Customer Reviews

Augustine Landing experience

Augustine Landing has been my home for the past six months. I visited several other facilities before deciding where I wanted to live. My choice was based on the friendliness of the residents and staff and the location near my family. I was accepted with my 11 year old Labrador retriever and my cat. I live in a comfortable two room apartment and enjoy my meals, while not gourmet, are healthy and tasty. I like the informal lifestyle and have learned several new activities and made several new friends since moving here from The Villages. I recommend Augustine Landing for independent seniors like myself.

Recommend Highly!

My mother has been living at Augustine Landings for about six months and she absolutely loves it!…She has met so many new friends and enjoys all the activities and events they have to offer. Recommend highly

Also, A Place for Mom and the advisors were so responsive and helpful...Recommend this service as well!

Nowhere to go to

I only stayed a few months. The staff is rude and lazy. The administrator screams in your face if you disagree with him. It is called independent living, but more people have caregivers than those like me. The same people clean your rooms and serve your food. They do neither well. I would not recommend them to anyone. Many of the activities are on paper only. Everything is very poorly organized. Facility was dirty with food on the floor overnight, sometimes for days. First floor dining room and atrium rarely cleaned.

Hi there, thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent experience. We are disappointed to hear that you are not satisfied with your visit. Your experience is not common to our community. We would appreciate the chance to learn more about your time with us. Our manager would really like to speak with you more regarding this matter. Please reach out to us at [removed]. We look forward to hearing from you.

We toured and loved this community. Lots of faith based and spiritual folks here! Only major drawback was no kitchen, which does not work for my Mom in law.

This is a nice facility. One thing we really liked is that as residents progress from independent to assisted, they stay inthe same apartment, and the additional help comes to them. So once you are in your home, you know you won't have to move. For our Aunt, this may be a big selling point. Under consideration at this time.

It's so great seeing my mom involved again

It is so wonderful seeing my mom starting to take part in the activities here seeing her making friends and just enjoying herself. She likes the food and the atmosphere here. This community is an older one but mom says she really likes how it is decorated and the staff more than make-up for that.

I went on the tour on Saturday and was quite interested in what they had to offer. I took my daughter/son-in-law back on Sunday and they were impressed with this community. I spoke with [Removed] and will return in a day or two to sign a contract and begin the moving process. I think this community will meet my needs very well. Thank you for the referral.

Home Sweet Home

I like this community I call home. The like the staff who are very nice and caring to my needs. The community is clean and I like the environment. The menu is appealing. This community offers a lot of nice activities for me to participate with the other residents. I would recommend other to this community for a nice place to live.

Nice Staff!!

The staff where very friendly to me during my tour and made sure to answer any questions I had as well as answer any questions I had. The facility was just a little out dated for my liking and not very comparable to the other places I had looked at in the area. It was just not the right fit for me in the end decision.

Meals Need Improvement

There are some things about this community that could be better. The meals could some improvements. Other than that issue everything seems to be working out pretty well. The staff is kind, and have been welcoming. My apartment looks nice. Overall they need to improve the meals.

A Wonderful Community

This is a wonderful community, and I'am comfortable with my mother's move to this community. It is a great place, with kind people. They have a great staff, and the residents are very friendly. Everything is very well maintained. They have nice resources available for the residents. Everything is working out very well for us at this community, and I would recommend it.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS FACILITY

Having been a resident here for almost two years, I felt the need to offer my opinion about this facility.
In general, my advice would be to get whatever you are told or promised in writing, signed and dated.
When inquiring about benefits, I was told that a manager would be on site at all times, and it started out that way until we were informed that managers would now be living off site and we were given Great Call buttons to press instead.
Food service was touted as a plus, but that has deteriorated.
"German" cockroaches have infested the building, and although my apartment has been sprayed several times, my caregivers or I manage to kill a few just about every day.
The toilet in my bathroom has come loose from its seal at the floor, and although this has been reported, nothing has been done to repair it.
I live in a "handicap accessible" apartment, but the bathroom is not ADA compliant. I have spent hundreds of dollars of my own funds installing additional grab bars. A strip at the entrance to the bathroom continues to act as a barrier, though this too has been reported to management.
A problem with the entire HOLIDAY organization seems to be systemic. Local managers are given responsibility without corresponding authority to act. Suggestions from residents for improvements, such as the convenience of an ATM in one of the common areas, have been denied at the corporate level.
Yes, I have decided to move to some other place, and I cannot in good conscience recommend Augustine Landing to other seniors.

Mom's new home and care

I like the care here for my mom. I know that it clean and maintain. The staff is very caring. This is mostly for residents needing less care. This is for an independent living. I feel that the lunches are very good, but the dinners need to be improved with more of a variety at dinner. This is a good value for the care. They have a lot of great activities and good music. She has made friends and that is helpful. This is a family environment and I feel welcome.

Nice area!

This community was okay. I really have nothing bad to say about it, but I also have nothing nice to say about it. The people were friendly and accommodating. The community was clean. It was just not a good fit for me.

They Love It !!

My sister and her husband are doing very well here at this community. They really love it here, and my sister is improving very well. She has gained some weight, the meals are very good. They are meeting new people, it has really been a lovely experience. I'am very satisfied with their move to this community, and I would recommend it.

Absolutely gorgeous!

This community is so gorgeous and when I get old enough and need somewhere to go I want to go here. The staff is nice and helpful and the community is clean. I got to see the residents interacting with the staff. I just did not go to this community because they did not offer assisted living it is only independent living and dad needs more.

Very Pleased!

Dad is very happy here and is adjusting really well. The apartment is clean and close to everything that he needs. That was a major concern for him was to be near everything. They really need to change the carpet it is just horrible and it smells. The food is okay, not outstanding, but he has not had a bad meal.

Happy With My Move

So far everything has worked out very well for me here. I'am happy with my move to this community. The staff is kind and very helpful. The community is very well maintained, everything looks great. They offer nice activities and good food. Overall I'am pleased with all they have done for me.

Very Good Community

It has been a very good experience for my mother here at this facility. They are caring for her and her needs very well. They do a very good job with keeping her room and the community nice and clean. They have a very good staff here. Overall everything is working out very well.

Good place for my mom

Very friendly, great food, clean and nice apartments, very encouraging

Very Accommodating To Our Whole Family

This is a very accommodating community they have really gone out their way to help us. They helped my father get settled in the community and have been patient with him. He really likes it here and the residents are very friendly. He participates in bingo and poker so they do have good activities keep him busy. The food is great we all went to have Easter dinner with him and they accommodated all us and there was 7 of us. It is a family friendly environment. So it is a good community for all of us.

Rent Increases

On the whole I have been satisfied. However, it is a disappointment that there is a large rent increase every year. As quite a few other people here, my income is government pensions. It is widely known that we usually get a small cost of living increase. I should think that the annual increase would be somewhat in line, perhaps a little more, but the rent increases have been much larger. This year we are not getting ANY COST OF LIVING INCREASE AT ALL. My annual increase will be May 1. I sure hope it will take that into consideration.

Excellent facility

This is an excellent facility. Staff is extremely professional and welcoming and food is great.

A place called home!

Upon entering this facility, I knew it was a place to call home. There were residents enjoying cornhole baseball, while others simply watched and smiled! The food is absolutely delicious with a friendly, helpful staff to accommodate. Samuel Moseley is such a professional. He is so helpful throughout the whole move in process and makes people feel like family. Augustine Landing is a wonderful place, full of wonderful people!!

Awesome Place - very pleased!

Amazing place. We spent time at other places nearby (Brookdale) and they paled in comparison to Augustine Landing. I would highly recommend this community to other families.
We chose Augustine Landing for our loved one because of the long term staff, caring and comfortable environment, 24/7 Live in Managers, great food, cleanliness and beautiful rooms. For the price you cannot beat it.
My mom is very happy and is thriving!

Nice facility. Very friendly staff, tiny efficiency/kitchenette. Mom needed to have a full kitchen.

They are very helpful

I think they are very helpful. They call me anytime there is any concerns. My mom has fell several times and they always call to inform me. They take great care of her. They know if she had breakfast, they know is she had lunch, and dinner. They keep an eye on her. We are very happy with the Augustine Landing. My mother is very comfortable here. Everyone is always friendly. The staff has really been great.

Review of Augustine Landing - Jacksonville, FL

On the whole it has satisfied my needs.

Genuine concern for residents is lacking.

My mom has lived there for 7 years. Great caring managers and delicious food in the beginning, but in the last couple of years, management, meals, and genuine caring have gotten worse as prices have risen. It looks like they are cutting corners in the kitchen. Mom complains that the meals are not appealing in terms of flavor and presentation. Edges of the dining tables are sticky every time I visit. Housekeepers on cell phone while cursory vacuuming and bathroom cleaning. Recent outbreak of Norovirus with 40 residents going to hospital says it all. The kitchen has a problem! Residents have no recourse for their complaints. I heard a manager tell a resident who was complaining about the food, "you don't have to live here".

Toured

We toured this community when we were looking into senior living options for our loved ones. This seemed like a nice enough place, the staff we spoke with were all very friendly. However, the community seemed to have some overall issues with cleanliness, which was a big turn-off.

A friendly and caring staff

Visited the facility twice. On both occasions Dad immediately wondered off on his own and began making friends. This was on of the main reasons for our decision.

The facility was very plush

The facility was very plush. More of a retirement community than assisted living, they do meals and transportation and cleaning. She had a good experience there. They have a service where if she is not feeling well they deliver meals. The food was the big complaint. The meals that I ate there were very good, but that was her complaint. They had a little dorm type refridgerator.

My Dad Loves Independent Living

My dad has been there for 6 weeks and he loves it there! He is not that difficult to please, but the service and the food are really good. He loves having someone come and do his bedding and towels and vacuum; he is really enjoying all of that. They do have activities, but he doesn't participate, he just likes the idea that they are available should he want them. He gets three meals a day in independent living, and he has a refrigerator, sink and microwave in his apartment. We went over Thanksgiving, and I thought that the place was lovely, and even for a studio, he has a lot of space.

Tour good, lunch really good, small one bedroom apts, not many two bedrooms.
