Customer Reviews

The facility was lovely. The staff were very nice. They had my name on a nice welcome board. They called me 5 times over two days before the appointment while I was busy. When I called back, I got a voice mailbox. I left a message and never got a return call. They have a very small parking lot.

Quiet, homey, adequate staff. New ownership that seems extremely competent and caring. Remodeling underway. 6 1 bedrooms available. No kitchenettes. Would have to buy a fridge. Small units.

Review of Alto Senior Living

Very good- personalized care- not lost in shuffle- good staff.

Review of Alto Senior Living of Marietta - Marietta, GA

My father’s illness was very sudden and even extreme in the beginning. My family and I had no idea what to do or what our options were. Every member of the staff has been so helpful, understanding, and patient! They are not just helping my dad, but my family and I as well. Also, the facility is very nice and cozy, just like home.

a very caring community

This is a very nice and caring community and they are doing a lot very nice upgrades here. My husband has special needs that require nursing care and the staff here at this community have been absolutely wonderful. In fact, they arranged for my room to have access to my husband's room by adding a doorway for me so that we have been able to stay together. There is a very nice memory care unit here too. I enjoy going to the dining room with the other residents and there are a lot of amenities here.

Thank you so much for your 5-star review and the kind words about Charter Senior Living of Marietta. Our team works so hard that these kind words reiterate that their hard work is making an impression on our residents and families. We are so glad to have you and your husband as part of the Charter family.

Room For Improvement

Since my mothers move into this community everything is going decently well. There is room for improvement in some areas around the community. I do not feel they have been responsive to my concerns. My mother, and I come across the same problems a couple times a week. They do a good job with the cleanliness around the community, I have no concerns in that area. When we first moved in there was no activities director, they have one at the moment. However I still have not noticed many activities available. I have offered to do a bingo night myself. The meals they provide are well balanced, and they have a nice variety too choose from. Until the issues that I have stated are corrected, at this moment I can not recommend this community.

Thank you so much for your feedback on our community. We welcome such comments and reviews, as it is an important way for us to improve.

Over the last few months we have been increasing our programming, including one of our family members coming in to host Bingo every Thursday for our residents. These changes and additions have added much to the daily activities for all of our residents at Charter Senior Living of Marietta.

I do hope that you do revisit our community now that these changes have been made - I promise you will see a difference.

Way Understaffed

Not A Good Place
The situation is a nightmare right now. We are constantly cleaning my mother's room because the housekeeping is not being done at all. Unless we clean it then it constantly smells of urnine. We are having to change her bed linens every time we go and bring her laundry home to clean it. The last time that we brought her stuff home we discovered it wasn't even her stuff but yet it was in her room in the closet. We have complained to the administrator things seem to get better for a short while then they go back to being horrible again. The staff is nice but they need to be more attentive to the residents and they need more staffing

Things are going good!!

I have no complaints about how things are going for my husband since he made the move into this community. The staff are very attentive to his needs and are always looking our for his best interest. They make sure to stay in good communication with me about all of his needs and answer any questions i have for them. Overall we are pleased with the care and I would recommend it to anyone.

Money hungry.

Buyer beware!!! Do not move your loved one into this facility. It looks nice but looks aren't everything. It's all staged. They don't care about providing quality care, all they want is your money, they've cut staff and continue to move people in. Constantly short staffed. They refuse to hire more help to take of residents, they would rather have short staff before paying overtime. They bring in inappropriate residents that require too much care while the residents that require minimal care get neglected. They have no standards, when it comes to the type of residents they accept. [Removed]. There's no stimulation in memory care. Cna's are left doing dishes and cleaning dining rooms all day instead of providing care. They ignore all complaints and suggestions. If you have any problems corporate will not care. They will sweep you under the rug. No one in corporate knows anything about this business other than the type of money they can collect. They have no idea the kind of things that happen in this building and for that they should be ashamed. They don't commuicate with anyone, they just make the decisions without considering the strain it puts on the entire facility. The only time they will lift a finger is if your check doesn't clear. They could care less about the facility, resident care, or employees. If you want to give your money away they will take it but don't expect anything in return. I would never recommend this facility to anyone and I feel sorry for the people there and everyone that endures the neglect from this company.

Not what I thought!

This community was not at the level that I wanted them to be. The lady was helpful at first, but then the communication started going down. Things were very good and engaging at first. The staff was helpful though.

Staff are outstanding!!

I have to say my favorite thing about this community is how amazing all of the staff is. They have went above and beyond for my loved one and have really made him feel right at home and comfortable in his new living environment. They also have been very good about making sure he gets his food in his room and even help he eats when he struggles to do it by himself. I am very thankful for this place and would defiantly recommend them.

Tour Went Well

I had a fine tour of this community. Everything went well, and they were kind to my family and I. The community appeared to be neat and clean. All the staff I met was friendly and nice. My tour guide was informative and answered my questions. It was a good experience, but it wasn't the community for my mother and her needs.

Getting involved!

Everybody has been wonderful here. We are all very happy with this community. My loved one is doing good about transitioning. He also has tried getting involved with the activities. The community is always kept clean and neat.

My 2nd Choice

My tour was very good here. I got to see a very nice community and the staff seem a little limited like one LPN and one RN. The building is smaller but still active. My only problem was with the price, it was too high for our budget.

5/12/16 - my grandmother was a resident at this facility for 11 years through 3 owners Sunrise, Tranquility and finally Bickford. Of the 3 Bickford has proven to be the worst. In the almost 4 years since they've acquired the facility it has continually declined. [removed] She was very happy there until the last few weeks of her life. Sadly since her death very few changes have been made in a management presence during the weekends. My advice is if you put your loved one here and they require a good amount of care you need to make sure you visit often especially on weekends. I was there at least 5 days a week and it turned out not to be enough. It's a beautiful facility and was once a thriving community and while there are some amazing staff there there are more that just do not care. I think it can be a wonderful place again but changes need to be made.

Review of Bickford of Marietta - Marietta, GA

Visited 4/9/2016. Susie is very nice. The community is somewhat dated and in a commercial lf residential area. The rooms seemed dark inside and there is very little scenery looking out

Seemed like a nice place!

We visited this community when we were looking into care options for a loved one. I thought Bickford was a very nice facility overall, and definitely somewhere we were considering as an option. The facility was clean and well kept, and the staff were friendly and professional.

Very pleased

I have a family member at this Bickford. She didn't want to move in and leave her home. We were all worried and she seemed depressed but when she moved in she changed. The staff was welcoming and the activities lady took her under her wing and totally changed my family members out look. They have some of the best parties. My family member laughs a lot and this makes me happy. She enjoys the food but would like more of a southern flair to her meals but she calls it home and never wants to leave, she has told us this. Thank Bickford for making her whole again!

This was my second choice, and I liked that the caregivers were all C.N.A's.

This was my second choice, and I liked that the caregivers were all C.N.A's. The people up front were really friendly and nice. Paula was wonderful and followed up with me. She was great, everything was positive. The reason we didn't choose it, is because a lot of the people that worked there, had some heavy accents. With hearing issues and some dementia, this would make communication very difficult for my loved one. Other than that they seemed like a great community.

Although I did like the facilities, however the location was not ideal. A plus would be that it is small enough for residents to get around easily while having enough room accommodate activities.

Really friendly but issues with the care.

I can't get them to bathe her or call me if she refuses to be bathed, and I have found her in the same clothes a week later. The food is excellent. The communication needs to be a lot better. They don't call for things like weight gain or loss. I chose them because they were a smaller community and that is better for our loved one. They are very good about bringing her out and working with her diet, they bend over backwards in that aspect. They do a good job keeping her engaged.

Friendly staff, excellent daycare

They're going a great job here, and it has been working out really well for us. I take my loved one in for daycare a few days a week. I really like that they've got enough staff on hand that they're able to give everyone a good deal of individual attention. I would recommend looking into this place!

Dad seems happy here

I did go to about 3 or four other places, did the research, and shared with my brother what I had found for our dad. Bickford of Marietta provided us with the best value for the money. The staff and especially the administration seemed really caring, like they would do what they said they would do. Bickford was bought out about a year ago and the current owners brought in all new administrators, and are in the process of upgrading the staff and facilities. I was really impressed by their chief administrator. Dad seems to be happy and adjusting well at Bickford, which we are happy about.

Loved it

I toured for my parent. The person giving the tour was very nice and seemed to know her stuff.
The receptionist was friendly and professional. I met the activity director and she was very nice and personal. She was envolved with all the other residents and seemed to add sunshine to their day.
The common areas needed some better furniture and hallways needed some fresh paint but it was cozy.
I was offered something to drink and also saw a serving cart going around with water and juice for all the residents. It's real hot out and I thought this was a good idea. I think it was a nurse who came up and spoke to me but she was friendly and helpful. All in all I liked this place far more then the others I toured today. I am keeping my parent at home for now but will have Bickford on the top of my list.

Looks like they have several activities. $500 refundable deposit to hold the room. $500 nonrefundable community fee. 30 days notice is the contract. Over the phone accessment with St. Leonard's then accessed by Bickford after 30 days. Offered special rates of $2,972 for level one care or $3,403 for level two - studio size apartments. There is a nurse on staff 24 hours. Once a week trip to where ever the residents want to go. Extra Fees paid to go to the Doctor @ $20/hour.
