If I could rate this facility lower than 1 star I would. The first room my father had came with a roommate with a bowel issue. The bathroom was filthy constantly. The Springs told me my father would have to pay for additional cleaning even though they were aware of the roommate's "issue." Every time I went to visit my father, the staff was sitting in the lunchroom talking among themselves, not engaging with the residents.
Then they stopped making sure my father was drinking enough fluids - why do we pay them? My father became severly dehydrated and ultimately dies from complications. Do not put a loved one here.

This was my second tour and [name removed] was very helpful. I liked the facility and surrounding area, but didn't like the layout of the apartments. I don't think my Mom would appreciate sharing a room at this point. I didn't tour the assisted living area because I was still going by what Magnolia had said. Mom just doesn't seem that far advanced to need that type of facility.

The Friendliest People

We chose The Springs because when we were looking for a place for my loved ones, the people here were the friendliest we'd seen, and that was a big thing for us. The food here is good, but I do wish that they had more heart healthy choices available. They will accommodate though, when asked. They have many activities going on, and they are sure to post the schedules on the room doors and near the dining room. The community is clean, and I like that it is a smaller environment, making it easier for my loved ones to get around. We have had a few issues with medication, paperwork, and care level status but we were able to talk to the management and have the issues rectified easily. Overall, our experience at the Springs has been very satisfactory.

Awful Service

My mother lived in The springs for a very short time before we moved her to another community, and in two days, she fell four times. They called me, about the falls and I had to drive from several states away to see my mom. I arrived to find her highly agitated. They asked if I wanted to take her to the hospital, to which I said yes. I’m still at a loss as to why they hadn’t called one immediately after her falls. I found a hospital and admitted her myself where she was diagnosed with extremely low levels of sodium and a fractured pelvis. It is clear that the staff at this facility were not qualified to handle what they told me they were qualified for. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

The Springs Living is dedicated to taking truly excellent care of our residents, and it is a responsibility we do not take lightly. At times, The Springs Living will make mistakes, but we aspire to own our mistakes and work hard to make the situation right.

Unfortunately, the summary provided above does not accurately depict the situation our resident experienced. We are thankful to have had the opportunity to support our resident and wish the family the very best.

Helpful Staff!!

I have no complaints about how things went for my loved one and I during our tour of this place. The staff where on time to our appointment and made sure to answer any questions I had for them in detail. It was actually one of my favorite properties that I had looked at it was just not the right time for him to move in the end decision. I would defiantly recommend it to anyone interested in a great assisted living for there loved one.

Facility seems a bit dark...

This facility was just fine. Everything looked fairly clean and everyone was friendly. Our primary concern was that the facility seemed a bit dark and dreary, so this is why we did not choose this location.

My Visit To The Community

This is a great community. The staff are nice and the community is clean. They do offer the same amenities as the community we chose, however this community is a little more expensive.

Close second!

We loved The Springs when we toured it. It was a close second but the deciding factor was location, We found a place closer to my family. Other than that aspect, the facility was beautiful and everyone was very nice.

Things are going well so far

My mother moved here and things are going well. We like the staff, the community is clean and she enjoys the meals. We chose this community because it is close to where I live. I would recommend them to anyone.

Some improvements needed...

The staff at The Springs are fine. I am relatively comfortable here and they do everything to try to make me feel at home. As far as the meals, the portions are good but the food itself could use some improvment in the preparation. They have many activities that I am involved in but none are very exciting.

Outstand Care for Mom

I really like knowing that my mom is getting excellent care. The staff is wonderful and respectful to my mom's needs. She is not participating in the activities, but the staff is trying to get her to be active. The food is very good and my mom seems to like the variety. I saw alot of communities and was very happy with how nice everything here is. Families would be happy with the care here for a loved one.

Ignore the Cute Stories on The Springs Website

The owner of The Springs is a multi-millionaire who writes cute stories about his grandma but doesn't care a whit about residents in his care.

My family visited over 15 facilities, including several other "Springs" facilities before deciding, due to family logistics, that this one was the best. What a mistake that was! When you visit this facility, they give your the tour and the talk, and it all sounds just lovely. But lovely is not what you get when you live there.

I thank God everyday for my mother's dementia so she doesn't have to remember the last time she was given a shower (except for the ones I give her weekly), or reminded to put on her nightgown (allowed to sleep in the same clothes day after day), or see when her sheets are changed or that her towel is filthy. Laundry seems to be done on a hit or miss basis (and of course, since Mom's not being cued to change her clothes it can be weeks) and other people's underwear and bras show up on my mother's drawers (my Mom is a larger lady and size Small panties and 32A bras labeled with another residents names are often in her drawer despite I've called The Springs attention to this).

I imagine all the Springs facilities are like this and I'd avoid them at all costs. I have found out that I have several co-workers who have their parents at other facilities and they do not have these issues. All the facilities we looked at were in the same price range so seriously do your homework before you entrust a family member to this dump.

Keep Looking - You Can Do Better For Your Parent

In reading some of the reviews already listed here, it seems like mine is not the only family to have issues with The Springs at Wilsonville. My mother was moved here almost a year ago.

Similar problems to what is being listed: other people's clothing in her closet, bed linens not changed routinely and when changed not with the linens I purchased for her, towels left hanging in the bathroom right next to the toilet which is a bit grungy, no encouragement for activities. This is despite my asking for these things to be cleared up at the quarterly meetings - where you get the "yes, yes, we'll take care of that" but nothing changes.

I know that it's a hard, low-paying job but the caregivers are generally huddled around a table talking to each other rather than interacting with residents and interaction is key for dementia patients. And because of the dementia, I'm unfortunately reluctant to move my mother again.

The Springs properties all seem nice - I looked at three before deciding on Wilsonville - but I think for the money you spend, you can do better. My advise - bypass The Springs and keep looking. For your parent's sake. I wish I had.

Return To Sender

Hi there. Our Mom was moved into The Springs at Wilsonville 10 months ago. I live out of town so for the past 10 months, I've been sending Mom cards with photos in them twice a week. For 10 months. That's 80 cards so far. I know she has gotten them because my sister tells me her room is littered with them.

This week, my cards were returned to me although they reached The Springs at Wilsonville, like usual. I address these to:
Mom's Name
The Springs #[her room #]
Street address
City, State, Zip

The Springs returned my mail and said it needs to be addressed like this to get to Mom:
Mom's Name
The Springs LIVING Room # [her room #]
Street address
City, State, Zip

Are you kidding me? They are denying my Mom cards sent to her because I didn't write LIVING and ROOM? Even though for 10 months they've delivered them?

My Mom has dementia. She has few pleasures left in life but she loves the cards and photos (of her parents, siblings, children) and now they aren't being delivered because of two words?

On a separate issue, my Mom's laundry wasn't being done and her bed linens and towels weren't changed for weeks at a time. When we addressed this in a conference, we were told we needed to manage our expectations because they had a lot of people to take care of. And a lot of people to deliver mail to also, I guess.

Sounds like they've got too many if they can't manage my expectations of weekly laundry and mail delivery.

Stay Away

Our father's guardian placed him in this facility against his wishes and his children's wishes. It makes me wonder if the guardian, [Removed], gets kick-backs from The Springs for every placement she makes there. My father's mental and physical health has declined to the point his personal doctor is concerned in the 6 months my father has been at The Springs. He is a high-functioning dementia patient who can perform all the activities of daily living on his own with cues. There are no cues. My father has kept all his own teeth for 83 years but is now in danger of losing some because the dentist says he's not been brushing his teeth - because they don't remind him. He has body odor because they don't remind him to shower. His roommate has bowel issues that The Springs is aware of and the toilet is always filthy with urine and feces left in it because they don't check it. My father receives no stimulation and sleeps 18 hours a day except for meals. He has hearing aids The Springs doesn't put in because it's too hard for them to keep track of all the hearing aids for everyone who has them. I would seriously avoid placing anyone you love here.

Disappointing

Our experience at The Springs was quite disappointing. Mom moved in when it was still The Wilsonville and privately owned. Under that management, we found caregivers that stayed for years and really got to know and love residents and families. When the management changed and The Springs took over, the entire experience went decidedly downhill. The greatest disappointment was the constant turnover in staff. I visited Mom every week and yet felt that every time I arrived the staff was different. There is clearly very little ability to retain help and I felt the turnover made it impossible to connect with anyone who could consistently keep me posted when I had questions about Mom's care. Information flow was lacking and often there was no one at the front desk to even let me in to the memory care wing when I arrived. People were kind when Mom passed away, but I definitely would not choose this facility for a family member again.

We appreciate your feedback and recognize that change is always met with challenges. We agree that despite turnover, our staff are wonderful caregivers and provide tender care.

Really... Yuck

My father has lived at The Springs for about 6 months. This has been a disappointing experience but he seems to have adjusted and we are reluctant to move him again because of his increasing dementia, although he is in the beginning of mid-stage now and able to do all the ADL's himself.

We were told the non-private rooms encouraged interaction between roommates but there is no encouragement from the staff to this end. My father spends most of his day sleeping because he is so bored. He gets up, eats breakfast, takes a nap, eats lunch, takes a nap, eats dinner, goes to bed. There is no effort to ask him to join activities.

But the really disturbing thing is that my father's roommate, bless his soul, has some mobility and bathroom issues as he has a walker and Depends in the bathroom. He often does not remember to flush the toilet and when he wipes (sorry) he gets fecal material on the toilet seat. Yuck! I have taken to carrying antibacterial wipes in my purse when I visit but yuck again. I've brought this up several months ago to the staff but there is no improvement here. Really yuck!

The staff is very pleasant but they seem to have no real training in age-related issues. I come from a family of 5 and was out-voted on The Springs as it is conveniently located for several of my siblings. If we had to do it over again, I don't think we'd choose The Springs at Wilsonville.

Disappointing Service

My mother was moved several months ago from another facility to The Springs Memory Care by her non-family member guardian. She has two medically necessary devices - a heart pacemaker monitor and hearing aids - prescribed by her physicians. The Springs is aware of these devices however in all the time she's been there, the heart pacemaker monitor has never been hooked up and the hearing aids are often dead due to batteries not being replaced appropriately or not in her ears and I have to chase someone down to take care of the hearing aids.

Other people's underwear show up in her drawers and her clothes go missing. When I asked that she be cued to change her own underwear daily, the response was to put her in Depends even though she's totally continent. Her laundry wasn't done for the first 3 weeks she was there and her bed sheets also weren't changed.

The Springs staff is very nice but their care seems like basic babysitting, not really care. The facility where my mother was before never had these issues and I describe it like a Hilton hotel. The Springs seems more like a Motel 6. I guess what you like depends on what you're used to, and you get what you pay for.

I'd Rate The Springs a 10!

I encourage everyone to do their own research but I hope they also check out The Springs at Wilsonville. If they do, I am sure this would be the place they would make their final decision on. My husband is adjusting to the move there slowly but he really enjoys it. He loves the staff and enjoys the food. I have absolutely no complaints at all about this community. It is exemplary!

It's pretty nice, but communication could be improved.

They are doing a pretty good job here. The internal communication between the onsite caregivers, and the nurse could be improved. It's a nice place, it's very clean, and the staff is friendly. There are some things that need to be worked out with a shared room, like where things are kept and such, just working out that balance. The activities are good, they offer both onsite and offsite activities. There have been a few meal requests that have been made that we have had to repeat a few times, but I think that goes back to their communication.

The Springs at Wilsonville cares about their residents.

My Mother has been in the assisted care unit of The Springs at Wilsonville for almost five months and I have been very pleased with the services and the overall facility. I have gone to visit my mother at all hours and have always been impressed with the staff and their attentiveness. My mother suffers from dementia and has unfortunately had several incidents that required special care or in some cases emergency services. I feel the staff have always done their best to keep me informed on the situations and done everything to keep her safe and comfortable. We will probably be moving my mother to the memory care unit in the future as her needs increase. The Springs also provides monthly Support Group Meetings for Families who are dealing with dementia that have been helpful and informative. Surprisingly, the meals that are served to the residents are well balanced and actually taste good. I am glad I chose The Springs for my mother and would recommend their care facility to anyone in need of a place for a loved one to live independently or in the assisted care area. I am also confident that when we move her to the memory care unit we will continue to have a positive experience.
