Customer Reviews

Spoke with Matt. Like their approach on diet, holistic, activities what they used to do to re-engage the brain. Do an off site activity once a week. 28 residents in memory household. Still have geriatric care. Has PACE and they tailor a program called PACE Plus where it's a combination of subsidy and private pay. Does not have an immediate availability. Possiably within 20-45 days

We are very very happy with it.

We are very very happy with it. She struggled at first with the move, but they worked really well with her, and have been very patient. They really seem to understand the dementia population. They have plenty of activities, and they will go and get her because they know she enjoys them. The food is good, no complaints there. We like that it's smaller than a lot of others, not institutional feeling, we liked the homey environment.

Home away from home

My father in law has been at Compass on the Bay for a bit over a year. IT was not an easy decision to place his in a care facility, as he is getting up in age and needs some assistance with day to day living, but is also independent.

At Compass on the Bay, they encourage him to exercise, socialize and do as much for himself as possible, but are also there is assist for anything.

The activities are a bit hit or miss, as they have to appeal to the whole group, but he does enjoy the daily exercise, the social gathering and of course, meal time.

We are very pleased with the staff and care, they are like an extended family! The facility is beautiful, with a beautiful porch and view of the bay, and it really does have a "home like" feel - and doesn't feel like an institution at all.

It is very sad when a loved one needs more care than you can provide, but we really feel like we made the right choice with Compass on the Bay.

Things are going very well for our loved one here! She's still mentally on the ball, and they've got a lot of things for her to do here. She's engaging with the other residents and smiling and laughing with them! She treats all the staff very well, and they treat her well in return! She's not crazy about the dinner selection, though. She is in the nicest room, too! She has views of the bay, and when the weather gets nice, she will be able to see all the bicyclists and dog walkers outside. Most importantly, she came from a big community where it was easy to get overwhelmed and lock herself in her room. Now that she's in a smaller setting, she's able to join in on the activities, like exercises, BINGO, and sing-a-longs, and is able to interact more with others! We've seen a real improvement since she's moved here!

Compass on the Bay, a wise decision

Our initial contact with the community was Lindsay Willis. Exec. Dir. I doubt a more warm, caring, compassionate person exists in this universe--or any other. Care for our memory-impaired, elderly mother was expected. We got that and so much more. Lindsay has shown empathy, too, for family members, sincerely concerned with our well-being, also.

A decision to place a loved one in the care of Ms. Willis & her staff would be a wise investment, both in terms of the dedicated care your family member would receive as well as the support offered to families unable to provide the necessary care, support, safety needed by one immersed in the depths of the Alzheimer's abyss.

I can't say enough good things about them.

I can't say enough good things about them. They bent over backwards to help us. They had everybody out trying to help us. They worked very hard to make her comfortable, and worked with us to keep the room available when things went differently than planned.

Overall very good

So far we're very happy with this community. We wanted a smaller sized community so that Dad and the staff could get to know each other more personally, learn names, etc. So far the staff have been great, very friendly and personable. There's a bit of room for improvement when it comes to some of the smaller details, and the food could always be better. But overall we're very pleased, and Dad seems well taken care of.

Took this tour and liked this very much. May still be a possibility for dementia care. Would like to get something closer if possible.

Memory care within budget

We chose this community because its location was very convenient for our family. The staff was really great. They have a memory care unit that we liked. A big factor in our search was to keep it within our budget and this community provided us with what we need for the budget we had.

Staff was very friendly and professional. The facility is clean and modern, rooms are in great condition. They have outings for the residents and outdoor space. I would rate this facility as top notch.

From the Community

You want the best for your family and when the telltale signs of memory loss are revealed, finding the right answer can be challenging… until your family finds your way to Compass on the Bay. We focus on the whole person, not just their basic physical or cognitive needs. Our method is to individualize a plan of care for each resident, providing just the right combination of services and programming to optimize your loved one's overall well-being, sense of independence, personal dignity and enrichment. You can have peace of mind knowing we are committed to your loved one's quality of life as our number one priority.

Who We Serve
We offer two neighborhoods within our building, offering an intimate experience for your loved one with an exceptionally personalized level of care and attention.

Open Campus Neighborhood for residents with early symptoms of memory loss with the goal of maintaining independence: Residents experiencing the early symptoms of dementia (Mild Cognitive Impairment - MCI) benefit from a full array of memory support services, all focused on maintaining and improving brain function for a higher quality of life. Compass on the Bay is the first assisted living community in our area to address the needs of these individuals with MCI, which is characterized by mild memory problems and some confusion, often described as the stage between forgetfulness associated with normal aging and Alzheimer’s disease. Learn more about MCI.

Secured Neighborhood for individuals needing additional structure, support and safety: Individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia disorders clearly benefit from a secure environment, as well as our innovative programming and industry-high staff-to-resident ratio.
Our location in South Boston offers easy accces to local attractions like Carson Beach, as well as to greater Boston’s cultural sites and health care facilities. Because Alzheimer's Care and Memory Support takes special expertise, families often will choose a memory support assisted living community slightly further away than they would be willing to travel for traditional assisted living making Compass on the Bay a choice for families across Eastern Massachusetts

Compass on the Bay serves local seniors from Boston, MA and all throughout greater Boston and the South Shore. Our residents come from South Boston, Quincy, Braintree, Dorchester, Hyde Park, Jamaica Plain, West Roxbury, Roslindale, Milton, Randolph, Weymouth, Hingham, Braintree, Cohasset, Scituate, Duxbury, Marshfield, Rockland and beyond.
