Mediocre care

They are not monitoring her oral care and as per state regulations she is not able to keep her tooth paste in the room. So, unless they bring the tooth paste to her she can only brush without it. I took a dentist recommended tooth paste to her on a Thursday and found that it had still not been opened on the following Sunday. And, I had removed the old tube of paste. They tried to tell me that sometimes they us their own tooth paste, which is just a lie. If they use any of their items they charge you for it straight away. I took her to the dentist for a cleaning and the hygienist said that the plaque build up was beyond belief. I'm guessing that this had been going on for quite some time. I don't think they have enough staff to properly care for all the residents. I'm not thrilled with the level of care she is getting.

We liked this and medical was there when needed, but it was more costly.

Like a big family

My parents lived here for many years and it was a great experience. They lived on their own in an apartment and enjoyed the easy living and socialization. They were always up to something fun. When my mother started to need help, our family was very happy with the care. We all felt close to the staff there and it felt like home. I've recommended them to some of my friends.

Tour for care

This was a nice your for care. The building is nice but not as new as other communities. They did have a lot of nice rooms that are very The meals are appealing. I would recommend this community. Activities are also available. We would suggest that other families tour this community for the care of a loved one.

The care is excellent

They are awesome! The care is excellent and the surroundings is beautiful with deers and wildlife... they are very accommodating and they are always willing to answer my questions. My husband loves it here at The Wood At Cedar Run.

This was one of our top two, when we were looking

This was one of our top two when we were looking around. It was very close to me, and I liked the location. We didn't really care for the way the pricing was set up, there would have been extra charges for some of the things we would need. We were on the waiting list here, but there wasn't any availability when we needed it.

Friendly, accommodating care staff!

We're very pleased with how things have turned out at The Woods at Cedar Run! The staff here are very friendly, and they've been very supportive throughout the whole process. It is a very family oriented community, and I really appreciate that they've taken the advice I've given them on how best to look after my loved one to heart. They're very accommodating when it comes to care suggestions from families!

Making a tough job easier for find a home for my sister.

Contacting A place for mom saved me a lot of researching and just plain time and running around. I called on Monday morning and had 4 places set up for me to start visiting on Tuesday. I could have not done this on my own so quickly. Also it was categorizes for me, exam Personal Care or Memory care, and the area in which we preferred to find a place. I'm not sure, being brand new at this I knew the difference. But Natalie at A Place for Mom knew exactly where to look and saved me lots of investigating on my own.

Yes, A Place for Mom was a tremendous help!

Inexperienced Care

The review is of the Memory Care Unit. It is understaffed, especially on the overnight. Aides will take a break while leaving the remaining aide alone.

They encourage hospice because they do not have the trained staff to deal with Alzheimer's patients. Hospice could get my parent to shower every time they visited; only the Woods' social director could get my mother showered. No aide or MCU supervisor could do it.

The activities schedule looks full but out of the 20-30 times I ever visited, at all different hours of the day, there was only one time that the scheduled activity was actually occurring.

A resident was able to escape through the patio gate and was missing for at least an hour. They claimed there was an electrical problem with the alarm, we think they ignored it for too long.

All of the wheel chair bound residents are gathered in the dining room every day and spend the day sleeping there.

This place looks great, but looks are deceiving!

Great experience!

The facility has a new owner and I was concerned that services would not be as good. Not only has the transition been smooth, but cleanliness and interactions with staff have improved (baseline was already a B+). I met the new Director within the first month of new ownership and was very impressed! Hope this is a good omen going forward. Overall it is the best facility I have visited (> 45 facilities).

I like it

It’s fine. It has a mix of independent and assisted living. I like it. There is parking at the far end, but it’s not very convenient for visitors. We haven’t had any trouble with the laundry services at all. The staff is friendly.

Would not recommend this community

My loved one was here for a time, and our experience was not a good one. They're all about the money here. They were lacking in every category, activities, friendliness, care, food, etc. From the management all the way down the care staff everything got a thumbs down, service was slow, impersonal, and poor all around. The only thing they were diligent about was making sure their bills got out on time.

Looked great during our tour

We saw this one in a bit of a rush, and didn't get to see inside one of the rooms, but what we saw looked great. The facility itself was gorgeous, the staff were very very nice, and the food was delicious. It seemed like a great place, although it was not the location we eventually selected for our loved one.

I really was not impressed with this facility. Bambi was very helpful but there just seemed to be something missing. In the memory care area there was a smell (not sure what it was.) I just didn't have the good feeling that I had a Creekview.

Residents were active and receptive. Older well kept apartment style building, in a nice area with fully equipped and very nice rooms. Many available activities.

Absolutely Beautiful

My mother was a nurse and did not want a nursing home or assisted living situation. We really liked the woods but she is very independent and drives and everything. My FIL was at The Wood and he just did not like the food but he didn't like my food either so I don't think it was The Wood's fault.

It's absolutely beautiful there. We were just there and they invited us back for brunch. We all though it was beautiful but another place was willing to work with us on the price.

Our experience with The Woods at Cedar Run has been good. The people there are friendly. The primary reason we chose The Woods is they are close by and they offered more care services than the other four or five facilities we looked at. I rated lower on "value" because all the places we saw were expensive. Our loved ones seem to like the activities here as well.

Very dark and depressing entry and hallways. Reminded me of a funeral home. Apartments were big but not conducive to senior living esp. stoves and bathtubs. The employee giving the tour was totally uninformed about the facility. Not impressed at all.Very few residents out and about. Seemed deserted!
