Am I buying my cottage?
No. It is a month-to-month lease agreement.

Who is qualified to become a resident at The Casitas?
At least one resident must be 55 years or older and able to live independently.

Will my monthly rate rise?
Yearly adjustments are typically 3-7%, to reflect the current cost of labor, energy and food.

What levels of supportive care do you offer?
Residents of The Casitas have priority access to MorningStar of Golden Ridge’s assisted living and secure memory care suites, together with day programming and respite (recuperative) stays.

Are you pet friendly?
Definitely. However, certain animals and breeds are accepted at management’s discretion. A one-time pet fee is required.

Can I make alterations to my cottage?
Yes, a simple Alteration Request Form is all that’s needed. We encourage you to personalize your cottage.

What programs and activities are offered?
A variety of Life Enrichment programs, including social, fitness, enrichment, recreational and wellness, primarily held in our Clubhouse. Activities are centered around the interests, desires and hobbies of our current resident population.

Can I leave my Casitas for an extended time unattended?
Absolutely. Don’t hesitate to travel, knowing we will keep a close eye on your Casita in your absence. We’ll even water your plants.

What is the pricing structure?
In all three neighborhoods, our Casitas or suites are rented, month-to-month (vacate with 30-day notice in Assisted; 90-day notice in Independent). Unique to our competition, MorningStar is not a buy-in community and, therefore, does not require a large upfront investment.

What is included in base rent?

For Independent Living
• Two meals per day (continental breakfast; in the Clubhouse and 1 meal per day in the main building).

How do I reserve a suite?
With a fully refundable deposit of $750 (applied to your Community Fee upon moving in).

Describe the kitchen in an Independent Living Casita:
Contemporary design with breakfast bar, high-quality stainless-steel appliances, including an electric stove, garbage disposal, dishwasher, refrigerator, and above-stove microwave and/or hood with vent. Premium quartz countertops, stained wood cabinets and high-end wood-laminate plank flooring.

What type of nursing staff do you have?
As with all of our assisted living and memory care communities, we have trained and dedicated care staff, led by an Resident Care Coordinator and Reflections (Memory Care) Coordinator. Additionally, we will have a full-time Wellness Director (RN or LPN) and an additional Wellness Nurse (RN or LPN), on call 24-7. In our Assisted Living and Memory Care neighborhoods, there is an emergency call button in each room of the suite, including the bathroom.

Are washers and dryers included in the Independent Living Casitas?
Yes. Side-by-side appliances in a laundry room.

What about group activities?
We call it “Life Enrichment” at MorningStar…social, physical, spiritual and intellectual activities—all the facets of wellness, all the ways we can build true community. Our Life Enrichment team will be charged with creating a bustling calendar each and every day in all three neighborhoods.

Is transportation provided?
Absolutely. We have both a bus and private vehicle with which to transport our residents to shopping, medical appointments, recreational outings and private use as requested (fee may apply for private use beyond scheduled programs).

Are Independent Living residents given preferred placement in Assisted Living and Memory Care?
Of course, depending on availability at the time of the needed move.

Is there an additional fee for moving to a different room when more care is needed?
No additional community fee is paid. No transfer fee applies, if the move is care-related. Of course, we will work with you to ensure a smooth transition, and help engage local movers, though you would be responsible for moving costs.

What about parking?
Every one of our 38 Casitas has an attached one-car garage. We will also have uncovered surface spaces throughout our campus.

Is there a public computer available?
Yes, a desktop computer is available in our Library.

Liquor served?
We have a liquor license, and sell alcohol at very reasonable prices in our Bistro and Clubhouse. Liquor and wine are also available when dining in our main dining room.

Smoking permitted?
Ours is a smoke-free campus for the health benefit of all.

Are you pet friendly?
Absolutely! In addition to our house dog (loved and petted by all!), we welcome the pets of residents. Certain breed and weight restrictions apply. There is a one-time Pet Fee. For those who need help caring for their pet, we also have a monthly Pet Service (optional, fee applies).

How soundproof are the suites?

Our insulation and sound transfer ratings are fully compliant with applicable code and typical HOA standards.

How many elevators in the building?
Two thoughtfully-located resident elevators.

Is there a generator onsite for power outages?
Yes, for the continuous functioning of our elevators and for every other safety function powered by electricity.

Building security?
Building access after-hours requires a card reader, whereas suites are secured through keyed locks.
