Things to Do in Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach is well-known for its various beaches. While the city is a favorite hotspot for its outdoor activities, the area does include other featured spots as well. Museums, sports, fairs, and spas all fill the streets, providing plenty to keep residents occupied. You can spend time at the beach if you want, but you also have the opportunity to enjoy cultural and historical mind provoking attributes as well.

Explore the Fine Arts

The Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art features family-friendly exhibitions and educational experiences. Group tours, lectures, and films are each offered in hopes of bringing attention to the importance of art and the cultural aspects disguised within it. Discounts on admission get awarded to seniors over the age of 65. You can choose to become a member, which would save you from spending on entry fees altogether.

Visit the Historical District

The Princess Anne County/Virginia Beach Historical Society focuses heavily on the local history of the city. The Whitehurst-Buffington House developed in 1793 allows you to tour an old estate with natural beauty. A natural habitat and creek surround the house. Upper Wolfsnare got built in 1759. The house offers Georgian-style with a colonial Virginian-feel. On Wednesday from noon to 4 pm you may take a look around.

Enjoy Outdoor Exhibits

Atlantic Fun Park is a seasonal amusement park located in Virginia Beach. Head there when you want to enjoy some rides and fun in the sun. Sixteen main rides keep you occupied, while you can also play games and raid the food stands. Norfolk Botanical Garden sits just 25 minutes away in the town of Norfolk. When you want to take a leisurely stroll through a gorgeous outdoor area, this is the place to go.

Take Yourself Out to a Ball Game

The Virginia Beach Neptunes call the Wheeler Field home. The baseball team is not part of the Major League but is instead a member of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. If you would rather join in on the fun yourself, you can join an adult sports league offered by the city of Virginia Beach. Softball, volleyball, sand football, basketball, and pickleball make up your list of options.

Amuse Yourself With Games at the Fair

The Isle of Wight County Fair takes place less than an hour away in Windsor. The event occurs in September, allowing people within the area to have one last summer celebration. Regional and local acts come to entertain, while mid-way rides, fair food, games, and competitions keep guests busy for the remainder of the day.

Partake in a Relaxing Spa Day

Spa Phoenix allows you to participate in a relaxing spa day. Book an appointment and head in for a body treatment, waxing service, skin care treatment, or specialty massage. Specialty Massage choices include a Thai herbal massage, raindrop massage with essential oils, Myo skeletal alignment, Reiki, and LaStone Therapy. Some are only offered as 60-minute treatments, while others allow you 90 minutes of bliss.
