Customer Reviews

Oakwood staff/Agency staff

The week day staff is compassionate and well trained and employed by Oakwood. The weekend staff is hired from an agency and the care and compassion is lacking. They are working on fixing this but claim there are not enough people interested in this type of work.

Friendly people, small space!

My tour of the Oakwood Village went well. The assisted living housing was a small room with a bathroom and no kitchen. It felt very much like a hotel room. The staff was very professional and nice, they gave me a lot of information to take home and read on which was very helpful.

Review of Oakwood Village Prairie Ridge - Madison, WI

Hi Rob the place was amazing! We loved everything about it.My parents would have a long wait they would be number 8 on the list. So this place will not work out. We are not interested in the west side facility yet.

Very Nice, I really liked that Oakwood has a SNF so that when mom's age / condition worsens she will be able to stay here by just moving to a new section of the facility.

Couldn't be happier

After moving our mother from another facility that wasn't providing the care she needed, our family couldn't be happier with our mother's experience at Oakwood Prairie Ridge. Every staff member we dealt with was not only wonderful with our mother, but also showed genuine concern for our entire family. Her time in the Knolls and the Meadows allowed us to see the staff not only interact with her, but with others as well. They genuinely supported us all and made sure she was comfortable her entire time there. We highly recommend Oakwood Prairie Ridge to other families looking for a place that provides high-quality, compassionate care in a beautiful facility.

About 2 years ago I had to have Open Heart Surgery and rehabbed at the Rehab Center. I was their for 3 weeks and I saw an awful lot of the campus. Participated in all sorts of activities and meet a lot of people.

Friendly Atmosphere! Warm, clean and comfortable environment. Minimal employee turnover. The Director is a gem to work with. On site "resturant style dining" option was nice. Bright light and outdoor gardens. 1 year ave. wait for assisted living availability. Small rooms in memory care. No kitchenetts in assisted living rooms. Odor in memory care section. No transportation off site, limited activities.

From the Community

Oakwood Village Prairie Ridge is located on Madison's near east side. Oakwood Village Prairie Ridge is a part of Oakwood Lutheran Senior Ministries, a not-for-profit, Lutheran church-sponsored organization established in 1948. The more than 18 acres of landscaped grounds include miles of walking paths that meander around multiple gardens and outdoor patios. In addition to Independent Living and Skilled Nursing, the Prairie Ridge campus offers assisted living at three different levels.

Oakwood Seasons Assisted Living is a comfortable community for those who may need some help remembering to take medications, eat a well-balanced meal or even need some assistance bathing or dressing. Each of the private suites has its own bathroom.

At Oakwood Knoll, older adults with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of memory loss live in a community-based residential facility (CBRF). There are both private and semi-private rooms, with bathrooms built for easy accessibility.

Oakwood Meadows is a place for those who may need a higher level of attention and assistance. Oakwood Meadows fills the gap in the traditional continuum of care by providing the most independent environment possible for those in need of significant custodial care.

Current Oakwood residents receive priority consideration to transfer within the Oakwood system to the appropriate level of care should their needs change.

Oakwood offers residents an extensive array of services and activities, all under one roof, and is committed to creating a strong sense of community and providing residents with holistic care - enhancing the health of the mind, body, and spirit. Inside the main building, residents have access to a beauty salon, chapel, well-stocked library, gift shop, grocery store, and modern fitness center. Our Tree of Life Chapel, located near the assisted living neighborhoods, and pastoral care staff help provide residents with spiritual support should they desire, and daily activities are geared towards expanding resident’s abilities rather than focusing upon possible disabilities. The Life Enrichment Program provides residents with a wide variety of social opportunities like Maj Jongg games, museum trips, concerts, and swimming. We encourage resident involvement in the community whenever possible and believe that fostering new friendships are key to positive mental health.
