My mother was there for approx. 3 wks. We as a family kept a constant watch on her. Upon her arriving the floor in her room was filthy as well as the furniture. The TV worked occasionally. There was dried brownish red splatter on her bed rails. Although she could not use the toilet her roommate did. She too was handicapped. I won't show the picture I took but the fecal matter remained on the seat and rim of toilet 3 days. Never once saw cleaning staff on weekends. Night stands were dusty and sticky. I don't wish to throw out the baby with the bath water when it came to the nursing staff but less than a handful showed above average standards. The CNA's... why bother coming to work? My recommendation is not to let University Hospital manipulate your loved one into this facility. Thankfully my mom got hospice care and we got her the heck out of Kentwood.
My mother has been at Kentwood for 6 years. The past 6 months have been terrible. They have new management and they don't care about the patients or their families in any way. I have complained several times to [Removed] and the problems are never solved. They have agency nurses working now that don't care or know what is going on. They started giving my mother "Midnight Cocktails" they called them to make her sleep. Benadryl and Melatonin. I told [Removed] about this in January and they are still doing it. I went to HR and they investigated in March 2017 with inconclusive results. BS A Lawyer is my next stop. This use to be a great place but no longer. We are looking for somewhere else to put Mother.
