4 New Year’s Resolutions for Baby Boomers in 2015

2015 New Year's Resolutions for Baby Boomers

Every year we make resolutions for the New Year that we really think we’re going to keep. However, keeping the resolutions is another thing it turns out. Maybe it’s because it’s difficult to make changes because we get stuck in our ways and just don’t want to make any adjustments.

But what if we did these resolutions for a new reason?

Then maybe we would stick with it. No matter how optimistic we are, the sand in the hourglass is greater at the bottom than at the top now. Fortunately where there’s life there’s hope and joy so let’s start now! Here are 4 ideas to help you achieve your 2015 resolution list.

1. Increase your physical activity.

Yes, you knew that one was coming, but it is needed! Join a community center that offers a variety of health and exercise programs to you’re your mind and body in shape. Exercise helps improve your blood pressure, obesity, cholesterol and diabetes levels.

2. Find something to do that gets you out of the house.

You need to get out of the house on a regular basis. Have lunch with friends, go to that movie you wanted to see, stroll around the mall in bad weather. Or you could volunteer at a homeless shelter, the hospital, or a pet rescue center.

3. Try something you always wanted to do.

Now is the time to try out the oil painting classes or maybe bird watching. Perhaps you always wanted to try your hand at gourmet cooking. There are always Adult Education classes at local high schools and community colleges just there for the signing up. Check out what’s coming up next semester and do it!

4. Familiarize yourself with social media.

You need to join the online community and find out what it’s all about. Have your kids or grandkids help you buy a computer, iPad or whatever you want to use. Set up a Facebook page and track down old friends; talk to your family members online and enjoy what’s going on in their lives. You can make new friends, join communities, and watch Youtube videos showing the latest trends in your favorite hobby too. When you’re online, you’re connected to the world. And also, when you don’t want to be, you can just shut it off. Remember though that the internet is like your purse or wallet, so be careful of what personal information you choose to share.

Making a New Year resolution is a wonderful tradition that can help you realize the dreams inside you one step at a time. Take the time to find a new direction in 2015 and step up to do something that you’ve always dreamed of doing.
