LGBT Senior Services in Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach is all about being a resort city with a vast array of beach space. It is a very gay-friendly city, with a large senior population. The city has something to offer everyone. With a Chamber of Commerce, LGBT community events, and plenty of social activities, the city is a top destination for LGBT seniors.

Neighborhood Living

With multiple restaurants, gay bars, and dancing venues, Virginia Beach includes gay-friendly neighborhoods in any area. The best places to stick to are usually nearby these destinations for the simple fact that it will get you there faster.

The Gardens of Virginia Beach is located on Wesleyan Drive, which is a quieter location in the city. It is not too far off though from the fun. The Gardens has a cozy indoor living space for all to enjoy, with outdoor activities scheduled regularly.

Bay Lake Retirement Community is found on Shore Drive. It is just a 20-minute drive from the gay scene in Virginia Beach. The community features a spacious library, elegant dining room, and cozy living quarters for all to share. As soon as you enter, a beautiful staircase provides a focal point for the room. The atmosphere is breathtaking.

Social Activities

The Rainbow Cactus Company is a gay nightclub for men to enjoy in Virginia Beach. Drag shows, dancers, live bands, and karaoke can all be found there. It allows you to explore your wild side. The Aqua Lounge is another choice in V.B. It is not a strictly gay offering but is all-inclusive. It is located within the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

The LGBT Center nearby holds regular events. Yoga is one option. This allows LGBT members to simply get together for exercise, relaxation and socializing. An LGBT NightOUT is also planned regularly with the help of the Virginia Stage Company. This is often in the form of a performance at the Virginia Stage Company itself, located at 108 E. TAZEWELL ST. in Norfolk.

Pridefest is not held in Virginia Beach but is held nearby in Norfolk. The drive is not very far and is worth it for LGBT citizens to get to explore all the gay-friendly offerings during the festival. A Pride Block Party is one event you won’t want to miss, along with the week-long celebration with live music, food, and fun.

Community Outreach

Equality Virginia is a statewide organization that strives to provide equality to all citizens, whether they are LGBT or otherwise. One of the main goals is to monitor legislation on behalf of LGBT people to ensure their voice is heard. Those interested in participating can join in by donating or taking action.

Hampton Roads Pride is a local organization. The group holds regular outings and events to ensure everyone in the area has a chance to participate if they desire. It brings LGBT citizens together to socialize and find friendships. The LGBT Center of Hampton Pride is actually located in Norfolk, but it just 25 minutes away and an easy drive.
