Disgusted

Where to begin this review. My sister was in this nursing home for several months and the experience was anything but good. She has been in at least six other nursing and rehab facilities in the last five years and she and I both say this was the absolute worst. The old building is where she was until the beginning of May when the new building was opened. The old building was falling down, the food was always cold and looked like slop on a plate. I was told by [name removed] the Assisstant Director that they can’t guarantee hot meals. I have never heard anything so ridiculous. A hot meal is a basic request. The new building had the same cold food. The temperature was 84 degrees in the room and dangerous for my sister with her health issues. We kept complaining about it and they put a window air conditioner in her room. This is a new building why would a window air conditioner be needed? The employees and other patients and residents are all suffering with the heat as well. You can not have elderly people suffering with heat and cold food. Others were afraid to complain about the conditions. My sister and were not afraid. My brother brought food in daily so she had a hot meal. Overworked CNA’s with up to 18 patients each can not be expected to care for that many people. My sister ended up with pneumonia and no one did anything for her. I called her on the phone and she coughed so hard it sounded like a rattle in her chest. I was very alarmed. She said she kept asking the nurse for some medication and the nurse ignored her. She was taken to the hospital and also had an infection. They would leave her in the same diaper forming through the afternoon. I told them this can not happen again it is inhumane. There are so many other bad things I haven’t mentioned. The final comment for me is that she died at Meadowbrook Lagrange on [date removed]. Please do not put your loved one here if at all possible.

My mother went here yesterday on her own. She is very impressed. She is planning at looking at another Lexington this weekend if she can. But is really leaning towards this one.

Director gave me the tour of Meadowbrook, who was friendly but don't think meadowbrook would be a good service to my brother at this time.
