If you have decided that now is the time to transition into an assisted living facility, then it is a good idea to learn all you can about what is available in the local area. The good news is there are quite a few facilities that offer different living conditions and amenities in the Raleigh community.

In fact, the cost can range from $1,200 to $5,200 per month based on the needs of the person and their preferred amenities. Options for Assisted Living in Raleigh

The options available in regard to assisted living facilities in Raleigh are quite extensive. For example, seniors who want to be in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the area, Brighton Gardens or Sunrise at North Hills are great options. Both facilities are just minutes from shopping, banking, and dining services. For a location that is exceptionally safe, The Haven at Waterford Landing is ideal since it is located in a safe, upscale and quiet neighborhood.

Locating an Assisted Living Facility in Raleigh

When it comes time to actually choose an assisted living facility, there are quite a few considerations that must be made. For example, how long will care be needed? Are there any special requirements that the senior has such as diabetic care or memory care? It is also a good idea to speak with family and friends who may have used services such as these in the past. They can be a great source of information regarding a facility they like or dislike.

It is also a good idea to schedule a tour of several facilities prior to choosing one. This will allow the senior and their family member to have a first-hand look at what an assisted living facility has to offer and whether or not it is the right one for their particular needs. This is an important step and one that should not be skipped. In some cases, it may also be beneficial to use the services of a senior housing advisor. The services of this person are free for seniors and they can help them find the ideal Raleigh assisted living facility for their particular needs.

Paying for Assisted Living Care

One of the biggest challenges, aside from making the transition to this type of living, is paying for the services. For some families, this requires them to deplete their savings and go into significant debt just to ensure their elderly loved one receives the long-term care they need.

North Carolina does offer a few options that help to pay for these services, but there are some eligibility requirements that have to be met.

State Assistance Programs

North Carolina has a number of programs independent of Medicaid that offer assistance to pay for elderly care. While these programs don’t all provide financial assistance, they each offer the ability to offset the overall cost of care burden for a family.

C.A.R.E. is a program that provides the caregivers of those with Alzheimer’s or dementia respite care services to help avoid burnout. Another program is the Adult Care Home Assistance program, which helps seniors who have a low income receive the care they need in an adult care home.

Medicaid Options

Medicaid will only pay for the care of qualified people in a nursing home. After a period of time, it may stop coverage altogether. There are some waivers available for care that the elderly can look into, including CAP/DA.
