Tucson End-of Life Care

Finding out that a loved one has a life-limiting illness is a frightening event for many people. There is little time to figure out how to make the little time left a memorable and fulfilling experience. Families soon learn that they need help in many ways. Perhaps they need someone to check on their loved one or manage medications. Many families need more help around the house so that they can spend more quality time with their loved ones. Hospice services provide that kind of help and much more.

Grief Comes in Stages

Family members and close friends that lose a loved one go through stages of grief that are normal and predictable. When people better understand those stages, it’s easier to accept them during each stage. Knowing the stages also helps families keep hope that that they won’t always feel sadness with the same intensity as they feel shortly after a death. The stages are denial and isolation, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. Family members will move through the stages faster if they don’t deny their feelings and strive to work through them.

Where to Look for Hospice Care Providers

One of the best places to look for a quality hospice is by asking your family, friends, business acquaintances, and other people whose opinions you trust. Everyone knows someone who has passed away and chances are if they had a good experience with a hospice provider, you will be happy with them as well. The National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization offers a website with a search engine to help family members find hospice providers near their geographical location.
