If looking for a homey atmosphere Minges Manor is good. The staff person I met was attentive and involved with her 6 charges. She seemed knowledgeable to her duties with a great attitude. In all fairness I had to reschedule my tour twice, but no one was available to give financial information at the tour and after leaving my number I didn't receive a follow up call.
Our experience with Minges Manor so f...
Our experience with Minges Manor so far has been quite positive. My initial contact with Kay Brown was very good in terms of discussing mom's needs and situation. In our first visit at Minges Manor, Kay and her home manager, Jessica, were very gracious in answering questions and showed confidence in their ability to care for mom in a satisfactory manner. During the first two weeks of her stay there, Mom has had some difficulty adjusting to the group home living, but so far it seems that she has been treated well, and is making progress in the adjustment. In addition to Minges Manor, we looked at two other, larger, facilities, and felt that Minges Manor would be the best option for mom.
Very happy we found Minges Manor
It's so nice to have Mom in a small, home-like environment. She's only been there a week, so Mom is still settling in, but seems to like it there. She told us "This is a really nice wing of the hospital!" :-)
So far the staff has been helpful and addressed our concerns. They seem to be encouraging her to get up and get dressed every day, and to join the other residents for meals, activities, and just sitting together in the TV room. They have also been very helpful with arranging her medications and setting her up with the new pharmacy, and a new primary care physician (she's moving in from out of town, so we had to change).
So far I am very pleased with Minges Manor. It is so much easier to communicate with a small staff, and for them to get to know Mom, than it was in a larger facility.
