Great Living at a affordable place

my folks lived at the Shelbyville Villa's for over 2 year, in that time I seen a lot of changes, but the biggest change was towards the end of there stay, that the Villa's hired Erica to run it. She took charge and things began to change, she hired more help, trained them to perform there jobs better, got a better staff in the kitchen to put out better food. The nursing staff has changed, but it was very good before. So all in all this was the best place for my parents to enjoy their retirement with other people there age, and gave me a piece of mind knowing they were very safe..

The Villas took such great care of my friend. They always made sure she was fed well, was dressed nicely, and made her feel like she ran the place!

Minimum care assisted living only

We were assured by management that they could meet all of our Mother's care needs. The truth was they could not and did not. The aides were indifferent, non- communicative, untrained. They are strictly a minimum care assisted living facility, dare not require or request anything at all in addition to that.

Don't take your loved one to this place

My mom-in-law was a resident here for a very short time. Thank goodness. When she got there they found out she had C-diff and after that the staff treated her like a leper. They just gave her a tray and ran out of the room. She asked for milk for her oatmeal and syrup for her pancakes and they never brought any back for her. Her trash was overflowing and was never disposed of until we called and requested it. Even then it took them a couple days to empty it. She got out of her quarantine and after 1 day we found out she had C-diff again. Her visiting nurse went to do her daily check and called us with the news that her bathroom was so dirty that there was dried feces on the floor. After we reported this to the management, they treated her even worse. Thank goodness we got her out of that dirty nasty place. The cleanliness of the facility is very poor. The staff doesn't care and the management is even worse.

My sister and I liked this one best. The price was lower for the same services. The residents seemed happier and friendlier; some were taking an exercise class. People have said the food is good. They have a large enclosed courtyard in the center with a large fireplace and gazebo. The rooms have enough space and look clean and do not smell. They even have a movie room with large easy chairs for the viewers and a popcorn machine. Their public and private rooms are light and airy with large baths with walk-in showers and adjustable heighth hand showers.

Where does this place find it's management? So far it has been a joke. The help is almost as bad. No one seems to care. The owners have been notified and nothing changes. I recommend looking at other places.
With the right management this could be a great place for seniors.
