Stopped in for a quick visit. This is my first time visiting an AFH. It is clearly a residential home in a beautiful wooded setting. The rooms were nicely furnished with the ability for residents to bring in some of their own furniture. Many of the areas served multi-function puposes. The common area (living/indoor dining/family room) was spacious and well furnished. This area serves as the movie/theater/arts & crafts areas. The covered back porch serves as the fitness center (with assorted gym/aerobic equipment), and one of the outdoor common areas. There are two covered patios that serve as other outdoor common areas, picnic and arts & crafts/bbq/and outdoor dining areas. The garden is lovely and has a nice landscape. The kitchen is open to the living/dining/family room, and coffee and snacks are available to the residents. Speech, Physical, and Occupational therapists and beautician/barber are on-call for visits as needed.[Removed] and her husband were very friendly and answered all of my questions. Some of the current residents seemed mobility challenged, and I only had a chance to speak briefly with one resident who seemed satisfied, but not happy ("It's a place.") to be there, while others watched me, but didn't return smiles. This could be just because of their personal physical limitations and unhappiness with their aging situations. I will speak with other family members to see if they, too would like to tour the home, and keep it on the 'maybe' list, since my Mother prefers a quiet setting (which this definitely is.)

We toured Tumwater Meadows and it was very beautiful. The owners were wonderful and seemed very caring. Even though it was not the ideal choice for our parents, we thought it was very nice.
Located in Tumwater, Washington, Tumwater Meadows Adult Family Home prides itself on its "non-institutional" approach to caring for senior citizens into their old age. We strive to create a comfortable, enjoyable environment for our patrons while retaining their independence through activities such as family-style suppers and private rooms. We also, however, consider the health and well being of our residents to be incredibly important and offer personalized care for each resident that is available at any any time, all day every day. We strive to provide premium care with no more than six residents per care giving employee. We understand that it is never an easy decision to send a loved to a senior living community and that you want to bring the most enjoyment to your family member as possible. It is because of this that we try to give as much peace of mind as possible by providing the most comfortable and independent lifestyle as possible, while providing professional care. We want to give you peace of mind that you're making the best possible decision for your family member, and we believe we provide the best.
