Customer Reviews

No help for your loved ones

I’m sorry to say but I would not recommend this as a place for a loved one. It looks good and they are friendly enough but the don’t have enough help. They run a small staff of nurses, cna’s and it is nowhere close to being good enough. My family member has been ignore n several occasions and the manager [name removed] will listen but does nothing to change the situation. This past weekend a woman fell and pressed her call button a few times without response. She had to crawl to the door to yell for help. At about $4,000 a month that is despicable. We are looking to move our family member as soon as possible.

Doing Okay

Mom has settled in and adjusted well from what I understand. She is starting to socialize and do some of the activities. From what I am told she seems to like the food. The staff has been wonderful very friendly and nice. The community appears clean and well maintained. I would recommend them to anyone.

Nice place, friendly staff

Our experience with Highlands has been a good one! The staff is friendly, welcoming, and always more than willing to speak with you regarding any questions or concerns you may have. The facility itself is clean and well kept, and has a very pleasant comfortable feel. It's a nice place, overall.

Review of Highlands On The East Side-Providence, RI

It was nice, but I was shocked at the $4,000 one-time fee that was involved for all residents. It’s a beautiful facility and liked the location, but that was an extra fee that other facilities did not share.

Review of Atria Bay Spring Village-Barrington, RI

My mother was at Atria Bay Spring for a few months but unfortunately was unable to thrive in assisted living care (she wound up going to nursing care). Throughout her time at Atria, I found the staff to be extremely communicative with me and my family and very kind to my mom, despite her unwillingness to take part in her own care. I appreciated their communication and care.

Review of Highlands on the East Side-Providence, RI

We were very impressed with Highlands (it was my first choice for my mom, but ultimately her second; she wins). I really liked the care they took with their residents and that they have a beautiful yard and grounds. They also have a surprisingly good good male to female ratio (important if you’re helping to place a dad). Intake staff was extraordinarily kind with my family.

Personable and friendly staff!

We're very pleased with how things have gone at Highlands on the East Side so far! It's a nice looking, clean place, and I feel like it is a good size, not too large. I felt like my loved one would get more personal attention here, the staff all seemed very friendly and like they knew the residents well. They also do a good job with the food!

I'm pretty happy with them.

I'm pretty happy with them. I am very impressed with the cleanliness, which is really big on my list. The staff is extremely friendly, they are all on a first name basis. Don't get me wrong nothing is perfect, we have had to ask from time to time to get something done. All it takes is one word and they are right on it. And they want to know, and they are very receptive to work with you, they are very nice about calling us if there is a change. They are really very nice, and the nurses too, are just wonderful. They have a beautiful area for sitting outside. They will personally go and invite the residents to go out. The food is good, they have a nice selection, and he likes the food.

Care seemed good, had a clinical feel

We toured this community when we were looking into care options for a loved one. This was a nice enough looking community, it was very clean and well kept. The staff seemed very knowledgeable and caring, as well. The atmosphere just seemed a bit too clinical for our liking, and we didn't feel like our loved one would have been entirely comfortable here.

The rooms are the most spacious of any we saw.

The food is very good. One suggestion is, I think it would be helpful to have a quarterly meeting with the families just to check in and get feedback. We looked at 3-4 places and the rooms are the most spacious of any we saw. They were able to accommodate two beds, where the others could not.

Very Positive - a lot of personal attention

I think they are very attentive to the individual's needs. Of course every facility has a particular feel and it's a real personal decision which facility to go to. I think the facility should be matched to the person's personality so with that in mind I would say that Highlands pays a lot of attention to the person's needs.

My cousin is in the memory care. He participates in the activities and he gets along well with the staff and has formed a close friendship with one of the residents there. All in all it's been very positive.
