Customer Reviews

Very friendly staff and residents willing to share their opinions openly. Feels like 'home'.

Warm and wonderful care

Canterbury Hall is a warm and wonderful care facility. My sister was in residence for the last month of her life and her family is so grateful for the excellent care given to her by the staff. Our only wish was that she had gotten there earlier and been able to experience the family atmosphere and beautiful setting more. Her private room and bath held all her own favorite furniture, pictures and even her cat, making her transition and stay there so much more comfortable than being in a traditional nursing home.

This is a beautiful country home well staffed with good healthy living standards. Residents appeared happy and well cared for.

This is a small place, maybe 10 assisted living rooms and 3-4 independent living apartments. Its a beautiful setting. They have their own raised bed gardens, a small greenhouse, and some chickens. They take food fairly seriously, generally cooking with fresh local ingredients. The two biggest selling points for our family were (1) they are pet-friendly; the dog could stay... and (2) the price.
While residents have a host of options for activities... from gardening, to caring for the chickens, to current event discussions... staff could do a better job at getting residents engaged. For the most part, residents seem to have to figure to take a lot of responsibility for their own engagements.

From the Community

Built in the mid 1700s, the main house of Canterbury Hall retains its stately character. We welcome senior residents to large private rooms with full baths that still carry the charm and architectural details from the past.

Canterbury Hall has proudly served the elderly since 1991. Our caring and attentive staff brings more than 75 years of eldercare experience and is available to assist our residents 24 hours a day.

Situated just one mile from historic Shaker Village in beautiful Canterbury, our surrounding fields are truly bucolic. Our residents enjoy growing vegetables and herbs in our organic garden, or just sitting in the shade on a gentle summer day while enjoying the flowers and good conversation among friends.

We’d be pleased to have you visit us soon to see why our residents call Canterbury Hall home!
