer to my home.

To confusing!

This is a beautiful community. We loved it here. The staff was very nice and they were very knowledgeable. The only thing that came up as a problem was that the building was confusing. They change the activity room spot all the time.

Nice Care

This is a nice community. The staff was caring and answered my questions. This community is larger than what I was wanting for my mom. The food was good and they did offer a lot of great meals. We were offered a sample and it was very enjoyable. The facility was immaculate. We would recommend visiting Maplewood to those seeking care for a loved one.

The people are fantastic. They understand and continue to work hard to make my AUnt's stay as happy as possilbe.

Lovely community!

My wife has acclimated very well to the community. She is participating in all of the activities offered. I am very satisfied with the staff and communication. Both my wife and I enjoy the variety of food offered. Maplewood is spotless every time I visit there is never an unpleasant odor.

Positive And Nurturing

We are very pleased with this community. My mother really likes it here and everything is going very well. It is a very positive and nurturing environment. We are very pleased with all they have done for us. A Place For Mom was wonderful with all the help they gave us.

Very Good

Maplewood is a very beautiful place where it is obvious that everyone cares for your loved one(s).
Upon our first visit we were extremely pleased with the complete tour of the rooms, kitchen, personal dining area, etc.
Our loved one is only there 3 weeks now. I only wish that there were more activities outside the complex. I am hoping that because this Assisted Living is fairly new that they will look to find more activities.
