When most people think of Tucson they think of spectacular desert sunsets, but the truth is, the city has lots of entertainment to offer visitors and residents alike. If you appreciate art, history, animals and the great outdoors, a great sports game, or a fun fair, you’ll find something to keep you busy in Tucson. If you’re looking for a great way to unwind a get a little pampered, the city has lots of ways to do that too. For your artistic side

If you appreciate art, Tucson has several museums to choose from, depending on your taste. The Tucson Museum of Art and Historic Block is a must-see for those who love cultural art from Latin America, Asia, and the American West, as well as modern and contemporary collections. Located on a historic downtown city block, the museum also has rotating featured and seasonal exhibits from around the world.

The Museum of Contemporary Art in Tucson displays exhibits from local and international artists who work in contemporary art forms. The rotating exhibitions and programs ensure that no matter when you visit, you’ll be inspired by something new.

A window into the past

The Arizona Historical Society keeps history alive in Tucson at the Arizona History Museum. The museum’s exhibits focus on southern Arizona history and educate visitors on the evolution of the state from the Spanish colonial up through the territorial eras. Included in the collection of artifacts are legendary trinkets like Geronimo’s rifle and the infamous Wyatt Earp’s pistol.

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!

Reid Park Zoo has lots to offer animal lovers. With over 500 who reside on the 24-acre property, families love exploring the different habitats. The Zoo has a number of special events throughout the year, including Summer Safari Nights and holiday happenings. There are also a variety of daily happenings, including activities for children and zookeeper chats. Check at the front gate for the schedule of events for the day to get an inside look at the zoo.

Show your school spirit

If you love sports, there are several teams in the state worth cheering for. Locally, the University of Arizona has a great sports program and gives locals a lot to cheer about. The Arizona Wildcat’s basketball team is a local favorite and plays annually in the Pac-12 division. The Wildcats also have notable football and hockey programs, and sell tickets to the public. The AHL professional hockey team, the Coyotes, are slated to relocate to Tucson in 2016 and be renamed as the Tucson Roadrunners.

Pima County Fair

Every April, the Pima County Fair comes to town. The 11-day event features a variety of musical entertainment, rides, games, a horse show, and performances from local groups. This annual event is a must-do for families in the area.
