Customer Reviews

I liked this community

The staff are friendly and attentive. The community is nice and comfortable. They offer tons of activities. The food was great. They offer meals such as lobster rolls and scallops. This is a larger community that has everything you could need. They have a nice open courtyard. This is an active community and it feels like you live in a condo. I would recommend this community.

An Option For A Move-In

I was looking into a community for my sibling, who just needed some supervision. I was told a good deal but it was not enough for the budget of my sibling.

We liked this community

This is a nice community. The staff were good with my loved one during their stay. They were friendly and helpful. The food was good and they offer daily activities. We liked this community, however we felt they would not have been able to handle my loved one's changing needs.

Thanks to the initial Tour with [Removed], I really fell at easy that this was the place I would like my father to live ! I was impressed In every aspect checking all the boxes and more. Furthermore I would like to thank [Removed] who gave my brother, myself and my wife an impromptu tour so they could see for themselves why I was so adamant about my choice. I found the facility to be very clean, cozy, bright, safe, friendly staff and residents. Sincerely [Removed] and Family

We visit Atria in Malden recently. It's a nice building with great common facilities. The residents seemed very content and happy. There were no vacancies when we toured. The occupied room we toured was very small and I'm not sure if others are larger. I feel my father would do well there but he's not ready for the move just yet.

nice place to be

Always a pleasure dealing with the staff, our brother

has benefited a great deal since making Atria his home.

Truly loves the experience.

Maplewood Experience

The supporting staff is very friendly and accommodating.
My biggest complaint is lack of communication. Activities should be online. When you come in as a new resident there should be a formal meeting of how things work and the schedule of what you are paying for. There should be a followup with residents families on how things are going and what can you improve on. Upper staff needs to be more organized and available, most especially the head nurse. She needs to either be seeing potential residents or working within the building as she always seems to be in a hurry and not available.

New Resident Needs

The facility is great, but there needs to be more organization at the higher level. Once you are a resident you need to be given information, for example, about how the medication works, who to call if there are issues or questions, when laundry day is and what you need to do about linens. There needs to be a bit more responsiveness to questions as a new resident.

The kitchenettes are NOT set up for seniors. Cabinets to high and no counter space.

Aids are great and staff is very kind.

Could work more with the vision impaired

surprised at the New England charm maintained in this historic site and the individualized attention provided each and every resident is excellent.

The Worker are Very Helpful

I think the facility is very clean. Their dining room is fantastic. I think the hours should be a little longer because my Mother likes to get up really early. The workers are very helpful. My Mom requested a cooking club and they are going to try and do that for her. I would like to see her have a little more freedom because my Mother is very independent, although I am glad that they are watching her.

Very nice facility and staff. It is on the smaller size and offers unique aspects. There is plenty of common space. The rooms are not all the same. Lots of activities for the residents.

Visited Atria Maplewood today 3/16 with Alan Lappas. He was very helpful,
said we could use him as a resource if needed even if we decided not to
choose Atria. My daughter and I toured the facilty, it was clean, did not
smell. They provide many amenities.

Overall has been a good experience for my father.

My father is doing very well at Atria Maplewood Place. All in all a very positive experience. I would like to see more outside foods brought in on occasion such as Chinese Food, other ethnic foods and occasional outings to actual restaurants. A little bit more variety in outings would be nice, but I am sure the do the best they can with the level of activity most folks can handle. My father, even at 91, is able to get around pretty well. The people there treat my father very well and he seems to be well liked. I feel his safety is well taken care of there. So far, in a year and a half, there have been no outbreaks of any communicable diseases which I feared in a setting such as this, but this is handled well by the staff. I sleep well at night knowing he is being well taken care of.

Excellent Choice

I was concerned about moving my mother into an assisted living arrangement, mostly due to my misconceptions of assisted living arrangements. From the first day, the staff at Atria proved that assisted living is an excellent choice for aging parents. They were very welcoming and encouraged my mother to engage in the activities (a major accoplishment). I highly recommend Atria.

So far so good!

The atmosphere at this community is great, it's just what we were looking for. It's very pretty, and clean, and the staff and residents are all warm and friendly. We wanted a larger community for my grandmother so that it would be busy and have plenty of people to interact with. She's been enjoying some of the activities. Her room is beautiful, although it is a bit inconveniently located within the facility itself, it's a long walk to get to the elevator.

Very happy with this place

We found this place to have a beautiful atmosphere, and Mom's apartment is lovely. It is a very homey feeling atmosphere, and Mom has a much easier time socializing here than she did in the senior apartment building she was in. The lobby is great, there's a fireplace and plenty of comfy chairs where people sit around and read the newspaper.
We were a little let down by the activities, there's room for improvement there. Mom had been very active, swimming and exercising at the Y, and the exercise classes they offer here were much more low-key and targeted at mostly sedentary residents. The people running the activities are terrific and they are mostly great, but there is definitely room for improvement.
It's also worth noting that this facility is not in the best area of town, but after being reassured by the staff I don't foresee any problems.

Working out well so far

My mother-in-law seems happy here, now that she has made the adjustment and gotten settled in. It's a nice place, it looks and smells clean, and the staff are very helpful and friendly. We've heard good things from her about the food, as well. This place came recommended to us by a family member, and so far they were right!
We have had a few issues, and some billing mistakes that we got worked out eventually. This place is very expensive, and some of the extra services like helping point her in the right direction and getting her to activities, cost far more per month than the amount of work I imagine they require.

A nice looking community

This is one of the locations we looked at when we were looking for options for my Dad. We were really doing our homework trying to find the absolute best place for him. This was a very nice place, it looked great and the staff were friendly, but it wasn't the perfect fit we were looking for. It was a little lacking in the community feel and social activities we were looking for. Very nice overall, though.

Wish we had come here sooner

I liked it very, very much and I wish my aunt had gone there earlier before it had turned into a pressing situation and she had to go into a lock down situation. We had gone and looked at it a year earlier and it was really nice, she just couldn't make up her mind where she was ready to go and then it turned into a situation where she was forced to go somewhere.
I liked the way it appeared on the inside, it seemed like an open, friendly kind of place. To me it was more homey or more independent looking if you were going to transition into an assisted living. It was very clean, well kept and upscale, not depressing.

Great Appearance

The location of Atria is very convenient for our family. The appearance of the community really drew us in and is a reason we would consider this community. The staff is really friendly and maintains the community very well.
