Customer Reviews

This is a lovely place filled with bright, interesting progressive people. Good food and excellent restaurants nearby.5Tke view over the Lake is spectacular. They have health aides available for hire, but also watch out for all of us.

Great looking place in a good location, but I cannot see much in the way of future care and it could all change its focus if the owners wish it. It is basically a hotel.

I liked that the cafeteria is open to the public.

We liked the Lake Merritt Hotel, it's actually both independent and assisted living. I liked that their cafeteria is open to both the public and the tenants, you can order from a full menu like a restaraunt. It was a very nice place.

Okay - Felt Lonely

It was okay. I didn't like that people didn't really have many common spaces to talk and hang out. It felt kind of lonely.

Great location!!! More of ...

Great location!!! More of a NYC apt feel and not what Mom's looking for. Seems she's more interested in the larger communities and would prefer a place where the assisted living component is part of the facility rather than outsourced. Dining room is amazing, love that it's also public. Staff was nice but not as energetic and interested in showing off the place as it felt at most others. Diane called today (4/30) and we spoke for a bit. She was very nice and understands this is probably not the fit for Mom. This place is about 2 blocks away from where Grandma and Grandpa lived.

I visited this place at Christmastime. Very nice old building. The dining room has a big window overlooking Lake Merrit. Did not see the apartments. They are independent living only.

From the Community

Welcome to AgeSong at Lake Merritt, an independent lifestyle community specially designed for older adults. What makes us special? To begin with our community is located in a grand Art Deco building on Lake Merritt with a long and vibrant history. Fitting with the grand architecture are spacious apartments that offer all the charms of home, many with spectacular views of the lake.

Our wide array of programs, services and amenities are designed from an holistic perspective to promote an active lifestyle that supports the mind, body and spirit. But what really makes AgeSong at Lake Merritt special is the unique opportunity it offers to be part of a community that views growing old as an opportunity for learning, having new experiences and being engaged in community life. One of the ways we do this is through our AgeSong Academy.

Our AgeSong Academy brings stimulating speakers, discussion groups and classes to AgeSong at Lake Merritt. These programs are tailored to the interests and needs of our residents as well as the public at large. We bring people together, young and old, to learn, discuss and explore a wide range of topics from health promotion to social and environmental issues and concerns.
