My mom has been at this hom...
My mom has been at this home for 2 months. Its not working out for multiple reasons. The main caregiver does not speak English at all and there are many communication issues in the home. They are also not familiar with nutrition at all and serve way too many carbs and sweets to my diabetic mom. Blood sugars are also not being tested on a regular basis and grape drink was being given with medications. Doctors orders for a diabetic menu but since they don't understand what that is, they think waffles with sugar free syrup should be okay. They are nice people, the home is clean, but the care is not what it should be. They also make all the ladies be in bed by 6 PM and then wonder why some wake up in the middle of the night, they have had enough sleep, but have to stay in bed until after 7 AM. Because of the language barrier, its hard to communicate. They will occasionally have English speakers in when other people are visiting, but not as a rule. It might be okay for those who are in the advanced stages of dementia or who can sleep 13+ hours a day but not for anyone who is trying to maintain activities. Upon first visit, this place seemed to have it all, but its hard to know if something is a good fit until you try it.
