Very Happy

Before choosing Atria Willow Wood, I visited many other places. I found Atria to be considerably better in all areas of concern: Frendly and engaging staff, clean spacious living area, High quality well thought out food choices and well worth the cost

Charles, Your kind compliments mean the world to our team from our care staff to our culinary team. The feedback of our residents and families is important to us at Atria Willow Wood.

My grandmother lives in the assisted living building here and I opened the bifold doors that the a/c handler sits behind to see what was in there and noticed big rotting holes from water and started peeling back the paper from the drywall which was soaked for however long the ac was leaking and it was covered in black mold. I went to her neighbors apt and saw the same thing. This is a major health concern for the residents or anybody with a compromised immune system that spends extended periods of time in the apts or the facility in general. The A/C units in many of the apartments are or have been leaking for months and rotting the wood and drywall underneath it causing black mold which is clearly visible to any person with knowledge. I think the dept of health should be aware of this as well as OSHA.

Julie, Thank you for making us aware of this issue. We’ve alerted our leadership team of your concerns, and our Executive Director will be inspecting all apartments and will remedy any issue we find. If you'd like to personally speak further, please don't hesitate to contact us at [removed].

Pictures online must be touched up as this is an old outdated property that needs a lot of care . New management is implementing changes that don't necessarily fit the residents and although they have a lot of experience hype bottom line is they don't seem to understand the needs of the residents and have fired majority of the old staff. A lot of talk but no action that means anything to the residents. Service is poor.

Hello, and thanks for taking time to provide us with feedback. It sounds like you have some concerns, and I’d like to help. Would you mind sending us your name and contact info at [removed], so I can connect you with someone to talk more?

Property is old but being refurbished as new residents move in. 1 and 2 BR units all have enclosed terraces and they encourage families to be involved (i.e. their pool is open to residents and family). Open dining and have 2 dining areas.
Residents are involved and they maintain and stock the library. 2 buses and a car to take residents to dr visits, shopping, planned activities, etc.

Pleased With this Community

My mother is well here in this community. This was a good move for her, and her needs. I do feel she is safe, and in good hands. The staff is very kind, and helpful whenever needed. The community always looks great when I visit. All is well, and we are pleased with this community.

We were very impressed with this was very clean.we liked the fact they had 1 bedroom 1&1/2 bath availability.also the availability to transition from independent to assisted living without moving to another apartment.we had lunch there.the food and service were very good.we met the dining manager and he is definitely an asset to this facility.the young lady who gave us the tour went out of her way to accommodate us.this places is definitely very high on our list.

Loved [Removed]. She really worked with me and was honest about cost. When we realized that it wasn't quit in my budget she sent me over to [Removed]

A view for my brother

This is a nice community. The care at this community. The staff is always helpful and caring. His room is beautiful with a view over the lake which is what he wanted. The menu is wonderful and he likes knowing that they have great activities for him when he wants to participate. The is a beautiful community with great care and a good value that we would recommend to other families.

Didn't Smell Fresh

The tour was good and the man that showed me around was very nice and thorough. The staff were very nice with the little interaction we had. However when we walked through the first floor it smelled like urine. I also noticed there were small repairs that were needed in the corners and in the ceiling. The carpets also need to be replaced.

Very disappointed.

My father is a dementia patient and thinks people are attacking him in the middle of the night. He may be confused and still adjusting. I am comfortable with the care he is receiving. What I am disappointed about is that they offered me two months free rent and didn't comply with their promise. I also signed a contract for a specific apartment and they gave it to another resident and moved my father downstairs instead. I am not happy with the administration here.

Marketing Director did a superb job showing us around and getting the medic to review Dad for a hasty respite stay whilst we were in Florida visiting my terminally ill brother. Sadly, the care staff never got a reasonable level of care organised during the entire respite period (10 days) and other promises such as provision of basic furniture like a lampshade were never followed through and it took over a week to provide a very small TV and get it working.... so really the place didn't live up to the promises which is sad!

The staff at this community is always loosing my father's clothes. They don't wash them or bring them back to him.I've tried talking to people and never hear back. Also, my father was promised cable TV and in reality only gets 4 stations. It has been 3 weeks so far since they said they would fix it and still have not. The left-hand doesn't know what the right one is doing at this place. The meals are good, the staff did not like the fact that my father goes into the dining room and sits on a hair leaving his wheelchair empty next to him.

Best - The Best

I have been here for only three weeks and am reveling in my decision - what a wonderful, caring home this is proving to be. And their chefs are the best!! My beautiful apartment is just that - beautiful and the surrounding grounds are so inviting. If, and when, I need assistance it is here for me and that certainly helps me sleep a bit better than I have been.

Almost cruise like experience. Gourmet meals seem to be the norm. Clean, specious, nice. Steve was informative, thoughtful and nice.

Decent Tour

This is a fairly decent community, they could do a better job with the maintenance of the community. My tour of this facility went well, the staff is nice and friendly. They were very informative. It is a very big community. I felt it was too big for my mother. I thought it would be very overwhelming. It was a nice tour.

He Really Likes The Food

My father in law is really happy here and seems to have adjusted well to the community. He really enjoys the meals, he says the food is excellent. The staff has been good and helpful to him. He is one of the youngest at the community so it is hard to find other residents for him to relate to. This is a good community and we are pleased with everything they have done for us.

The staff was very engaged with the residents and they were very informative.
I was impressed with the display of concern all of the staff had for the residents.
The apartments and general floor plan was very nice
The dining facility and food was excellent.
The organized activity schedule was impressive.....

Review of Willow Wood - Fort Lauderdale, FL

This Brookdale Independent Assisted Living facility impressed me for several reasons. Numerious and spacious activity areas rather than one multi-functional space. Several floor plans that provide ample closet space. Wide doors hallways to facilitate walker or wheelchair. Full galley kitchens (stove can be turned off if need be). Lastly although few minorities a vastly diverse resident population.

Review of Willow Wood-Fort Lauderdale, Fl

Very nice setting and amenities. Staff was friendly and courteous and seemed very interested in learning all they could about my loved one so they could offer the best choices to meet our needs. Will definitely consider this on our list of possibilities.

Lovely property and even if it wasn't one would want to be there just to bask in Carlos' effusive radiance. My dad dad and I were most appreciative of Carlos' kindness and attentiveness during our visit. We just couldn't pass up the lakeside view and diversity (dad is Caribbean) at Brookdale Margate.

everything is old and broken

At Willow Wood everything is old and broken. When my father moved they were under different management. The food sucks. We are not happy at all. I don't have anything good to say about the facility. I would never recommend it to anyone. The staff is their saving grace. Everyone is falling over themselves to help out. He is not happy with the activities there either. Not a good experience. The building is very shabby and depressing.

Wonderful Staff

I think that the folks who did the intake process were just wonderful. Both of our mothers had been in an assisted living facility before, and this was what a friend of ours suggested, and the whole experience getting her in was good, they did a great job. All the people who work there are unbelievable.

Overall a pretty good place

I think the food is excellent in the dining room, but the seating attendant was rude. I think that the way they get them in the dining hall needs work because there are just so many people are trying to get in at one time. Overall all it is a pretty good place.

Really, really nice place; lovely grounds, pleasant to walk around, courteous staff, lively and happy-looking residents.

Extremely Strong Management

Willow Wood has extremely strong management leaders. They also have fostered a culture of friendliness among both the staff members and the residents who are living there now. I give them a five-star rating overall

very nice place

Willow Wood is a very nice place, but it turned out that my mother (being in her 60's) is a little too young for it (most the residents there are in their mid to late 80's), so she is going to be transitioned to another place with more people her age.

The place itself was very nice though, and the people there are all very friendly and helpful.

Nice and helpful

My loved one has only been there for a little over a month. I think its working for him. The only thing is that they don't contact me to keep me updated on him. I feel like that effort is not there. Other than that, They always been nice and helpful. When I call, they always give my messages to my dad. It has been pretty good so far. My loved one seems to like it here.

Very Comfortable and Welcoming

I been to a number of places and this one felt very comfortable and welcoming. It's not your typical retirement home. Everyone is happy, involved, and friendly. The staff is also extremely friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend the Willow Wood. It is a nice community. It has a great atmosphere. There is wonderful people here. I would recommend this place.

We are very happy with them.

We are very happy with them. It's worked out great. My father thinks the food is good. They have lots of activities, they could be a little more creative maybe, but they suit his needs perfectly. The staff is really friendly. It's pretty clean, the maintenance team doesn't get a lot done, you kind of have to keep on top of them. It's just some of the extras that are lacking, but the essentials are great. There was some confusion about what is included and what is an extra charge. All the little things are far outnumbered by all the good stuff.

A Great Place for Mom.

My mom is 92 years old, and suffers from pretty severe dementia. We looked after her at her home for as long as we could...hired an aide in the day, and either my brother or I would stay with her at night. During a brief hospital stay, we visited a few of the ALFs that were recommended by A Place For Mom, and decided on Willow Wood. It's only been about six weeks, but we are VERY pleased so far. She is in the "Memory Care" wing, which is called The Canopy, and they are taking very good care of her. We pay additional fees for them to assist her with toileting, dressing, getting to & from meals, etc. and it's money well spent. They also keep her entertained every day. They are true professionals, and can get my mom to cooperate with them, which she would not do for family. We can't thank them enough! We had Easter dinner with her in the dining room, and it was delicious. I highly recommend Willow Wood, and Maria & Beverly are angels!

Seemed like a nice place

We visited this community when we were looking into senior living options for a loved one. I thought this seemed like a very nice place overall! Other than a few lightbulbs needing to be replaced the place was incredibly clean. The residents and staff all seemed very friendly, and I like that the staff know the residents all by name. Scott, who gave the tour, did a great job and was able to answer all the questions we had about assisted living.

Very professional staff

I assisted my aunt's placement at Willow Wood. She has only been there a few weeks, and I live in another state. After signing the agreement to take an apartment in the assisted living, my aunt (and her son) were reluctant to move. It was no fault of Willow Wood. I reached out numerous times to the staff there. I spoke with both the marketing person and the assisted living director many times. I found them to be extremely, compassionate, helpful and patient with my family. Once she moved there, my aunt had a few issues, typical for adjusting to a new environment. Called today and spoke with the director. She was very understanding and said she would immediately solve these issues. I am anxious to visit. My aunt bought new furniture and loves the way her apartment looks. Her apartment is huge for an assisted living facility. I was there five months ago for a second tour and thought the place was lovely and the lu nch was very good. My aunt was about to celebrate her 90th birthday and the dining staff came out with a dessert and sang Happy Birthday!

Review of Willow Wood Alzheimer's / Memory Care in Fort Lauderdale, FL

Willow Wood is nice, but feels dated and a little worn in the common areas. Upgrades to the apartments are nice. Layouts of apartments are nice. Bottom line: Not as nice as the Preserve at Palm Aire, yet more expensive than the Preserve. No real reason to pursue this community further.

Carlos gave a great present...

Carlos gave a great presentation! The facility is beautiful and well maintained. The residents are happy with Carlos and his staff interacting by name with many of the them. Pleasant experience!

We are pretty satisfied with Willow Wood.

We are pretty satisfied with Willow Wood. They are very clean, and the staff is friendly. They are attentive and responsive. I think there is a little bit of sticker shock associated with the cost of all of these places. We liked how clean they were and the size of the rooms, he has more living space than I do now, I think.

Too expensive for the service you receive .

When you live in independent Living they don't help you ,like they should. They knew my Mother was sick and they did not bring her hot food. Now she is in the hospital .

Nice place

It’s a nice place to take your loved ones if you need to. The food is good, decent. Laundry service is good. There is enough parking. It’s a clean community. The staff is friendly and there are enough activities.

They're very good

They’re very good. We like what they do. We looked around and this was the best we found. The food is excellent with lots of choices. We don’t have any trouble finding parking. The laundry services have also been good.

Very nice place

We didn’t have to use any of the care services. The one thing is that the food could be better. It’s a poor selection. I’d give the food a three. There is plenty of parking. The laundry service is a four. Over all it’s a very, very nice place.

Enjoyed Tour. Mom particularly liked the Begonia apartment. Not presently available. Was offered the Aster apartment for $2,750/mo with promise to move to Begonia when available for only $100 additional.

Very nice community, a bit hard to navigate

I thought they did a great job at this facility, my loved one was here for a time before we had to move her for personal reasons. It was a nice looking place, they provided great care and amenities, and the staff were all very friendly. It is worth mentioning, however, that the community could be very difficult to get around, it didn't seem laid out well. It was a VERY long walk (even for me!) from the rooms to the dining and common areas.

Working Out Well

This has been a very good situation for us. The extra services we needed certainly add up, as far as the price goes. However, everything is going well. The food is good, and they keep the community very clean.I can't think of much that they need to improve on. It was a big adjustment for my family, but I am just glad that it's working out well. The whole process went very smoothly.

Willow Wood is worth your attention

Both my mother and father share a one bedroom apartment at the Willow Wood Facility. They have lived there since June of 2013. While no facility is perfect, my family has seen a marked improvement in my parents attitude and their overall interest in their surroundings. They were living alone is a condo apartment and were slowly declining, not eating or taking care of themselves. Since moving to Willow Wood my mother starting caring about her appearance, her stamina increased, she became involved in many of the activities and quickly made friends. My father made the most dramatic improvement. Although his general health is declining he still enjoys being around his new friends, he's eating well and is enjoying the activities.

We feel secure knowing that staff is observant and does not hesitate to inform me when they see something that needs my attention.

Personalized Care

So far so good, we wouldn't be there if they weren't all fives. Their attention to detail, it was a major changed for my aunt. They worked overtime to make her feel comfortable. There are over two hundred people and they have both assisted living and independent living. It huge - and still very personalized care.

Great, but Not a Good Fit

We actually didn't stay with Willow Wood. She wandered, and they are not a secure facility. They don't lock down. They have a different building for Alzheimer's, but she was too young so she was not a fit for the strict Alzheimer's ward. They were great, just didn't work out for her.

I Would Live Here!

Loved; unfortunately, they didn't have an opening. The sales person was fantastic and showed us the best. There was so much going on for the assisted living people. My father-in-law didn't have Alzheimer's, so would have been in assisted living, and my mother-in-law would have needed the memory care. They had a nice mesh with couples who had different needs. There were special activities going on where the two could mingle. If it was me and my husband, that is where we would go! Willow Wood seemed to serve the needs of people who would need more care in the future. It was the best place that we looked at for that kind of transition. They would have taken care of her there no matter how much care she needed. It also looked like a country club!

Dream place

We really thought it would be good, its more expensive but we LOVED Willow Wood, I would love to get my parents in Willow Wood, to me that would be the best because my dad could be in the dementia unit and my mom could be on the otherside. It's a fabulous place, at least visiting. We like it a lot. I dealt with Carlos there and he's fantastic. i just wish it was 1000 less or at least a couple hundred closer to what we're paying now. The difference is that there is a lot more personal care at the memory care here because they have a much smaller population there so they're able to cater to them individually and be more one on one.
