Don’t Do It

If you care at all for your loved one do not put them here. My mom has been there four years and it has gone down constantly. Managers change like the weather. Can’t seem to keep staff. Food is horrible. The manager had been the chef the last year!! Cleaning is very poor. They do not care about these old people. My mom fell and they refused to help her up. Said by law they couldn’t touch her. Do not put your loved ones here. It’s so sad.

Hello, we are sad to read that Oxmoor Lodge did not meet your expectations. You concerns have been shared with regional management. Oxmoor Lodge has been in a transition period and is steadily improving all aspects with help of our regional teams. Due to us being an independent living community our staff is legally not able to help fallen seniors as they are not trained to do so in a way to prevent further injury. Anytime a residents falls and is unable to get themselves up we will call emergency services to ensure safety. If you have additional concerns about your mother living with us please reach out to us directly at [removed] or to Resident Relations at [removed] or [removed].

Facility did not appear or smell clean. Building was in disrepair on the inside.

A great building, but problems with staff/management.

My mom loves her new apartment, but she has had some problems with the staff. The employee who was to clean her apartment had not done a good job a few times. But even worse, the same employee seems to have stolen money from her - twice! She was afraid to tell the management, but I assured her that it was their job to keep her possessions safe. Admittedly she shouldn't have left a lot of cash and prescription opiates on top of her dresser, but there should have been more careful background checks of employees. The employee was only let go after other residents also found thefts to have occurred. My mom does not eat pork, and she has had difficulty making it clear to the kitchen staff that there should be more alternate protein options when pork is prepared.

We were most impressed with our tour guide. She was very informative and knowledgeable. The rooms and common areas are adequate. It seems like the residents are happy there. It is possibly a fit for our mom.

The food is amazing

I toured this facility while looking for a place for my Mother. I really liked this facility and all of the staff members seemed nice. It was really bright and open here and they are even pet-friendly. The person who gave us the tour was knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. The rooms he showed us were lovely. I would recommend this facility to other families.

I couldn't leave fast enough

I really couldn’t envision my Mother living here. If the Administrator could get anyone to live here, he would get the salesman of the year award. Don’t get me wrong, he was very nice, but the facility needs a lot of help. The place just looked really run down and it’s not the cleanest place I’ve seen. It was just so depressing. I wouldn’t even live here. I couldn’t even imagine putting my mom here. They actually allow smoking in the facility and I’m still dumbfounded by that. There are elderly people in this facility that are on oxygen and that is a huge safety hazard. The apartment they showed us was recently renovated and it reeked of smoke. I couldn’t even believe it. The only thing I could say that was decent is the meal we had there. It was adequate. I couldn’t leave fast enough. I do not recommend this facility.

One of My Top Choices

I had two other communities to pick from after having a tour and getting the experience with them. I felt they were able to help assist but were more for independent residents and my loved one had limitations.

Nice Tour Of This Facility

My wife, and I had a lovely tour of this community. Everyone was very kind, and helpful to us. Our tour guide was kind, and informative. All our questions were answered. The experience was a nice one, and our tour went well.

Community Setup Similar To Other Properties

In touring this community i found it was similar to other ones we had been at and liked. However, as we were walking around I noticed that everything seemed to be a little outdated and the community could use a refurbish. The member of the staff that provided the tour was very nice and provided us with a lot of information

Helpful Staff!!

I have recently had a tour of this community for my mother and I have no complaints of how things had went. The staff where on time to our tour and made sure to answer any questions I had for them in detail. It was just not the right fit in the end decision. I would recommend it to anyone though.

The Community We Picked

We choose this community for my dad and he's doing fine,

This is a top notch place

This is a top notch community and they have a lot of different amenities for their residents to take part in along with a nice dining room and I hear the food is really good here. The problem is we can't seem to get my mother to leave her apartment and to start taking part in any of it. She insists on eating in her apartment and watching her TV. We are working on her to try and change that.

we are continuing our search. oxmoor lodge was really nice but Moms financial system is complex and we need time to shake it out. will visit ATRI st.Mathews thurs.THANKS and will contact you later.LRB

Overall it is not bad

The salesperson was nice and helpful in the beginning, however once were ready to move in they were not as helpful. The food is not the best. They do offer daily activities and the community is clean. I would most likely recommend this community.

My Aunt is Pleased with Her Move Here

My aunt has settled into this community very nicely, and everything is working out very well. She likes this community, and we are pleased with her move here. The staff have been very kind, and welcoming to my family, and I. They do a good job keeping everything nice, and clean. This community has worked out very well for my family, and I would recommend it.

Things are ok at Oxmoor

My main issue with this community is the activities director as they do not seem approachable or outgoing. They do not offer the best activities. The food is alright and they do have several choices. The community is clean and they clean my apartment once a week. The rest of the staff are nice, helpful and approachable. The dining room staff and the driver are very helpful. They have large rooms and the community is affordable. I would recommend this community.

We are very pleased

The staff at Oxmoor has been wonderful. The entire staff are helpful. The food is good and they do keep the community clean. They offer daily activities and I would recommend this community.

Everybody knows your name!

My grandmother is doing great here. THe staff are wonderful. They have lots to do and my grandmother loves the singing and the bingo. The food is very good and we really like it. The community is always kept clean and neat. My grandmother likes that it is a smaller community.

Mother's move to Oxmoor Lodge

My mother just moved in to Oxmoor Lodge and to date our experience has been very positive. The staff and management of the facility have all been very kind and responsive to our questions and needs. The facility is very clean and the residents appear to be very happy and content.

[Removed], [Removed] and [Removed] were super nice to us and we really enjoyed the dinner and time we spent with them. However after finding out about Mom's health and possible problems we could not sign an agreement with Oxmoor at the time. We asked them about some issues with their contract and if after Mom's Dr. appt. if we could get out of the contract with no monies lost. [Removed] and [Removed] took it to their corp. office and had no luck, retaining the room until after the Dr.'s appt. or with having an additional clause placed in the current contract., They came back and said it would be best if we waited until the Tests results were back and we knew more of what level care she needs, before going further with Oxmoor. This is where we are at the moment and my brother is looking at other places, that he has heard about from friends or friends of friends! SO this is where it stands at the moment. I do think that if we could have made the deal with Oxmoor, we would be moving in there soon! Who knows, if it is meant to be, it will be. It is in God's hands now!

My loved one is doing very well here. She has not been here long but everything is going smooth. It is very nice and quiet. She has gone out shopping with the community and they have activities available. She likes the meals they make, especially the salads, she said it was terrific. I appreciate the help we got from A Place For Mom, it was helpful.

We Enjoy The Atmopshere

My mom is doing well here. The staff are good people and they do a wonderful job. Her meals are a good and enough for her. There are no problems with the cleanliness and I have no complaints. I have recommended this community to others and we all enjoy the community.

Dad Is Enjoying It Here

It is going good for my dad here. The staff are pleasant and easy to speak with. The community is clean as far as I can tell. They have outings every other week and have various activities for everyone. My dad is adjusting and engaging with residents.

Loving The Community

My mother is loving her community and she is doing good. The facility is clean in and out and the grounds are impeccable. I like how nice and helpful the staff have been. I have ate lunch with my mom and I think it is very nice, my mom has no complaints. I absolutely would recommend them.

5 stars all the way for Oxmoor Lodge!!!

The staff at this community are extremely friendly. I did try the food once and it was ok I have not heard any complaints from my mom. She is still adjusting so she has not yet started participating in any of the activities offered. I would recommend this clean and well taken care of community.

I would recommend Oxmoor Lodge!!

I enjoy living at this community. I only participate in a few of the activities offered. The food is good and they offer a variety of choices. The staff are friendly and they keep the community clean inside and out.

Mom loved the facility. The residents were very talkative and willing to share their experiences with Mom, which was really helpful. Mom is still not 100% sure this is for her (although as a family we agree it is time). She is "sitting on the fence". We loved Oxmoor Lodge's location, atmosphere and all of the wonderful activities that would be available. I will certainly be in touch if this is the facility we choose.

Great facility. My mother in law is very happy there!

A little too expensive. Activities are getting better.

Oxmoor Lodge was the right place for our Mother. I would like to see a little more security like a reception desk.

They were pretty nice.

They were pretty nice. It was just a short stay. She was starting to enjoy the interaction, and eating better. The care service on premises, Brightstar, worked really well and were able to get her to eat. This was one of our top two, and we chose them based on the location, they were both comparable in price.

Things could be a lot better.

I lived there for 11 months, and then, a year ago, I moved in with a friend, and am happier now. At "The Lodge",it is really independent living. They provide no care services except calling 911. You can order some care services from various home health care agencies, but the Lodge staff may call 911 for you. The public areas are clean. The residents' rooms are "cleaned" weekly, and the work varies in quality, depending on which staff member is assigned to your room. The tone is set by the Manager, which is a position of high turn over. The first couple saw themselves as cops whose job it was to catch rule breakers. The second couple was warm, friendly, helpful, and great. Many activities were offered, and enjoyed by most residents, although Bingo is not my thing. The food is wonderful, or that is what they market as a high point, but the reality is quite NOT wonderful. It is not diabetic friendly, at all. The portions are tiny, which was fine with some of the little old ladies, but not for this mot large man. Also the quality was very inconsistent. As the apartments have no kitchens, people without cars are going to be hungry. They charge like the places that have services, but one can rent a regular apartment for a fraction of what the Lodge costs. I now share a house and eat very well (on my schedule, rather than when someone else decides when one can eat), for a third of the cost of The Lodge.

Hi, I'm Katie, I work at Holiday Retirement Home Office. First, although I'm very sorry to hear that you didn't have a positive experience at The Lodge, I'm appreciative for your taking time to write a review outlining why you made the decision to move out. It's feedback from residents, former residents, and their families that help us focus on what we can improve, so this specific feedback, although discouraging, is also very helpful. Thank you. I've sent your concerns to our Resident Relations department for their investigation.

Thanks again,

Great place for mom

They were very pleasant and helpful in our search process. My mom moved in there a couple weeks ago and is very happy. Food is excellent!

Sharing of concerns

Current changes are a bit concerning. Rates are going up. Food service is suffering, while management is changing. A secure place is what the elderly are paying for. Food should be compatible to their palette .

Hi, I'm Katie, I work at Holiday Retirement's Home Office.

I'm sorry to hear that you're unhappy with recent changes at Oxmoore Lodge. Although we have little control of the market value of our apartments, we do have control over our food service. Please feel free to call us at Home Office directly to share any specifics on how food service can be improved at [removed].

My mom is really happy at Oxmoor Lodge. The accommodations are really nice as well.

I don't like eating at a specific time.

They are clean and the personnel is friendly. The services are good. They have activities, and could maybe use a little more variety, but we aren't too interested in those. I would like for them to change their policy of having you eat at the same time without any variance, we must eat at a specific hour instead of a window of time.

This is a 100% independent community and they have to be able to be 100% independent if they need help with any aspect of living, this is not the place.

The common areas are kept clean. They have cleaning staff that clean the tenants apartments and they do a crappy job. They don't really clean, they just run the vacuum, I have to mop the floor, and clean the bathroom. This is an independent apartment. They only provide "housekeeping", meals, and activities. They presented that would be able to help with diet, or medication reminders, they don't help with that. They don't have enough staff to help with that. They somewhat clean the apartment and they are tiny. The food is pretty good, but it's not diabetic friendly, and they don't help monitor that at all. There seems to have been a lot of false representation. The staff is phenomenal, but the marketing person who gets you to sign on the dotted line. This is a 100% independent community and they have to be able to be 100% independent if they need help with any aspect of living, this is not the place.

It's has been a very good experience. I've no complain!

Good overall, the food could use some work

Overall this community does a great job. It's very clean, the staff are friendly, and the service they provide is good. They appear to have a good variety of activities, although that is not something I normally participate in. The one complaint I have is that during my tour they really talked up the food, and it has been a big disappointment.
