Customer Reviews

Happy with the facility

I have not visited too often, but from what I know and what my family tells me, my loved one who is staying there at the Springvale Terrace is very, very happy with the facility and enjoys living there

Great Place to be!

My grandmother has lived here for a few years now. I trust the staff here with her. Every weekly visit, I can tell she is in good hands. Springvale Terrace has improved her equality of life significantly.

Not appropriate for those with care needs

We had a mixed experience with Springvale Terrace. I think the facility itself is very nice looking, and it is in a beautiful area. However, I do not think they are equipped to handle anyone with any sort of care needs. They just feel understaffed and untrained for any sort of care concerns. I didn't feel my loved one was being looked after properly. However, it would probably be a good choice for anyone with higher functioning loved ones.

Avoid Springvale Terrace in Silver Spring, MD

Nurses were rude on the first day and no confirmation of whether elderly relative actually received medication. We got some indication that there might be some type of misrepresentation going on with their reporting of services residents receive. Apartment needed many repairs that should have been done before move in that management was careless about. Told by staff that management would rather my elderly relative leave the facility than the facility address the many issues my family and I have raised. Avoid this place at all costs. You really get what you pay for.

We really liked Springvale. Being Pet friendly was a big plus. Located near DC, so we can visit easily. They were having trouble with the AC, but rooms were still cool and views out the windows were park like. Even on a Sunday the people there were responsive to the residents. We didn't see the food, so can't give a full five stars.

Springvale Terrace

Cost wise, it's affordable for Seniors with a fixed income of Social Security and a pension compared to other Senior living residences. If you are more independent, the cost per month is cheaper, which is a good thing. Great location in downtown Silver Spring.

The food services segment needs the most improvement with food selections, portions, and resident attentiveness and awareness in the Dining area and meal deliveries.

Smoke and mirrors

Horrible place they sell you a dream to get you to come there. The kitchen has roaches and mice running back and forth. The staff bows down to the Administratior to keep there job. And if they speak their mind they get fired. They residents are told the can't have red juice cause it will stain the carpet They have had some great executive chefs there but never given the chance to succeed. STAY FAR AWAY DO NOT BRING YOUR FAMILY HERE

Springvale Terrace

From the very first conversation that I had with Christine Sliger, to my subsequent experiences with members of the Springvale community, I have been most pleased. I believe that this was the best decision that my family and I could have made for my father.

Thank you so much. This is a very attentive, caring, senior community. I have no worries for my family member.

Very nice place

Everything has gone very well so far at Springvale Terrace, I'd give them top marks across the board. It's a nice looking, clean community, and they seem to be taking good care of my loved one. The staff have all been very friendly and helpful throughout the whole process.

Unable to view apartments per construction. Laundry is small and for whole building--plus that and activities are long walks away from apartments.

My best friend lives there, it is very nice they are remodeling. She is happy so far! The staff are pleasant from the reception on the front desk to the dining room. You have to do walk a long way to certain places in the building. It's convenient to shopping and peaceful.

Perfect Fit

For any senior at the independent or assisted living level who desires an urban environment, this is the place. In the case of my 85-year-old father, Springvale Terrace offers all the attractions of the nation's capital while allowing him to be minutes from his children and grandchildren. And importantly, with many assisted living residences exorbitantly priced at $4,000-$8,000, Springvale is within his $2,600-a-month pension. This is the perfect fit for him. We decided on Springvale Terrace after touring it three times over the course of three years. We were suitably impressed all three times. My father's decision was long in coming not because of what Springvale offered but because of his resistance to accepting change and help. Over a three-year period we found Springvale's staff competent and friendly; the apartments small but clean (while the building is dated, every apartment is being remodeled with new senior-friendly bathrooms, kitchen appliances, and carpet); and the activities bountiful. Also, Springvale offers flexible levels of care. When we first began touring facilities, my father was at the independent living level. However, in the aftermath of a heart attack during Christmas 2013, he needed more care. He signed the lease for a studio apartment at Springvale in February 2014 at the Enhanced Personal Care level. In the future, he can receive more or less care depending on his needs.

Worth Its Weight In Gold

This service is worth its weight in gold! I can't say that it is worth every penny because, incredibly, it's free! The professionals here are knowledgeable and caring. Anyone engaged in finding quality care for an elderly parent knows that it is a long, winding, and emotional road. In my case, it took 4 years to get my 85-year-old father the kind of help he needed. My father is a very resilient person but he is also proud and resists both change and help. I'm so thankful that early in the process I turned to A Place for Mom. They were with me every step of the way. What I especially liked about the service is that their representative, Sheyna [removed], would call or e-mail me ever so often just to see how things were going. This is so important because during one's search for elder care things are likely to change. Everyone should be treated with dignity in their later years but also they must not be allowed to endanger themselves. It is a delicate balance. Whenever I hit a road bump, Sheyna was there to offer suggestions or just to listen when I needed to vent. The other great thing about A Place for Mom is that they do exactly what their name says. They are very knowledgeable about senior living options, and even can refer you to specialists regarding financial affairs. The list of residential care options A Place for Mom provides is super--it is really tailored to your parent's needs. In our case, my father finally ended up in one of the first places A Place for Mom suggested. It's a great fit for him. It's the right care level, Assisted Living; in his target location, Silver Spring, Md.; at a price he can afford. And, he is minutes away from his children and adult grandchildren. The day before my father moved in I sent this e-mail to my representative. I think it says it all: "My heartfelt gratitude to you, Sheyna, and A Place for Mom. You are an indispensable resource for any adult child who is trying to find the best care for their aging parent. Keep up the great work."

Friendly staff, great location

The staff at this facility are very friendly and professional. I also really like the location of this facility, it is located near downtown Silver Spring. It is within walking distance to all sorts of different shopping, restaurants, theaters, and all sorts of entertainment options.

Didn't Prefer the Neighborhood

It wasn't as open as some of the other communities that we saw. It seemed congested. I didn't prefer the neighborhood. We only met two people from the community, the director and one other who showed us around, and they were very nice and talkative. In the end, though, we felt that it wasn't as appealing as the community that we ended up choosing.

Very Nice

Springvale Terrace is a great community that was closer and more convenient for me, but my loved one wanted to stay in the neighborhood he lived in for 40 years. The location is really good and the price was incredibly reasonable. This community had a lot to offer for the price they are charging. Overall it was a very nice and well maintained community that I would have selected for my loved one, but they decided to be at a different community.

They had studios or one bedroom apartments. The facilities were a bit older than other I looked at. No skilled nursing available, so that wouldn't work for mom. There is assisted living downstairs with some odor. But i guess that is expected(?).

They did not know I was coming. The Director gave me the tour, he was very nice and informative. They were experiencing a power outage but I was able to see everything. The rooms were spacious, this is an older building. I will follow up with a review after seeing the rest of the facilities.

The director was very professional and nice. Facility not new but clean. Taking my mom there on Thursday. My mom said that she doesn't think that she will like it and that she will go crazy in a one room home. I think going from a house to one room is a major move.

The facility was very clean, including the smell. Many available activities. Everyone appeared to be very friendly. Nice outdoor spaces. Dining room was clean, nice and everyone seemed to be enjoying their meals. Appeared to be many nutritional choices. Have a good feeling about Springvale Terrace.
